21.01.2022 Today is the 11th of the 11th and Remembrance Day. I have had the honour over the last few years to work and photograph war veterans for the RSL. This is Reg Chard, 97 years young and a veteran of Kokoda and its infamous trail. I saw Reg been interviewed this evening on the news and jotted my memory. I photographed him at the Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway last April. I spent a year living in one of the nearby towns when I was about 11 years old. 16.01.2022 It was the 200th anniversary of Greece’s Independence Day this past week so I thought a little #archaeology today with the #temple of #poseidon at Cape Sounion in @greece . This place is #magical especially at #sunset . No matter how many #people are there at the #time a silence comes over the place as the #sun sets over the #ocean until it’s dark. Then in typical #greek #style a security breaks the serenity with a loud everybody out, I lock up. 13.01.2022 I don’t normally post this much in one go but I love this story. Veteran Reg Chard spent time on the Kokoda trail. I photographed him for the @rslnsw and when I finished he asked me to see his photo albums. I was a bit shocked at the wonderful images he had. He documented his time in the jungle. I asked him what sought of camera he had. His answer was I don’t know, I got it of one of the Yanks who was going to toss it into the ocean. He also was given a pile of film. My next ...question was how did you get them developed. His answer was, this photographer called George Silk, have you heard of him. I had to pick up my jaw from the floor as this man is a hero of mine who worked for Life magazine as well as the Australian Govt. 07.01.2022 I met this couple who were in their late 80’s at a #family shoot. Every #picture does tell a #story and this one does so. I asked the old fellow to put his arm around his wife and he sharply replied, son I haven’t done that since 1945. He did so and they started giggling like #newlyweds .
