15.01.2022 Our clients are often shocked to find out that the NSW Trustee and Guardian charges fees to be an executor of an estate when someone dies. These fees can be as high as 4.4% of an estate. As an example, if you have an estate worth $1.5million (including a house), the NSW Trustee and Guardian will charge $30,800 to be the executor. Sometimes people do require an external executor, but it is not for everyone given the fees involved. It might be time to revisit your will to see who your executor is when you die, especially to make sure they are still your first choice.
