05.01.2022 Proverbs 1:7 the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction ESV It’s possible to know what the Bible says and still not be pleasing to God When I was an alcoholic & was living in rebellion to God, the weird thing is I would often read the Proverbs to try & gain secret wisdom / knowledge. ... I knew all the right things but I had no loving reverence for God. We never gain any kind of lasting wisdom or real godly knowledge, until we are willing to do things Gods way, instead of our way - we must submit our lives to the Lordship of Jesus and then we will be wise Do we have a loving reverential fear towards our holy God? [that is, worshiping Him and regarding Him as truly awesome] When we do, we are quick to do things God’s way, instead of our way - this is [its starting point and its essence] the beginning of knowledge and wisdom that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, to reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God's mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:2-3 ESV Prayer: Father, help me not just accumulate knowledge but to be obedient to what you say. I admit I can’t do this on my own I need your Holy Spirit! I thank you for your great love and that you freely pour out your heavily wisdom to those who love you and ask for this! Amen
