24.01.2022 I’ve been reflecting on how well our members have been doing at classes since the COVID comeback their consistency and determination to rise to ANY challenge we throw their way is both inspiring and motivating When a small group up their game, it brings the whole facility up a notch which is a great feeling I personally have participated in more classes than I otherwise would’ve found time for had our membership group not returned from COVID without such high energ...y positive attitudes. Illustrated are 10 basics that I’ve noted our members to be doing that are levelling them up while one person isn’t necessarily doing all 10, between the group these are consistently shining through and are all things that ANYONE can be doing to lift their performance at the gym or life in general. These ‘things’ take ZERO talent, there isn’t a single person out there who cannot embrace 1 of these items this week and level up as a result. The name dumbbell is one of simplicity preceding the barbell, it is documented that people began lifting church bells to increase their strength, provide competition between the macho men and naturally to impress the pretty ladies. The ‘clapper’ which is the piece inside a bell that is flung around to make the ‘ding’ was removed for obvious reasons, and subsequently the bells made no noise, or became ‘dumb’. ... 20.01.2022 Friday Honesty Post, from the boss This week I’ve lacked motivation big time not in my gym routine, but in my business routine. I’m sharing this because we all go through weeks where we simply don’t feel like showing up and being super productive. Sure, my issue this week has been work, but let’s be real, I’m sure we’ve all experienced this with our gym or training routines too ... What’s important is not when or if it happens (it inevitably will), it’s what steps we take during these lapses in motivation that see us soaring back bigger and better than previously, ASAP. Here’s a couple of tips I’ve summoned this week I hope these help you too ENERGY motivation is an energy game. Walk in the gym and make the effort to greet everyone with a bit of spark, be energetic about it, the energetic attitude you give will come back at you. Everyone thrives in an energetic environment, take the lead to create this. Positivity in the Negative there is ALWAYS a positive in any negative situation, find it. When you’re less motivated you won’t lift as heavy as you otherwise could don’t struggle and get frustrated, change your outlook - drop the weight and work on an aspect of your program that you suck at build this up and come back more prepared to do better. Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishing them. I borrowed this quote, but it resonates! What are your goals? Maybe it’s time to review them if they don’t inspire you, perhaps you need to put some time aside and reiterate these and get your action plan in place. Setting and achieving a couple of (very) short term goals (then soaking up the reward) is a great feeling. 19.01.2022 Flogging yourself every session is going to do you more harm than it is good Flogging yourself session to session without a weekly, monthly or block structure is even worse As a professional coaching group, we’ve never understood the mindset behind flogging group fitness participants day after day, session after session there’s no method to it, nor does it follow any reputable programming methodology, but we see trainers doing it far too often. ... Even more so, we will never understand how trainers can program session to session how do you possibly provide progress, structure and a whole-body development program when the thought process is 30 60 mins in length?! The answer is you don’t. A big part of what makes us ELITE is our attention to detail and the degree of education/knowledge/experience we use to develop every program you undertake at the facility. This extends to our group fitness program sure, you can do rope slams at most gyms as @izzytaylorrr is completing in this photo, it seems straight forward enough right? But what’s the bigger picture look like? The bigger picture is what will get you results progress will come if your program is structured correctly and you’re turning up consistently for a committed period of time. This week, ask your coach to explain the purpose behind the session you’re undertaking, and seek information on where it fits into the bigger picture how much effort and knowledge is truly being put into what you’re trusting to get you results, and what you’re paying good money for. 12.01.2022 I bet you didn’t know this!? We all love kettlebell training, but where did the kettlebell come from, and how did it get it’s name? If you were to ask Gus Portokalos (the dad from my big fat Greek wedding), kettlebells were probably invented by the Greeks, however, the first concrete evidence pins the KB to the Russians where in 1704 it was published in the Russian dictionary ... The name, apparently, came from a Scottish history of filling old or leaking cast iron cooking kettles with sand, soil or lead and swinging, lifting or pulling them around. 11.01.2022 A wise man once faced a group of people who were complaining about the same issues over and over again One day, instead of listening to the complaints, he told them a joke, an everyone cracked up laughing. Then, the man repeated the joke. A few people smiled. ... Finally, the man repeated the joke a third time, but no one reacted. . . . The man smiled and said, you won’t laugh at the same joke more than once, so what are you getting from continuing to complain about the same problem? The moral of the story is that you’re not going to get anywhere if you keep complaining about the same problem but do nothing to fix it. Don’t waste your time complaining, expecting other people to continue to react to your complaints. Instead, take action to make a change. We are fortunate enough as a health and fitness business to see people commit to changing their health for the better - those who take action always get fantastic results, two of our members @glenscoco35 and @playful.lens are both recent examples of this, having found the right combination and right coaches for their particular needs, their transformations have been exceptional.
