23.01.2022 Jay Brown is no stranger to the Australian music landscape. The Gold Coast based singer/songwriter spent his formative years fronting alt-metal heroes Sunk Loto... (1997 2007), and more recently rock powerhouse Electric Horse (2009 2014). His recording career spans twenty years, signing his first record deal with Sony as a teenager, Jay went on to release two EP’s, and three studio albums, with various singles peaking on the ARIA charts top 50. A career highlight being Sunk Loto’s ARIA nominated album ‘Between Birth and Death’, which is still considered to be one of Australia’s most influential heavy metal releases. As a live performer, Jays wrap sheet is impressive. From an early age, Jay was playing alongside the elite of heavy music, touring nationally as part of the Big Day Out festival, slots at Livid and Warped Tour, a Channel V live appearance, countless headline shows, and numerous American tours. Fast forward to 2020, and Jay Brown is ready to tread a different musical path. On 17th April, Jay will release his debut solo EP ‘Disappearing Act’. The four track EP marks the beginning of a new chapter, trading the angst ridden heavy vocals of his previous acts, for a stripped back sound which lingers somewhere between Country and folk. Having spent the past few years living in the lush surrounds of the Tallebudgera Valley, you can’t help but to feel the relaxed vibe and serenity of life in the bush seep into these tracks. While the record is a welcome return to the fold, ‘Disappearing Act’ is only an introduction of what’s to come. Jay has thirty+ songs demoed and ready to record in the near future. While these are strange times for the music industry, Jase looks forward to playing live shows as soon as he can. ‘Disappearing Act’ all songs written and arranged by Jason Brown. All guitars and Keys played by Jason Brown. Drums by Aaron Sterling (John Mayer, Taylor Swift, Lana Del Ray), Bass by Omar Hanlon & Strings on ‘Bottle It Up’ by Randy Slaugh. Produced and mixed by Forrester Savell. ‘Disappearing Act’ out April 17 on all streaming platforms. The title track and lead single ‘Disappearing Act’ available for listen the week prior via Jay Browns socials.
