24.01.2022 After more time at home than some of us thought we'd never get - what's the one thing you don't think you could live without? For us, it's certainty and decent internet connection!

21.01.2022 Death, dying, mourning, grief - all of it. It can be a difficult landscape to navigate, without feeling like you're walking on eggshells. Some useful advice can be found here... https://www.elitefunerals.com.au/helpful-articles-dealing-/..

18.01.2022 Ain't no sunshine.

15.01.2022 TW: Pregnancy and infant loss . . . .... . . October is pregnancy and infant loss awareness month. Miscarriage is sometimes referred to as the Silent Sorrow, or the Silent Loss and parents grieve privately. The secrecy, and unwarranted stigma is not helpful. The bereaved parents may want to talk about their loss or may not at the time or ever. Allowing them the room to do whatever serves them, free of judgement and platitudes will be appreciated. Our instinct is to reach out, but if you're struggling with what to say, open with "I'm so sorry for your loss". It's genuine and can be left at that. If you know the name the parents had chosen for their baby, don't be afraid to use it - they won't have as many opportunities to do so and they'll appreciate your thoughtfulness. Remember anniversaries - they won't forget and they'll be touched that you didn't either. Support for grieving parents is also available here. https://griefwords.com/index.cgi www.elitefunerals.com.au

14.01.2022 Due to COVID-19, it has been decided that as of Tuesday 31 March 2020 the office will only be manned by appointment. It is important to me that while my colleagues and I work in an essential service, that we remain well enough to serve our clients in the personal way that we always have. Currently we must abide by a maximum of 10 people at a funeral service. ... Live streaming of funeral services is available to those who cannot attend and we have other creative ways that people can be included in the ceremony, even though they cannot personally attend. The social distancing rules contradict everything that funerals should be: people coming together to mourn the loss of someone they love, support you in your time of grief, take an active part in the ceremony and gather together after the ceremony for food and reminiscing. Working together, we can ensure that the ceremony still holds value and meaning for you. We will do whatever we can to encourage inclusion while abiding by the rules. At Need Funeral Arrangements Funeral arrangements can still take place in our office at 206 Canterbury Road (opp. railway station) by appointment only, please only two people to attend. Pre Need Funeral Arrangements In order to limit social interaction, pre-need enquiries will be handled via phone and email, unless a death is imminent. Urn Sales We are known for the beautiful selection of urns we provide and the ability for you to choose from our stock on the premises. We are only able to send your choice of urn via mail or courier until the health situation changes for the better.

13.01.2022 In these times, it's hard to see how you could possibly arrange a funeral without coming to a funeral home. Your family is able to tailor a farewell using the elements available to you with support from us via email or phone. These are trying times for all concerned, particularly families directly affected by the current restricti...ons. 13.01.2022 As the year that's been outstanding for all the wrong reasons draws to a close, a gentle reminder that our warehouse will have some downtime and delays with the post are expected. If you've been thinking about buying an urn or a keepsake for your loved one, please take a look at our extensive collection online. https://www.elitefunerals.com.au/product-category/urns/ Don't leave it too late!

12.01.2022 Have you ever wondered how we ensure integrity and identification? The nameplate we personally engrave stays with the coffin throughout the process, guaranteeing your loved one’s ashes come back to you safely.

09.01.2022 Today is Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day. The loss of a much loved pet is unique and felt deeply. Pets become a part of our family, and in some cases, are our only companion. They're never "just an animal". The relationship we have with them included care provided by us.... Celebrate the home you provided and the joy your pet gave in return. https://griefwords.com/index.cgi See more

08.01.2022 This event has had an impact on all of us, one way or another. It may be the opportunity to say goodbye, to exercise, to visit family and friends, or to travel. Feelings of loss, frustration and even anger are all valid reactions. Allowing ourselves to acknowledge this is a step in the right direction.

05.01.2022 We often get asked about the death certificate. When someone dies and their body is taken from their place of death and into our care, the documents that comes with them includes a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death. The information on this, along with that given to us by the family is used by the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages to create an official Death Certificate. It usually arrives within 2 weeks of the funeral taking place. We look after applying for this... as part of our service to your family. https://www.elitefunerals.com.au/elite-funeral-directors/ See more
