22.01.2022 I am now 100% confident with my directions in life University of Sydney Honours student Cynthia Chan shares her reflections after completing the intensive E-LEAD GRIT program. The GRIT program is undoubtedly a phenomenal experience. Not only did I meet other like-minded individuals with whom I was able to establish a meaningful connection, the program has taught me and really cemented many life-long lessons at the core of my heart. As an Honours student who is about to g...raduate, I initially joined the program feeling lost and really anxious about entering the workforce in less than a year. Although I have always been passionate and ambitious in achieving my dreams, the realities have knocked me over and over again that I felt incompetent and impossible to ever reach that level. What was even worst was that I have slowly forgotten the initial Purpose which inspired me to walk in this direction at first. Whilst it would be too cliche to claim that I am now 100% confident with my directions in life, the guidance from all of the speakers, delegates, leadership fellows and Shahid has definitely equipped me with the knowledge and skills for personal reflection, which empower me to find my answers, and ultimately in becoming the best version of me. As Kaveh Fanan MACID nicely summarises: ‘No one has the answers, we all fail forward. But the key is that we never stand still’. I thoroughly enjoyed the intensive 4 day session over the weekend and the opportunity to meet so many fellows and speakers. I am not the most extroverted individual and often unconfident in myself. Having the opportunity to really reflect upon the valuable lessons that speakers have taught us, I definitely feel more confident and inspired than the Cynthia who walked into the door on Thursday

22.01.2022 Macquarie University Applied Finance & Business Analytics student Andrew Jeevachandran shares his learnings from the inaugural GRIT program. GRIT Leadership and Career program was an experience that enriched my understanding of leading both yourself and others. One lesson that seemed to pop up throughout this program was that of self-awareness and how in order to thrive in both your personal and professional life as a leader or a follower you must have an understanding of yo...ur strengths, weaknesses and inspirations. Personally, the most useful aspect of this program thus far were the various leadership based activities where we were able to apply the knowledge we had gained from the various speakers and mentors. Working in a team to help sell a product idea to investors allowed me to utilise Mr. Justin Di Lollo's communication expertise as well as Ms. Kerrie-Anne Turner's decision making masterclass. Overall, this was a truly immersive experience where myself and a group of like minded individual were able to develop as future leaders See more

12.01.2022 4 future female leaders (1st years) Rock the inaugural GRIT program! Melissa Chen Erlina Yang Tabinda Ali & Annie Wang were amongst a highly selective group of students from UNSW University of Sydney Macquarie University UTS: University of Technology Sydney & Western Sydney University who share their learnings and takeaways after completing the GRIT intensive. You must accept vulnerability and difficulty as a leader. Failing forwards is better than stagnancy. Enjoy the pro...cess of finding your purpose and place as a leader. Make an impact. Success is holistic and cannot be measured by your position or income Annie, USYD One of they key takeaways for me was some of the practical strategies to be motivated and positive, for example having a gratitude journal and a vision board. I also loved how you focused on developing ourselves and investing in personal growth rather than chasing employers, because this way employers should want you. I also found the hands on activities really practical in mimicking leadership and how teams are supposed to work together Tabinda, UNSW The GRIT program has been a wonderful and life changing opportunity for me to immerse myself with other young individuals who are also determined to make a change and put themselves out there. It was an experience I won’t forget as I met so many dedicated and passionate people. One thing I will take from this program and hold close to my heart is to always focus on yourself - who you are and what do you love doing - because in the end, it’s your life and doing what you love will truly set you forth onto a worthwhile journey where you feel empowered to truly make a difference in the world. I highly recommend this program to any young individual who is passionate about making a change and who is willing to put themselves out here and look for ways to improve themselves Melissa, USYD What began as a program to improve public speaking or teamwork skills, GRIT became a transformative experience prompting self-reflection and inner development. It’s the PEOPLE, PEOPLE and PEOPLE that are most important and those I’ve met, both delegates and industry representatives, are some of the most passionate and driven leaders I have ever met. What is your big PURPOSE? And how are you investing in building TOOLS to fulfil that purpose? Through E-LEAD, I began this investment Erlina, UNSW If you are a first year student who wishes to stand out in the competitive world as a leader then Like/Follow our Facebook page at E-Lead Centre of Excellence for Leadership, Engagement and Development to be the first to avail the next most exciting opportunity, coming soon...

02.01.2022 UNSW Commerce & Engineering student Varun Gupta describes how his view of leadership changed after attending GRIT. Throughout the 4 day intensive, after being thoroughly guided through the basics of leadership and the different aspects of becoming a leader by industry leading professionals, my perspective on the view of leadership has dramatically changed. The importance of leadership shone through as much more than just a purpose of bettering my resume and has now allowed m...e to enhance my understanding of how to become a great leader as well as integrating it to my everyday lifestyle. I learnt that becoming a leader stems beyond just the confines of a certain skillset of discipline, organisation and communication, with a heavy focus on how great leaders possess the best interpersonal skills, an unrivalled passion, determination as well as a shared purpose. Additionally, I created some lasting friendships with individuals who shared a similar ambition of further bettering ourselves and I know that we can all agree that we all have gained a much more informed understanding of the concept of leadership. Mr Majeed, who led the program for these 4 days and provided most of this knowledge, was truly an inspiring individual, who broadened my outlook of a leader beyond pen and paper and applied these leadership skills throughout the entirety of the program, embodying the essence of this program altogether. I am grateful for such a unique experience and I would recommend this to anyone in the future as an opportunity that should be taken if ever given the chance

02.01.2022 Think big, start small, scale fast and fail fast for maximum growth UNSW Computational Design @ Built Environment student Edward Jiang in action. The E-Lead Centre of Excellence for Leadership, Engagement and Development GRIT intensive program, was a truly unique and eye opening experience. Thanks to Shahid and his incredible passion for building the future leaders, I've been able to gain insightful pieces of advice from industry experts, this includes advice and experien...ce on how be a good leader through the the 5 elements of shackletons leadership and tips on communication from Justin Di Lollo's talk. My big takeaways in Kerrie-Anne Turner's talk was to think big, start small, scale fast and fail fast for maximum growth. Without the help of Shahid and his strong connections to amazing individuals I would never had been able to learn so much at an extraordinary pace. Overall I'd like to thank Shahid and all the individual who voluntarily came to talk with everyone in the E-LEAD program, as it was a memorable experience where I learnt many life lessons and many like-minded individuals who are now friends thanks to the GRIT E-LEAD program See more
