25.01.2022 EDIT: The Kings Highway is again closed in both directions between Braidwood and Nelligen due to fire activity. Stay up to date with current road closures at ht...tps://www.livetraffic.com/. The Kings Highway is open. Eurobodallans, let your Canberra mates know the coast is as beautiful as ever. Let’s get this summer started! Thanks to NSW RFS, Transport for NSW and Visit NSW State Forests who worked with us 24/7 to make the highway safe.

08.01.2022 Attention People of Bateman Bay - and anyone who wants to read a local hero story Burgo’s IGA in Malua Bay needs your business! Throughout this whole ordeal..., my dad Matthew Burgess was the only supermarket who kept his doors open EVERYDAY feeding the town! On January 1st, dad opened his doors - the shop powered only by a generator. Many hundreds of people were rushing through, so much so he needed a ‘crowd controller’ on the door to organise and entertain the mass of customers (thank you Rod). It was so hectic, even my mum Candy Burgess and friend Janet Terry were up on ladders getting as much food on the shelves as possible ( a job out of their comfort zone ) It was cash only. People were panicked. Dad took IOU’s from those in need rather than turning them away. He continued to do this over the next 5 days until power was back and people could get cash out. To the locals who volunteered to wait in 2hr long lines at petrol stations and filled jerrycans of Diesel to keep the generator running (and the shop open)- Thank you! To strangers who rolled up their sleeves and, off their own bat, carried in crates of food when there was no staff to do so- Thank you! To the customers who I served and were very patient with me as I fumbled my way through being a check out chick for the first time ever- Thank you! The generosity of the community helped keep us running - Thank you! Once trucks could get through the hwys, Burgo’s IGA accepted deliveries designated to surrounding IGA’s. These stores had no power, so were unable to open for business. And now Malua Bay is quiet. Dad’s shop has an excess amount of fresh food that needs to be sold before it becomes unsalable!!! So I ask this of youDrive a little further and support the business that supported you. Head to Malua Bay and do your weekly shopping at Burgo’s IGA!!! If you see a man with a smiling face and always wearing a Hawaiian shirt - that’s my dad and he’s my hero....and possibly yours too!!! Open 8am- 8pm #burgosiga #iga #batemansbay #baypost #moruyaexaminer #localhero #bushfire #supermarket #superhero #maluabay #spendwiththem #smh #theaustralian #tripplej

01.01.2022 Hi All, just wanted to let you know that despite reports to the contrary 37 businesses are still standing in Mogo and would love your business. We visited today... and so many of our favourite shops are still there. Support these businesses if you can and get the word out that there is still plenty of lovely businesses open there.
