25.01.2022 #worldmentalhealthday2020 A good reminder that it is so important to take good care of our physical and mental health.

24.01.2022 Pregnancy and Infancy Remembrance Day We are remembering all the hopes and dreams, that a pregnancy and baby brings. And the sadness and grief, that comes with loss. You may be feeling tremendously alone, but rest assured, that you are not. Whilst the death of a baby is uncommon it is sadly not rare. In Australia 1 in 120 births will be a stillbirth or a newborn death. Please know that there is help at hand to get you through these dark times. ... If someone close to you has gone through this loss, today is a good day to reach out, and ask them how they are going. If you need support, there is 24 hr help available through SAND. https://www.sands.org.au/247-phone-support 24 hour support: 1300 072 637

23.01.2022 #NAIDOC2020 Always was always will be. Did you know, that Maribyrnong is an anglicised version of the Aboriginal term "Mirring-gnay-bir-nong", which translates as "I can hear a ringtail possum". (Next time you come to Eleanor Clinic, have a look, you can find a beautiful drawing of a ringtail possum on one of our windows - to remind us.)... Eleanor Clinic acknowledges that we are on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and the Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation. We celebrate and support the culture and achievements of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Wherever you live, you can take part in NAIDOC Week celebrations. To find out about NAIDOC Week activities in your area, contact your nearest Regional Office. NAIDOC Week 2020 acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. (Excerpt from naidoc.org.au)

21.01.2022 Trans Awareness Week is a chance to celebrate the trans and gender diverse community. And it's also the ideal time to learn about gender diversity, and the importance of being a trans ally. At Eleanor Clinic we embrace gender diversity and offer trans care, following the AusPATH model of gender affirming care for adults. We also proudly work together with the gender clinic at the Royal Children's Hospital to support children and teens and their families. Every year, Trans Aw...areness Week finishes with the whole community observing Trans Day of Remembrance. It's a chance to celebrate the trailblazers throughout history that have fought for trans rights, and honour the ones who have lost their lives due to violence and discrimination. It's important to note that this sort of violence still exists, and isn't just an ugly footnote in history and that's exactly the reason why Trans Awareness Week is so important. Everyone has the right to safe, inclusive health care - and we're glad we can play a little part in that.

21.01.2022 #Movember-we accepted the challenge: A month of men's health focus. It's great to see how many men have made use of our newly introduced men's health appointment. An opportunity to make sure your physical and mental health are all in top form. Much easier to fix problems while they are still small. If you or a bro is feeling low there's always help available. And there are choices - pick an option you're comfortable with:... - Talk to a friend - Call the MensLine on 1300 789 978 - Make an appointment to see your GP. At Eleanor Clinic we offer men's health check ups where we put a focus on specific men's health issues. And, yes, there are check lists involved. Movember is a good reminder on how important it is to take care of your health. And not just at this time of year. If you take the first step we'll come along for the subsequent ones.

21.01.2022 Happy birthday to our fabulous nurse Veronica! We wish you a fantastic iso birthday! We love your friendly smile and are so lucky to have you as part of our Eleanor Clinic family. Cake curtesy of Dr. Katherine Rybak- our Queen. Best wishes from all of us!

20.01.2022 Eleanor Clinic is turning 2 years old. Let the celebrations begin! Eleanor Clinic was started by two local Inner Westies to provide high quality care in a welcoming, warm and inclusive environment. We started out with three part time doctors. With more and people asking to have their medical care with us, we now have six fantastic doctors and a full-time nurse as part of our team. We are overjoyed by all the support through our patients and the strong Inner West community. We can't wait to see how Eleanor Clinic and our home here in the West continue to flourish over the next few years!

18.01.2022 #Movember-we accepted the challenge: A month of men's health focus. One in ten dads will experience anxiety and/or perinatal depression. The challenges of starting a family and raising a child are often tremendous. Dad's often feel, they can't ask for help, as their partner is doing it even tougher. If you are struggling, please reach out. At Eleanor Clinic we have lot's of experience to help you get well through the perinatal time. Help is also available through PANDA.... "I felt like I was losing my family, like I’d completely stuffed it up. I was really depressed and just wondered what was the point of being here if I’ve mucked it up this badly? I couldn’t see how I could come back from this." Read Nick's story.https://www.panda.org.au

17.01.2022 Movember- we accepted the challenge: One month of men's health focus! At Eleanor Clinic we work hard to providing highest quality medical care. Most of our staff are female, so we often get asked "Do you also see men?" Of course we do! At Eleanor Clinic we care for people of all genders and gender identities. So, for the next four weeks our FB page and blog posts will focus on men's health only. So should we feature more black and white photos? Cars ? Motorbikes? That's a bi...t of a cliché of men of old. Maybe you could help us out. Let us know what kind of health care you would like to see for men? What would make it easier for your dad, brother, son, partner to have a check up? Or, most importantly: what would make it easier for YOU to get the health care you deserve? Very interested to hear what you all have to say!

17.01.2022 World Mental Health Day Today is a good reminder of how important it is to take good care of our physical and mental health. Both of them are equally important to feel well. If you or someone you know is "just not feeling right", please take the next step and get some help. Sometimes this is being there for each other, having a good talk and listening closely to what is going on. Being there for each other is always helpful and always important. But some issues don't easily i...mprove even with good friends at your side. Just like you'd see a doctor for your back pain or to help control your high blood pressure, your GP is the best port of call for mental health issues. Your trusted GP can help you work out what is actually going on and the best next step to take. At Eleanor Clinic we take great care to ensure all our doctors are highly trained. Our team is very experienced in helping you with any mental health concerns. Once you and your doctor have identified the issues and put a plan in place things are already on the track to impovement. The biggest step is often the very first one: realising that things are not okay and asking for help. Then, when you are well supported, every step from there usually gets a little bit easier. If you can take that first step we'll be here to walk the next ones together with you.

14.01.2022 Do you know anyone who is over 50 and hasn't done their 2 yearly bowel cancer screening test? Make sure to remind them- it could save their life. Bowel cancer takes the lives of around 100 Australians every week. If you're aged 50-74, do the test, don't ignore the chance to save your life. If you have any questions, or if you have a family history of bowel cancer, please ask us about prevention and earlier screening programs, even if you are much younger. ... Over 90 per cent of bowel cancers can be treated successfully if found early.

13.01.2022 Melbourne, we are getting there! The Covid numbers are going down... Seen this poster and loved it. If we can see your nose, you are not wearing your mask right. Big thumbs up, to everyone covering their face properly! ( And yes, a few people just can't wear a mask for medical/trauma reasons, that's okay. Social distancing is key and frequent hand washing)

13.01.2022 HI Inner West, how are you doing? Managed to book in for a hair cut already? Returned all the online shoe orders that don't fit? ... For all your medical needs, we are here to help at Eleanor Clinic. Enjoy the long weekend!

10.01.2022 The pandemic has changed how we work at Eleanor Clinic. We started to do Telehealth and a "drive through" vaccination clinic. We have added safety features and policies, rearranged the reception area etc. But what hasn’t changed is our love and dedication to provide high quality health care in a beautiful, welcoming environment. We hope to see you here again soon!

10.01.2022 You child's asthma and Coronavirus An important update by our local consultant paediatrician and kids lung specialist Dr. Marc Theilhaber. How to stay on top of your kids health. https://eleanorclinic.com.au//your-childs-asthma-and-coron

06.01.2022 How do you support each other during times of crisis? La Trobe University is looking for 200 participants within the GLBTIQ community, so please share this in your networks. You are invited to participate in a study about mental health and peer support within the LGBTIQ communities. We hope to learn about the ways in which LGBTIQ communities support one another during times of crisis, and to understand what it is like to be the person providing support to others.... If you need professional help, we are here at Eleanor Clinic to support you. We have also build up a supportive and experienced network of allied health professionals, psychologists and specialists right here in the West.

06.01.2022 Update on Medicare Changes When the COVID pandemic started, the Australian Government put extra payments in place to help GP practices see vulnerable patients without out of pocket costs. As of Oct 1st the Government has removed this extra COVID-19 bulk billing payment to GP practices. Because of this significant change to Medicare payments Eleanor Clinic will return to its usual billing policy as of today. We have written about the need for those fees previously. This is ...the only way we are able to keep our doors open and provide you with high quality, personalised care. As always, we will continue to bulk bill vulnerable families under DHS care from Tweddle, and charge a reduced fee for those with a Health Care or Pension Card. There will only be a single out of pocket cost for the day if you see us via a Telehealth appointment first and your doctor then asks you to attend the clinic for a face to face appointment on the same day. We will also continue to offer short consults for simple repeat prescriptions and lost pathology forms without any out of pocket fee. If you are concerned about those Medicare changes please contact your local member of parliament - feedback is the way to drive behaviour in politics. If you are going through current financial hardship please contact our practice manager, Di, via reception to make a time to discuss financial arrangements. We thank you for your understanding and support.

04.01.2022 A little video to say thank you to our team, everyone who supported us on this journey and our patients, for making Eleanor Clinic over the last 2 years such a fabulous place. It used to be a rather dark building, before we started to bring life into it. To many more colourful years!

02.01.2022 On-the-day face to face appointments for kids and adults with fever With further easing of restrictions, we are so excited to be able to offer more on-the-day appointments for children and adults who are unwell with fever. We have a purpose built tent structure that can be used for these assessments where appropriate to minimise risk to patients and staff. For the kids, a trip to see the doctor might be that bit more enticing if there’s a special tent involved! If you just n...eed a Covid swab, the closest government funded testing site is at Shorten Reserve, just 2 minutes from us. Open for testing Mon-Sun from 9am-5pm. For patients who need to come into the clinic for their assessments, we have strict sanitising protocols in place, so the examination rooms will be thoroughly cleaned between each patient. Our doctors are escorting their patients straight into the consulting room, to avoid crowding in the waiting area. You are welcome to wait in the comfort of your car or have a seat in our front garden, when you arrive for your appointment. It is important to call reception so we know you are there. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
