16.01.2022 R U OK? We can admit covid-19 has ruined so many important things for us. 2020 has really put us to the test and challenged us through these tough times. As this lockdown progresses whether its stage 3 or stage 4, our team will always be open to chat to. In Australia alone, we lose too many people to suicide every year. It is the leading cause of death. Although we know this virus is not fair on us, it is important to stay connected with friends and family. 15.01.2022 A SECOND CHANCE This is Brett Grigg's story. In year 7, I was near the end but despised school so much that I stopped attending. This was the start of when I associated myself with some mates who lived in the area that weren't attending school either. This is when I was first introduced to weed and I loved it! My mum sent me to psychologists and counsellors but I continued to be rebelious and doing what I wanted. I got to a stage where I wanted to work so I decided to compl...ete the rest of my years at Dandenong TAFE for 18 months to get an apprenticeship. During this time, I met a group of boys and that's when my drug addiction began. When I was 23, I had my first taste of Crystal Meth and it blew my mind. I found the drug of my dreams. This became a strong addiction as I could afford it and wanted it everyday. I was spending $300 a day on it. The more money I got, the more I was using it. I was living a hectic lifestyle and didn't feel like myself anymore. Eventually, I got caught stealing around $4000 of Copper. I lost my job that I had for 8 years, sitting in a cell on remand coming off drugs cold turkey. I hit rock bottom. At this point, I decided not to touch drugs again. I became depressed and suicidal, which I attempted 3 times. I was seeing health professionals in a really short time. The only thing that helped me was drugs. I was back on it and felt so much better. I said to myself 'this has to be the turning point in my life, I have to change my ways before I end up homeless, in jail or dead'. This is when Jesus started working in my life. A week later, I met an awesome bunch of guys at a place called Elishacare. They started singing Jesus songs and praying, but without judging I opened my heart and let Jesus in. My life and motivation really changed that day so I kept coming back. Geoff gave me the opportunity to work with the guys. This gave me so much purpose and motivation. I was drug free and happy. I thank Jesus everyday for his mercy and for loving me even after all the mess I created. He brought an amazing woman into my life and blessed me with my precious daughter, Zoe. My life changed for the better after I started properly loving Jesus. The old me is dead. Jesus made me a new man! THANK YOU LORD! Brett got blessed with two beautiful twins and is still living his greatest life. You are one incredible, strong man now Brett! You're in great hands.

14.01.2022 RESTORING HOPE AND VALUE Hello, my name is Dale and I'm a recovering drug addict. I'm clean today and that is entirely due to a power greater than myself that I choose to call God. After a 30 year addiction cycle, I fell to my knees inside a drug rehab and realised I could not beat addiction or face any other stronghold in my own strength. I lost so much through my addiction but worst of all I lost myself and withdrew myself from the world completely. I experienced a marr...iage breakdown and homelessness. This led me down into the darkest period of my life. I started drinking at 13 years old, progressed to consume prescription drugs then used Cannibus for a few years. Eventually, my main drug of choice became Amphetamines and this is where I believe I really headed to the bottom. It took 17 years and from then on, I could no longer hide my ice addiction from my family and friends. I was known as a drinker and weed smoker but I kept my ice use well under the radar for quite a few years. Addiction is a progressive disease and eventually the cracks started to show as my wife and I were going through an I.V.F program. I was injecting in between 1-2 grams of methamphetamine a day and eventually the marriage folded. I lived in a car for about 6 months and it was extremely tough. I was in and out of psychosis, doing ridiculous crimes to support my habit and dealing drugs was not an option anymore as I had already withdrawn myself from the world so I struggled to interact with anyone. I see God was at work the whole time and allowing Satan to break me down only to restore me from what I was going through. He was there to guide me from living in my car to eventually going on the street to help other men and women surrender and hand themselves over to the care of God. Today I am just over 2 years clean and living a Christian lifestyle. Life is still tough and I still have a long way to go but I do my best to follow God's lead. If someone was to ask me, 'what is the main thing I did to achieve 2 years sobriety?' Firstly I would say, I surrendered to God. Secondly, I couldn't do it alone. Thirdly but more importantly, cut all ties from my past life and remove myself from anywhere I could be emotionally triggered. Thank you Lord for your grace and mercy upon me. I will forever be grateful for you being there at my breaking point. Amen. Thank you for sharing your story Dale. God bless you

This leaves us to URGENTLY find homely accommodation for our guys in recovery, ample space for community gatherings and a secure building for our social enterprises including equipment, vehicles and trailers! We received confirmation yesterday from the office of The Hon. Lisa Neville, Minister for Police a...nd Emergency Services that Elishacare will be required to vacate the premises of 14a Croydon Road, Croydon due to the sale of the property in the open market. It appears this chapter of the old fire station has come to a close. We have expanded beyond the walls of the old fire station and look to the next step with strong faith and nervous excitement! Sure! Change is hard at times but when you feel the bigger plans unraveling before our eyes we know that God has got this, got US! Please pray for us to find a large house for 12+ men; We will need a secure factory space or a building joint to the accommodation (400 600m2) to store our equipment include worship space, large kitchen and bathroom facilities. We must completely vacate the premises by 30th April therefore we are hoping to find accommodation and workspace much sooner! Looking forward to coming back next year for Father's day. Thanks to everyone that volunteered today to make it all possible. A total of $250 was raised to put back into the community.

01.01.2022 Judy's cooking with gas thanks to Elisha Care. A Montrose lady has been urging her husband of 40 years to install a new kitchen. When he was called up from the waiting list for a knee transplant, Tanya decided now is the time to act. With only four days available, her search to find a company that could undertake this seemingly impossible task began. The team from Elisha Care from Croydon came to the rescue, and under the supervision of a local builder, the team demolished and removed the old kitchen and fittings and installed a brand new system. Tanya was thrilled with the the speed and professionalism of the whole team and was amazed that she had never heard of this local group.
