07.01.2022 Exercise and Immune Health . As we know, Exercise helps boost our immune system! Not just to protect us from Covid-19, but all illness that our bodies may have to fight, especially with winter coming up! . But what does the research suggest to be best? ... . Current research states that regular bouts of moderate intensity exercise support immune function, where sustained bouts of highly intense exercise can suppress immune function. . It was also shown that risk of Upper Respiratory Infections increased with sustained strenuous exercise- something to be aware of during the Covid-19 pandemic. . This may work in great at a time where gyms and training facilities are closed, where we can take a small step back from our training and use this opportunity to work on things that we may have neglected before! . At the end of the day, our main goals of training should be to remain healthy and active for both today and tomorrow! . We are still open for normal business hours and are here to help when and where we can! Please get into contact with us if you are having trouble with your training. See more

05.01.2022 WHY WE ASSESS . Here at Elevate Health Clinic, we assess our athletes and patients to ensure that they are ready to tackle the demands of sport and day to day life, and not just be out of pain . @petertarros_ has been working extremely hard with us through his ACL rehab and is finally cleared to play! Here is a snippet of part of his assessment on his discharge ... . Here @gh.rehab is completing the 30S side hop test to assess single leg stability, endurance and hop performance between both sides. To pass the test, both sides need to have at least 95% symmetry. . @petertarros_ smashed his assessment with flying colours, and we can’t wait to see him back out on the pitch. . If you have any questions about your rehab, send us a private message or call the clinic on 8883 0178 See more

03.01.2022 How to train at home . How can I still train hard while I’m working out at home? . With gyms being closed and now being limited to minimal space and equipment, the question we have constantly been asked is, how can I still train at home when I have no weights? Bodyweight exercises aren’t enough.... . Of course, being restricted to training at home limits the equipment we have access too as well as the space we can use. However, there are many training variables we can modify to still get adequate stimulus to our training and get a good session in! . Tempo- To make any exercise more challenging we can slow down the tempo to increase time under tension the muscle endures during a set. For example, during the lowering phase of the exercise, take +5 seconds to complete to feel an additional burn. . Frequency- Normally an ideal training week for us can range anywhere between 3-6x per week. However to increase how much we are doing, we can always increase the amount of sessions we complete throughout a week or even day! . Intensity- Usually when we train the standard rest period normally is 1-2 minutes, unless varied for specific training goals. One way to increase our training intensity is to increase our work>rest ratio, by decreasing our overall rest time during the session. . Sets vs. Reps- 3x10, 4x8, etc are our usual set and rep schemes we see people going through when they train. In order to increase our overall training load, we can always increase how many sets we complete, and how many repetitions we do in each set. We can also get creative with this aspect and do exercises for a fixed period of time, until failure, AMRAPs, etc. . Alternative Resistance- Barbells, dumbbells, kettlebells may all be out of the equation for people who don’t have a home gym set up, however that doesn’t mean we still can’t use bands and other objects around the house to account for load. . We are still open for normal business hours and are here to help when and where we can! Please get into contact with us if you are having trouble with working out at home! See more

It is one of the most common reason why people seek medical attention. 2 - Movement and gentle exercise has been shown to help reduce pain and stiffness.
