19.01.2022 Recently heard of some ridiculous prices being charged for Dreadlocking. Yes it is very specialised skill, physically demanding and time consuming. However there is such a thing as pricing yourself out of the market. My prices in Feb were a promotion price of $40 per hour. (Had some VERY happy customers...) My normal price as of 1st of March 2020 is $60 per hour. I do travel when called for and my usual territory is from Harvey down to Bunbury.... I will usually only do 2-3 hour sittings, depending on the length and thickness of your hair we may need two sittings. Don’t let someone charge you more than what is reasonable. I will do a high quality job for a reasonable price. Peace. See more

17.01.2022 Caring for your dreads. Yes you wash them. I can’t tell you how many times I am asked this... A good quality natural shampoo is best, and do not condition. ... The reason I say a natural shampoo is that a lot of fashionable/popular shampoos contain conditioning agents that can build up in your dreads and even begin to undo them. How often you wash is up to you. Some people are able to leave their hair a number of days without washing but I recommend every 2nd or 3rd day. Daily is probably not necessary as without conditioner your scalp may dry out too much. No need to scrub and fuss, simply massage shampoo into your scalp and rinse thoroughly. New dreads can definitely benefit from a ocean swim once a week or alternatively a mild salt solution spay an hour before washing. Comment a pic below if you have dreads and wanna show them off.

14.01.2022 The last few days have been a lovely privilege. 6 years ago the adorable Narelle was completely bald thanks to a brush with breast cancer. Today she fulfilled a long held dream of having dreads. So a full head install, loads of coffee and laughs and chats. There were tears and squeels of joy etc...we were both over the moon.

09.01.2022 If permanent dreads are just a bit too scary, try some fakeys. I can install inexpensive synthetic dreads with no damage to your hair and they can be removed, or replaced when ever you like. AND they come in aaaaaallllll the colours!!!!!

08.01.2022 There is some great history on dreads, even with indigenous aussies. They’ve been a warrior’s dress (Spartans) and a religious statement (Rastafarian) and a general anti-fashion statement with the hippies. Now, lots of people love the look but are scared of the permanency of them. It can be a permanent choice with a common technique of back comb and crochet. This technique ‘felts’ the hair together and locks it nice and tight so no waiting for your dreads to form and look goo...d like the more traditional ‘neglect’ way of the past. It is an instant style. But what lots of people don’t realise is that you can start with a soft and less damaging technique that can be brushed out if you are not happy or wanting a change. With the back comb and twist and rip method, the hair strands aren’t broken, just knotted and can be done as loose or tight as you want. If you like them, keep them, we can crochet to lock them in, or they will lock up over time with some rolling and sea salt spray. Or, I can painlessly remove them for you. It’s always good to have options. Nix

05.01.2022 It’s time you knew the facts about dreads. Yes, you wash them... NO, insects don’t nest in them... NO, they don’t smell... Yes you can brush them out...... That’s right. Using a soft twist and rip method, you can remove them within a few months. Dreads for summer? Call me for a chat if you are curious.
