14.01.2022 *** ON HOLD *** LOOKING FOR A RETIREMENT HOME Neisha | 12,5 years young | Female Located in Melbourne... Do you know what time it is? Its open your heart oclock, because we have the most darling ginger girl, Neisha, who needs a very special home. A very lucky person (or household) will be blessed to provide loving end-of-life care for Neisha, who very much deserves a life that, sadly up until now, has been cruelly robbed from her. This person will be an absolute light in Neishas life. Neisha is a 12.5 year old friendly, calm girl with a special spark that is incredibly endearing. She is just delightful, and truly deserves to live out her retirement with a lot of care and love. She was surrendered to the council in very bad condition, and shes recovered well after treatment to her fly-struck ears, as well as nose and dental treatment. She needs a bit more dental work done, which is happening next week. Neisha is doing so well now! She does have arthritis, currently being managed with pain medication and cartrophen, which has given her a new lease on life, and this is the only ongoing treatment she needs at this stage. If you want a companion who is happy to just chill, enjoy cruisy walks with plenty of sniffs, and hanging out in the sun, then Neisha would love to be your companion. She loves a snuggle, and leans into you for a hug and scratches. She is friendly with people, and while shes had limited assessments with other dogs, shes been fine with the dogs shes met so far. She doesnt love being poked and prodded at the vets, but since she started on her pain meds, shes improved. Neisha is after a calm retirement, so shes best suited to a family with older children and older, calm dog friends would be best (we will of course organise meets with your current dog). We know the perfect retirement home is out there for Neisha, and we would just about cry with happiness to see her go somewhere where, for the first time in her life, shed be loved and properly looked after. This girl has never given up on people, and we wont give up on her. Neisha needs a special home who are going to give her a wonderful retirement experience, with no cats or pocket pets, and plenty of love, which shell return in spades. MC 956000008867540 Source EE100640 Adoption Fee - TBD on application If you think you can give Neisha her perfect retirement home, please complete an application on our website https://homesforhuskies.org.au/forms/adopt/

09.01.2022 Please help if you can ...either by donating towards court costs and/or signing the petition (link in comments) Willow by nature is a docile and friendly dog who, after bonding with us and building her confidence, now looks forward to her daily visit to the local dog park to meander around with people and other dogs. Every morning and afternoon Willow along with our other dogs attend the off-lead dog oval in Princes Park, Caulfield South. Recently the Glen Eira Council ha...s taken upon themselves to trouble Willow and our family on a daily basis for the offence of having a Greyhound off-lead even at a designated off-lead dog area. This has led to two fines, to the sum of $500, for simply allowing our gentle Willow to exercise and socialise like any other dog. We are now facing court because we refuse to accept Glen Eira Councils assertion that Willow is somehow dangerous. We also believe that it is in the Councils power to declare areas where greyhounds are free to run. We feel that we have done the right thing by liberating her from the racing industry and that it is wrong to condemn her to a life at the end of a lead, rope or chain simply because she was born a greyhound. We are seeking your support to help us defeat these charges and plant a flag for greyhounds everywhere. Our legal fees are estimated to run to $5000 to defend this case. We feel that if we can be successful here, we can assist other greyhound owners to seek equality for these beautiful dogs whose only crime is that theyve been abused by the racing industry. The RSPCA has this to say: RSPCA Australia considers that any dog of any size, breed or mix of breeds may be dangerous and thus dogs should not be declared dangerous on the basis of breed or appearance. Each individual dog should be assessed based on their behaviour. RSPCA Australia does not support dog management legislation that discriminates against specific types or breeds of dogs. - RSPCA Australia And the Greyhound Equality Society: "The greyhound is well known for its gentle and loving nature. Furthermore, there is no evidence that Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) has been effective anywhere in the world." - Greyhound Equality Society We believe that no matter what breed, not every dog will behave well off-leash. Their owners are assumed to be responsible enough to decide whether its appropriate. As owners of greyhounds and various other breeds, we strongly believe that greyhounds and their owners should be given the same level of trust. New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania all allow greyhounds off-leash in designated areas. We dont understand why Victoria is so behind.
