22.01.2022 If only, An Mustang named Eleanor parked in front of Eleanor Automotive in it's glory, that would be a dream come true. Even though Eleanor Automotive was named after the street name. :-) https://classicsforacause.com.au/eleanor-mustang/

16.01.2022 Today one of my valued clients brought in his vehicle to inspect a noise in the engine especially when cold. After inspection I determined the noise was coming from inside the timing cover area diagnosing a faulty gas tensioner in the timing belt area. After dismantling I confirmed my diagnosis. As the history of the vehicle with regards to the timing belt replacement was unknown, the best course of action was to replace the timing belt kit. In this procedure, I replaced th...e timing belt, timing belt tensioner bearing, timing belt idler bearing, timing belt gas tensioner and the cam seals and the crank seal. As a preventative measure i also replaced the water pump as it also resides in the timing belt vicinity and is actually driven by the belt in this vehicle. Failure to replace all the above mentioned components in a timing belt job can lead to premature failure and certain catastrophic engine damage. This is caused by the valve timing going out of sync with the piston position which is why it is so critical to ensure your maintenance schedule of the timing belt is kept up to date. At Eleanor Automotive I don't cut corners when carrying out this sort of work. If you are having this sort of work done on your vehicle by another mechanic insist on seeing all the old parts.

16.01.2022 A tribute to the art that is our trade of mehanical repairs...

15.01.2022 An interesting look into the past. Enjoy.

15.01.2022 Today I acquired 2 pieces of history, a 3 hp coopers stationary engine and a villiers staionary engine. Both these engines came from a time when the combustion engine was in it's infancy. A treasure from a time gone by. Both true works of art that stood the test of time. I will make a video of them running at a later date. We must never forget from where it all started and how far we have come.

13.01.2022 In this video we see a bunch of good hearted greeks helping the people of greece that lost everything in a massive flood.

12.01.2022 comitted to the cause, lol.

12.01.2022 Today we had another interesting project I have almost completed at Eleanor Automotive. One of our valued clients brought in a 1986 Yamaha AG200F trail bike to get going again. The motorcle has been sitting in a farm padock for some time leading to the fuel having gone off rusting out the fuel tank, clogging the fuel system and ultimately preventing the motorcycle from starting. The nmotorcycle was likely heading for the scrap heap prior to bringing it in for a look see.The ...customer also advised the motorcycle needed a new clutch and provided the parts for the job. After inspecting the vehicle and cleaning ou the carburettor and fuel system and fitting a temporary fuel tank for testing purposes the motorcycle roared back into life. Inspection of the clutch also revealed there is plenty of life left in the clutch and that it only required an adjustment to operate correctly as the cable was too tight. Understandably my valued client was thrilled that the cost to bring the old motorcycle back to operating condition again was so low and he looks forward to running around his farm paddock with the motorcycle for many years to come. If anyone has a decent fuel tank for one of these motorcycles lying around they would like to sell please me know as my client would love to complete this motorcycle some day soon. You may see this motorcycle floating around a paddock near you one day. Another satisfied customer at eleanor automotive.

03.01.2022 In this video I demonstrate the process of machining disc rotors so our customers can make an informed decision as to wether or not the have them done when their brakes are being serviced. Disc machining should be a customers first option when repairing brakes. The process of machining brakes is the environmentally friendly choice, uses far less energy than manufacturing and fitting new rotors and allows use of disc rotors to the maximum extent prior to replacing which also saves money for our clients. Machining rotors promotes quieter, smoother and longer life of brakes for my clients. I trust my clients found this video to be informative and factual arming them with knowledge. Thankyou for watching this video.

03.01.2022 The following vehicle was presented by one of our many clients with numerous problems. The vehicle described is a 1990 model nissan pathfinder D21. After sitting in a farm pacock for many years, the fuel in the tank had gone off causing a great deal of scale and rust build up to form and all these deposits made their way into the carburettor which reacked havock on the engine's fuel system . After a carburettor overhaul, cleaning of the fuel tank a second time and fitment of... a low micron fuel filter with a glass sump, I am happy to report the vehicle is running as it should again. I also spent time assessing the vehicle's roadworthyness for an upcoming blue slip inspection and did a tidy up of any issues that may be picked up on the blue slip inspection. The vehicle described is in the process of being registered soon and it was a pleasure to help get this older car up and running again for my client and I am happy to report the vehicle is now in regular use.

02.01.2022 Thougth I would share some success stories for all our would be customers. Today at Eleanor Automotive i had a Holden Captiva presented with a blinker problem. As driving down the road the vehicle's blinker on the right hand side would intermitently stop working making a hazard when stopped to turn right. The vehicle has had multiple globes replaced in it's lifetime all of which did not correct the problem. The first course of action was to identify if there are any loose c...onnections in the globe soccet or its connectors. Dismantled the tail lamp and inspected the loom, soccet and all it's associated conections at the rear of the vehicle. Did not see any forthcoming issues when inspection carried out. Traced the wiring to ensure no damage to the loom on in any area of the vehicle. Using our professional resources proivided by Autodata a wiring diagram was sourced. The problem was traced to the Body Controll Module area underneath the entertainment system. Dismantly and inspection of the BCM did not reveal any internal issues leading me to believe the wiring may have an underlying issue. Checked the connector and traced the relevant wire that goes from the rhr blinker to the Body controll module and found the associated pin had opened up causeing an intermittent loose connection with temperature. After closing the terminal up to make a tighter fit into the BCM connection, the blinker has now been restored on the vehicle described. This is just one of our many happy clients and their stories and I hope you have enjoyed reading into this story.

01.01.2022 How far we have come in our industry ! Absulutely briliant view into a marvel of engineering given the technology available at the time.

01.01.2022 This week finished another major job, one of my valued clients brought in a vehicle with over heating issues and oil leaks. Turns out the fan clutch had failed, the radiator was blocked and the seals in the timing belt area perished allowing oil to leak onto the belt compromising the belt's integrity. Failure of the belt could in some cases could mean catastrophic engine damage, as such, a new belt, tensioner bearing, idler bearing, water pump, seals, gas tensioner and radiator fitted with fresh coolant. Am happy to report the over heating issue is solved along with the oil leaks and the old Mitsubishi has a new lease on life for at least 100 000km.
