22.01.2022 Spied my paintings in this glorious lot
19.01.2022 Happy Sunday!! Hope you’ve had a fabulous weekend. The two works of mine now hanging in the brand new @studiodirect_michaelreid stockroom were my final paintings for 2020!! This is the 2nd work in today’s feature- it’s called Lemon Gum Show. It’s quite muted in palate for me (I hear you say) I know, but it’s got pale yellow, and there’s pale pink also. These were a joy to paint. And a delight to be hung at Michael Reid Studio Direct. #Repost @studiodirect_michaelre...id with @make_repost STOCKROOM HIGHLIGHT Elisabeth Howlett is known for her expressive portraits of flowering Australian flora. Using a traditional hog-hair paintbrush laden with impasto oil, she guides her brush, emphasising the impression left by each brushstroke. Elisabeth forages wildflowers and formulates them into ‘sculptural style’ arrangements in vases, photographing, drawing, underpainting, and then painting them in oil on canvas or linen. She applies lavish quantities of impasto oil paint to describe her subject. 19.01.2022 Sam my youngest giving the thumbs up to the recent studio reorganisation. It does feel a bit too organised for a studio, but I know where everything is. This is marvellous. Containers are from @kmartaus; they are brilliant.
17.01.2022 I am very pleased to be featured today by @studiodirect_michaelreid. Many thanks to the lovely Amber and Amy for this fabulous post. I am also very pleased that Foliage Array with Gumnuts is inspired by the floristry of @flowersvasette in Melbourne. Vanessa is a gracious woman to permit me to be inspired quite regularly with her sumptuous blooms and arrangements. 13.01.2022 |I’M STILL HERE| a personal post to let you know what’s going on on planet Elisabeth. I’ve been somewhat absent from the easel as have been present for my family. One of my children has special needs. Mostly due to an additional diagnosis he received late last year, additional to his hearing loss. There is considerable establishment to be done to set him up going forward. Which I am getting on top of. I have a good background to do this work - but it is very new to me, and i...ts own world. The NDIS. As I was doing this role I was feeling frustrated, as it was taking me away from my own work. But it was taking me away from my work for good reason. I am honoured to help my son. At the same time I am missing my work. I am sad I have been away. I do hope I am close to getting back into the studio because it’s hard being away from it, and here! Happy Monday and hope you are all good.
05.01.2022 New work. As it’s happening in my studio. Orchids left and right. A special one in the middle too @bess_paddington Happy Sunday. #studioshot
02.01.2022 This is my current work in progress. #australianflowers #gumblossom #limitedpalate. Up before my offspring to get this ready for oil. #notbadmamma #underpainting. #fortiteretsuaviter
01.01.2022 Hello!! If you were following my stories yesterday you would have seen the canvas behind me from the beginning. The progression from charcoal to this underpainting on a 1m x 1m20 canvas. I’m back in the studio with a fresh approach. A break was good for my practice because it’s given me clarity. In the meantime, over the break I’ve reorganised much of my home, including my studio. There were many Kmart trips and deliveries in this endeavour. I love Kmart. Next step with the canvas behind me is to go back over it with charcoal.
01.01.2022 Acknowledging my parents today reaching 50 years of marriage. Their Golden Anniversary. Celebration last night at my sister’s home. Which means as a honeymoon baby, I turn 50 at the end of this year!! Second pic with my mum and dad, me, and my 3 sisters Susannah, Brigette (me) and Jacinta. Absent is my dear late brother Tim, the youngest. ... Was good to get a family photo, no luck in getting our husbands and the children in one frame. Congratulations Mum and Dad!
