22.01.2022 The safety and well-being of our families, children, staff and wider community are at the heart of all we do and as such, we would like to provide you with an update on how the latest announcement of the three-day lockdown restrictions may impact the operation of Elephas Education centres. As announced by the Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk, the Greater Brisbane area, affecting Brisbane City, Logan City, Moreton Bay Regional and Redland City will enter a three-day lo...ckdown from 5pm today; Monday 29th March 2021. All residents in those areas are being asked to stay at home unless it is for essential work, providing healthcare for a vulnerable person, essential shopping or to exercise in your local neighbourhood. In addition, people will be required to wear a mask at all times while outside their home, however children under the age of 12 are exempt. Early learning services are considered an essential service and may remain open however families are advised to stay home unless they are performing essential work and as always if anyone is feeling unwell, stay home and get tested. Our Management Team will be in contact today with all families booked for a session this week to discuss their care needs during this lockdown period. This decision was made in a bid to stop the spread of the highly-infectious United Kingdom strain of the COVID-19 virus. We will provide further advice as it becomes available, however until then stay safe.

Priscilla understands the early childhood education industry well having held a range of positions throughout her career, from an Assistant Educator to a Centre Manager. As the Business Manager for Elephas Education, Priscilla oversees all administrative aspects of centre support including financial control and ma...rketing projects as well as being heavily involved in the new centre start up process. She is dedicated to providing quality early childhood education that prepares children for the next phase of their education by ensuring our educators are able to provide aesthetically pleasing environments where children feel a genuine sense of belonging. When asked what the most rewarding aspect of being an early childhood education professional was, she said I love co-constructing with the children to be led on an adventure of discovery. To see the childrens faces light up when it all clicks into place and then watch them take what they have learnt and put it into a new context honestly warms my heart. Priscilla is committed to ensuring the well-being of each Elephas child by creating and cultivating a sense of home at each centre.

19.01.2022 So many incredible outdoor areas for children to explore When children are outside they have the freedom for big movements like running, jumping, kicking and throwing and these movements are good for their health, fitness and physical development. We make time for all children to get outside and explore the natural environment, have adventures and test their physical limits.

We give children as many opportunities to control their day and make meaningful decisions and choices about the things that affect them. We would love to welcome you and your child to the tribe https://elephaseducation.com.au/

Vanessa and Natasha answered questions our educators had surrounding Indigenous perspectives and how they can embed these perspectives and practises into their teaching.

17.01.2022 What is your childs favourite song to sing or play? Music ignites all areas of a childs development and it helps the body and the mind to work together. Exposing children to music during early development helps them learn the sounds and meanings of words, strengthens their memory skills and most importantly, brings so much joy

15.01.2022 Childhood is a time of magicwhere a playground becomes a pirate ship, or a blanket becomes a superhero cape When children use their imagination, they are developing crucial psychological and emotional capacities, that help them understand the world, learn to solve problems, create new possibilities and even change the world.

15.01.2022 What is this young potter creating? Children show many parts of themselves through clay experiences such as initiative, curiosity and problem solving. For young children, clay holds no preconceived ideas to what it is or how its supposed to be its just a natural material that can be manipulated into anything!

13.01.2022 When children learn about sand therapy, they also become better at understanding their own emotions, feelings and overall awareness of their bodies. This helps with communication skills, emotional intelligence and mindfulness which are important skills to have throughout their lives. We hope to see children utilising this space to achieve feelings of comfort and security.

13.01.2022 WEEKEND WORDS OF WISDOM Alex Smith - Writer, Researcher and Founder of the award-winning blog, PlayGroundology. RISK & PLAY... Children both need and want to take risks in order to explore their limits, venture into new experiences and for their development. Of course any injury is distressing for children and those who care for them, but the experience of minor scrapes, bangs or bruises are a universal part of childhood that have a positive role in child development. Children need opportunities to develop skills in negotiating the environment (including risks), learn how to use equipment safely and for its designed purpose, develop coordination and orientation skills and learn about the consequences (positive & negative) of risk taking. Our playgrounds will provide many opportunities for managed risk which is engaging, developmentally appropriate and beneficial for children of all ages. You can read more from Alex on his blog here: https://playgroundology.wordpress.com

08.01.2022 Learning happens in a child’s own time. This means that every child is on a unique journey and it is an educator’s role to facilitate this journey. Let us guide your child on their learning journey. Enquire now https://elephaseducation.com.au/contact/

08.01.2022 Our educators draw from several key educational philosophers and their methods and research to create environments and programs that allow children to learn positively and progressively. In particular, our educators use elements of Lev Vygotskys philosophy to create learning and development opportunities. Social environments have a large influence on how children think and what they think about, and Vygotsky promotes this idea that rich environments provide more tools for the child in the Zone of Proximal Development. At Elephas Education, we have created environments that ensures each child receives guidance and encouragement from our educators and other children and therefore work towards mastering learning on their own.

06.01.2022 Join us as we celebrate children around the globe and recognise the importance of the UN Rights Of A Child. Designated by the nations of the world in 1954, Universal Children’s Day calls society to a greater response to the plight of many millions of children around the world who are denied the basic necessities of a happy childhood and the education to develop their capacities. It also calls us in Australia to consider those conditions in society which affect the lives and... future of our own children. We were all children once. And we all share the desire for the well-being of our children, which has always been and will continue to be the most universally cherished aspiration of humankind. Our mission at Elephas Education is to be active and respectful advocates for all children's rights in our community and world around us. #elephaseducation #worldchildrensday #earlychildhood #earlylearning #earlychildhoodeducation #childcare
