24.01.2022 Do you have rules in your house? We're assuming you have at least some.. Did you come up with them or did your children? Teacher Tom explains to us how there's power in children coming up with their own rules, or as he calls them - agreements. Instead of having to say "no hitting, no taking things from others" you can instead remind them of what we agreed on together which is so much more effective. This excerpt comes from a video where Teacher Tom unpacks the power of inform...ation statements and how they stop children from simply responding to us as adults and instead encourage them to think for themselves. It will challenge you to think through all your language habits and come up with new ways of engaging with children. Definitely worth checking out! 15.01.2022 What good are ANTS...!?! Entomologists and ecologists argue that we literally can't live without them. The children in our PIAGET Studio (3-4years) have been investigating a number of bugs that live in their natural habitat at Elephas Education Loganholme... So what good are ants? Ants are often described as ecosystem engineers because they perform many vital ecological services. Four significant reasons we can't live without ants are because they:... Inquiry-based learning is different from traditional approaches because it reverses the order of learning. Instead of presenting information, or ‘the answer’, up-front, educators start with a range of scenarios, questions and problems for students to navigate. 15.01.2022 Today is R U OK?Day and the message this year is ‘THERE’S MORE TO SAY AFTER R U OK?’ We want you to know what to say when someone says they’re not OK and guide... them through how they can continue a conversation that could change a life. 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. You can learn what to say at www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask

10.01.2022 With school holidays nearly upon us, we thought we’d take some time to chat about how to make memories and have more fun with your kids. This might come really easily to you but unlike being perpetually exhausted, enjoying your kids company is not a universal parenting experience. We love our kids and we know it’s important to intentionally connect with them...! Here’s some advice on making memories and having fun through ParentTV from Dr Justin Coulson's Happy Families (fath...er of 6 girls) and Maggie Dent (mother of 4 boys).. we have a feeling these guys know what they're talking about! https://parenttv.com/v/the-importance-of-family-traditions/ https://parenttv.com//how-you-can-have-more-fun-with-your/

08.01.2022 The Eatery is an environment in which the children dine communally. The dining space is very significant in our centres as it offers an invitation for the children to bond and build verbal social skills, a love for healthy food and nurturing self care in our bodies, and many practical life skills. #HealthyKidsHappyKids #ElephasEducation

04.01.2022 :: Nature & Science :: This week at Elephas Education Loganholme the children have been exploring the best of what Spring in Queensland has to offer blue skies, green landscapes and colourful, rich, florals...! When we, as adults, are able to reawaken and share our own sense of wonder, we are better able to recognize the value of children's ideas and perceptions and build on their lead in meaningful ways. As children observe, reflect, record, and share nature's patterns and... rhythms, they are participating in a process that promotes scientific and ecological awareness, problem solving, and creativity. When given first hand experiences and authentic dialogue, science and nature take on true meaning in our lives. As children explore, we ask meaningful open-ended questions to further their investigation and heighten observation skills. We encourage them to use all their senses. We ask what they see, hear, smell, taste, and feel. We support them to look for traits and characteristics of objects that have piqued their interest: sizes, shapes, textures, colours, patterns, rhythms, and more!. By exploring together, guiding children's research, and helping them document their findings, we provide opportunities to help children translate their interests into meaningful scientific investigation. What will you discover, together, in nature this weekend? #ImApartOfTheElephasTribe #EarlyChildhoodEducation #Nature #NaturePlay #KidsInNature #Kindergarten
