22.01.2022 I thought I'd share a very inspirational personal message sent to my daughter Geneva. I'm very proud of you Geneva for the young lady you have become and how you inspire others. P.s, Best of luck Stacie on your journey "Dear Geneva,... So as you know, I've spent a lot of time in the dojo watching you all but never have you seen me on the mat. Truth is, the very first thing I said to Sensei Shardae is, "noway will you get me on that mat." It honestly scared the hell out of me. I'm afraid of body contact and physical confrontation. I'm afraid of getting hurt. I'm afraid of looking stupid, basically I'm just afraid of most things so I don't try. The reason I'm sharing this with you is from the very start I have been hooked whenever you are on the mat, especially when your doing kata. But the moment that changed me was watching you do your black belt. You inspired me and challenged me unknowingly to step up and face my fears. Watching you spar during your black belt was hard to watch but again, something in me changed. I realised i haven't been living at all, just showing up from day to day. Never have I pushed myself outside of my comfort zone in fear I'd fail. Here I am scared of everything and there you were, in pain, tired, full of tears yet sparring for your life with such bravery. I'm so unbelievably impressed by you and even more surprised that it was an 11yr old girl from up the coast that was going to be the start of me changing my life. Thanks to your courage and determination I have decided I'm going to put on that gi and start to grade. I'm nervous and extremely scared, but believe that if you can do it then so can I.
