21.01.2022 As the construction industry is a major contributor to global waste & environment degradation, we have been researching ways that as a practice we can limit pollution in our designs. We would like to share one of our findings a different approach to roofing and insulation. Seaweed. Læsø, an island off the Danish Coast, has traditionally used seaweed as a roofing material. Harvested locally, dried, and installed layer by layer until waterproof, this material is protected aga...inst rot, is carbon negative, and has biophilic benefits. 19.01.2022 It's interesting to see builders now talking about sustainable buildings, however often it's only lip service. A simple idea that costs nothing is the correct orientation of a house, but too often we see houses that are designed with unprotected windows facing east or west. East and west windows tend to overheat, as the lower sun in the morning & afternoon is difficult to control. Installing blinds or shutters internally are not the answer, as the heat is already inside the house - the best solution is to shade the windows externally. West facing windows as in the photo mean air-conditioning costs will be high!

15.01.2022 The alterations for Darling Downs ENT at the Medici Medical Centre in Toowoomba have been completed by Graham Nielsen Constructions. The project included new examination rooms and waiting areas. Thanks to Graham & his team for working in so well with the client, and for a quality finish to the project.
