25.01.2022 Very foggy morning over the Yarra valley in Victoria

24.01.2022 Today is freezing foggy and the Blondes are eating plenty of silage traditionally at Castella it is colder than say at Yarra Glen We have the young heifers in a paddock where they are able to go into a big shed which after having a good feed they sure get in out of the cold I have seen the older cows when a very heavy storm is eminent seek out protection in the treed area with rumps facing the raw cold weather they are smart no flies on these Blondes the two young bulls are homozygous polled 13 months old you can just see the second boy but both are nice boys

12.01.2022 this is an old shot of Alice back in 1990 we had horrific fires called black Friday the bush burnt as did the grass paddocks every day we moved the herd to a safer place but they were very relaxed about the flames and fire so much so we were waiting for their whiskers to get burnt, The smoke lasted for two weeks during which time we could not see 50 meters in the paddocks the herd all survived really well but the next crop of calves were terrible it looked as though a runt bull had jumped the fence and served the girls but we think the heavy smoke for so long was the reason for the trouble ,interestingly in 2018 one of the cattle judges visited the farm and commented that Alice was still a top cow so age shall not weary them could be right.

10.01.2022 The worked out site at the Argyle diamond mine they are super sensitive about having strangers at the mine you are not even allowed to pick up rocks ln case it might be a diamond but it is worth the tour and of coarse you can buy diamonds at the shop and lunch but they didn’t have blonde cattle grazing should have that would have improved the view
