24.01.2022 Are You CONFUSED?? Food labels is something that I have been recently asked about, so I decided to do my own research, to help consolidate my answers to you! Food label are so confusing. So much so that even I had to look into them more myself to make sure I understood it. ... I have been in the health and fitness industry for over 5 years now, I am now studying a nutrition degree and its ONLY now that I am beginning to decipher them! So I can't imagine how everyone else feels! I have a number of posts coming up which will break EVERYTHING down. From reading food labels, to understanding the health star rating and know what the down falls are to the system. This will explain why MILO gets whopping 4 star health star rating! Stay tuned.... 22.01.2022 Let's talk HEALTH STAR RATING first . What is it? Have you seen those star ratings on packaged foods in the shops? The rating will be from 0.5 stars to 5 stars. The more stars the healthier right? I mean that's the intention. .... How is it calculated? The rating is based on positive & negative nutrients. The more negative nutrients the product contains, the MORE points deducted from the total score. . So what are the positive nutrients? Dietary Fibre Protein Calcium Vitamins Minerals And What accounts for the Negative nutrients? Saturated Fat Sodium (salt) Sugar Based on these factors, the computer spits out a total score (out of 5 stars) and BAM that’s your health star rating! Stay tuned for the downfalls of the Health Star Rating system . This will explain WHY milo gets a whopping 4 stars, when we all know it's FULL of sugar!! . Stay tuned for this one!
