09.01.2022 Congratulations to James Butz who recently completed his Electrical Apprenticeship. James is going to take some time off before he decides what he would like to do with his well-earned qualification. So James, why did you decide to take on electrical apprenticeship? I wanted to do work that was hands on and have a licence that is there for life ... When you started your apprenticeship was it what you expected? Yes, I had done work experience when I was at school and realised this is what I wanted to do What do you like about it now? Wide range of skills, working in a team environment What did you like most about the apprenticeship? Getting to know new people, learning from different tradesman What did you like about electrogroup? The support that you give during the time of your apprenticeship and to be able to have security and change hosts to try different work. What would you tell a 1st year whose starting there apprenticeship? Work hard and listen What’s your future hold? Taking some time off to assess where I go from here. 05.01.2022 Congratulations to John Cook who recently completed his Apprenticeship with electrogroup and Star Electrical Newcastle. We caught up with John before he joined Star Electrical as a fully qualified Electrician. Why did you do an apprenticeship? I wasn’t sure what to do after school, so I thought a trade would be a great way to go.... What was the best thing about your apprenticeship? Learning new things and gaining a lot of experiences. What did you like about electrogroup? The support provided and that there was always someone to call. What would you tell an apprentice that is just starting out? Don’t fall behind in your profiling. Where to from here? Work for Star and progress through the ranks. Well done John and all the best for your bright future.

05.01.2022 Congratulation to Ryan McKnight who has just completed his Electrical Apprenticeship. This is Ryan’s 2nd trade, his first was Fitter Machinist. Ryan will be starting with Heyday 5 as a qualified Electrician. Why did you decide to take on electrical apprenticeship? Working as a fitter machinist I worked with electricians and had a chance to work with automated guided vehicles some PLC and that sparked my interest in doing the electrical apprenticeship. ... When you started your apprenticeship was it what you expected? Coming from an industrial background it was easier to transition into commercial/residential , but there was a lot to learn and that’s what I didn’t realise at the time. What do you like about it now? I like the idea of leadership and feel comfortable being given responsibility and also the money good. What did you like most about the apprenticeship? Chance to grow as a person and sometimes being out of my comfort zone. What did you like about electrogroup? Working with different hosts during my time I got to meet and learn from many experienced tradesman and supervisors which has helped me get to where I am today, getting the extra help from the field officers. What would you tell a 1st year whose starting their apprenticeship? Take ownership and responsibility of your apprenticeship and we all have unlimited potential but it is up to us to reach it. What does your future hold? Would like to progress to a leading hand within the next 1-2 years then I would like become a supervisor in the next 2-5 years then project manager 5-10 years. Cody finished off 2020 by completing his Electrical Apprenticeship and scoring a new job as a qualified Tradesman with Heyday5 starting in the New Year Cody, why did you decide to take on an Electrical Apprenticeship? It seemed like the best trade to get into and one with a long term future. ... When you started your Apprenticeship was it what you expected? Not at first, there is such variety of work that is involved in the electrical trade, it surprised me. What do you like about it now? It’s a licence trade and there is a challenge in every job that you do. What did you like most about the Apprenticeship? Learning new things and meeting new people What did you like about electrogroup? I really enjoyed the fact that the work is more diverse and that you get to try different things, I was able to have job security and change Hosts and try different work. What would you tell a 1st year whose starting there Apprenticeship? Show initiative, keep busy and keep on top of your study at TECH. What’s your future hold? 03.01.2022 Congratulations to Rami Hazim who completed his Electrical Apprenticeship this week and will be starting next week as a Qualified Tradesman next week with Heyday. We caught up with Rami before he heads off to bigger and better things. Why did you decide to take on electrical apprenticeship ? I wanted to try different trades but my brother was just about to qualify as an Electrician through electrogroup and he told me to go into electrical. ... When you started your apprenticeship was it what you expected? I didn’t expect it would be so diverse. What do you like about it now? It’s a good clean trade and I really enjoyed working with the Tradesman. What did you like most about the apprenticeship? Being tested to come out of my comfort zone. What did you like about electrogroup? The fact that electrogroup would come and visit sites every 3 months to check how I was progressing and the extra assistant with things like tech etc. What would you tell a 1st year whose starting there apprenticeship? I started with a company direct and wasn’t happen so don’t be scared to see that there are better options out there for you. I’m so happy I found electrogroup. What does your future hold? Stay on as tradesman at Heyday and see what happens from there. Well done Rami, you have a bright future.
