24.01.2022 I miss my bench! My little corner of chaos so beautifully crafted by my clever man @niceman_and_co. A jeweller’s bench is so much more than just a functional workspace. It’s a little bubble of our own style of creativity. It’s a whirring, clinking, smoking haven from the rest of the world sometimes. It’s a microcosm of metal particles and gems and tools all in harmony. It’s a private space to work out life’s frustrations and turn dull meaningless parts of things into a creation of beauty, to be treasured by someone else. I could do with some time in this little bubble at the moment. Melbourne’s Lockdown 2.0 is wearing me out mentally the last few days. I don’t think I’m the only maker in this little funk. How are you coping with your restricted/reshuffled creativity at the moment?
22.01.2022 Mexicali Ladrillo Studs // Handmade in 9ct White gold. Available from @arborbrunswick and @kingallery
22.01.2022 Gem lovers // Just a little appreciation post for my recent studio wall acquisition from the multi-faceted talent (see what I did there? ) that is @trebliganna This beautiful Sapphire was meticulously cut/faceted by Anna in her own design, and then photographed, also by Anna, just so that gem lovers like myself could adorn our walls with them. Go check out her page if you too would like some stunning gem related artworks
22.01.2022 A little bit of Mayan inspiration in Brunswick, Melbourne. This artwork is located right next door to my beautiful stockist @arborbrunswick who are doing an incredible job trying to work through the intense lockdowns on retail in Melbourne right now. If you are looking for my jewels while I am away from the bench for a while, or other ideas for gifts and tokens of love, please look Arbor up. They have a plethora of amazing designers and products ready to post out to you via their online store. Side note // I don’t know who to credit this work too, so if you do please let me know!
20.01.2022 Handmade I’m hand filing in the mexicali detail here. It requires some concentration. A slip in the wrong direction and I have to start over. But I do it all by hand because that’s how I like it! I could probably save time by doing all this in CAD, but there’s just no fun in that for me. ... As a side note, doing these handmade processes is also part of my design play. I often see potential new ideas as I’m working, that end up being created at a later date. I frequently look at this half finished section of Mexicali detail and want to make something with those flag shapes. It’s not resolved yet. But it will be one day if I keep playing. Anyone else find that happens in their hand-making process?
20.01.2022 I’m feeling those scratchy Wintery travel feels today. I took this photo in a magical misty mountain village in Mexico called San Jose del Pacifico. How’s that for some alliteration?! If you’ve been here yourself, you’ll know just how magical it is ;) It will be a long while before I can visit here again... but I continue to be inspired by this beautiful country in my work. I have some new Mexicali treasures hitting the shelves @arborbrunswick very soon! I can’t wait to show you. They might just help you scratch those wintery wanderlust itches too.
19.01.2022 Australian Argyle Mine Closure // The Argyle mine in WA closed this week, after 37 years of production, as previously planned, for a period of rehabilitation of the land. Unfortunately, this means Australian diamonds will be in short supply (and rising cost) very soon. I have a small amount of stock, but if you had your heart set on using Australian diamonds in your jewellery at some point (white, champagne or pink) now is the time to get in touch to see if I can source it from remaining stock at my suppliers. Pictured here are two recent diamonds sourced for custom rings from the Argyle mine. Champagne diamonds in C2/3 colour and C3/4 colour.
19.01.2022 Which pair would you pick? Mexicali Capitel & Ladrillo studs handmade in 9ct yellow gold and set with Australian champagne diamonds. Available at my stockists @arborbrunswick and @kingallery

18.01.2022 This magnificent beast made it to it’s forever home just before Melbourne’s stage 4 lockdown commenced... so glad that worked out! Here’s a little pre-setting pic to tease you with before I reveal the finished ring ;)
17.01.2022 Art Deco inspired // White Gold, White Sapphires and customer’s own Emerald make for a very striking ring in this recent commission for Erica. We’ve since discovered this shape works really well as a stacking ring! Making it extra versatile to wear. It’s always a pleasure to bring a customers ideas to fruition. Thanks for the opportunity (again) Erica
17.01.2022 Side view // Mexicali Hexágono ring I really enjoy the side view on that signature Mexicali detail :) Thought you might too. Handmade in 18ct White Gold. Mauve grey Spinel solitaire.... Available @arborbrunswick

15.01.2022 Vintage inspired // So pleased to finally be able to share this beauty with you! One very patient lady has been waiting for this one since March. It was worth the wait I’m told :) Handmade in 18ct white & rose golds, and set with 5 graduating Australian Argyle diamonds. Beautifully hand engraved on the sides by Nick Karagulidi in Melbourne, giving it that vintage style. I love jobs like this one. I’m so lucky to have such wonderful customers who appreciate the lifetime qual...ity of handmade jewellery. I’ll pop up some process pics for those interested soon :) @ Melbourne, Victoria, Australia
14.01.2022 Mexicali Columna Earrings // Rubies and 9ct yellow gold Available @arborbrunswick
14.01.2022 Mexicali Mirador alternate version // 18ct White Gold & White Australian Argyle diamonds. One of the many benefits of custom jewellery, is that if you want to tweak the layout of an existing design, you can! Instead of the stone layout being the usual 2/3/2 for the mirador ring, this customer wanted 1/5/1. So she got it :) It’s almost a cross between the Mirador and Entrada styles, and it looks great! A recent commission for @arborbrunswick.
12.01.2022 Umm... HELLO! I’ll have the same but bigger please. As you wish. Custom sheild cut Garnet & Australian Argyle Champagne Diamond banger coming right up!
11.01.2022 New // Mexicali Capitel Studs in 9ct yellow gold. Set with two petite Argyle Champagne Diamonds. Capitel = Capital - the top feature section of a column in architecture. This will make more sense when I show you some other new earrings ;) Available soon from @arborbrunswick.
10.01.2022 A little BTS of setting the stones on this one. Takes me much longer than the highly skilled diamond setter that does most of my stone setting... but practice is important if I’m ever going to do more of it myself. The majority of my silver Mexicali range is set by me. A good setting job can truly make or break a piece of jewellery. So I set my silver work because if I stuff it up and have to make the piece again... it’s not quite so costly! (It’s no less frustrating when it happens though!) This ring is 9ct White Gold which is not too much harder to push with a graver than silver. So I gave this one a go! It’s not perfect, but that’s how you learn, right?
10.01.2022 A little before & after on a repair I did recently. A well loved and worn illusion style setting replaced and recut, with the diamond reset. To be fair, the more impressive part of the work here is done by the diamond setter! Looks like a brand new ring, yes? Repairs make up a decent portion of my work load, and have done for many years. You can rest assured any repair work I do on your beloved jewellery items will be done well and with great care. Some careful maintenance here and there will ensure your precious jewels become heirlooms for the next generation to admire and connect with their past.
10.01.2022 Side view // Always important I enjoy the towering appearance of the settings in this design, though the height off the finger is actually still a very standard engagement ring height at around 6.5mm. This ring has an impactful presence from every angle, and there’s always something a bit luxurious about large panels of polished precious metals Progress pics of the handmade process up next. Then I’ll move on. Maybe ;)
09.01.2022 Very pleased to show you this streamlined stunner! This was the last big job I finished before I went on maternity leave in August. And what a ring to go out on! Handmade in 18ct White gold, and set with a very special Australian Argyle champagne diamond. This is designed to appear like a tension set band, but has some (mostly) hidden support under the setting which is more secure in my opinion. With a soft brushed finish on the naturally warm white gold, the champagne diamon...d just glows. Thank you D, for your amazing decisiveness and trust on this one :) It was a pleasure to make for you.

01.01.2022 New // Mexicali Columna Earrings. Set with 2 raspberry red Mozambique ruby baguettes, these dainty drop earrings are something a bit special! They have a touch of swing, and a bang of Mayan inspired Art Deco goodness. Handmade in 9ct yellow gold. Columna = column - an upright pillar structure used in architecture.... Available soon @arborbrunswick
01.01.2022 A bit peachy! 1.2ct Octagon cut Tanzanian Spessartite Garnet. How do you treat a gem buying addiction?? Send help. This stone looks really at home next to some rich 18ct yellow gold... ... This garnet is available for your own custom jewellery adventure. *Disclaimer* Cannot guarantee gem addiction won’t happen to you also. It’s a slippery, sparkly, slope.
