21.01.2022 Coronavirus blog UPDATE: Remembering flying down the open countryside roads. This seems a long time ago now. We remain in lockdown for AT LEAST another 2 week...s in France. A cycle of two-week extensions seems to hold its own anticlimax each time, with freedom JUST around the corner, whilst everyone knows this will last a much longer time. News is the virus has spread to Le Blanc - a mainly elderly population, so we worry what this means for the town and surrounding areas. We really must do everything we can to limit our movements and keep those at risk safe. We are very lucky to have everything we need here at Tri-Topia HQ. On top of that we feel very fortunate to just have SPACE. Thoughts go to those in apartment blocks, small flats & in the middle of cities, who must be going through a very different situation than we are in the middle of the countryside. Thank you to everyone who has wished us well and messaged us recently, its great to hear from lots of friends and know we are all in this together Such a strange time for everyone and we really wish the best to anyone reading this. Training is going well - zwift is making things very fun, and weve been working to transform the gym so we can have everything set out permanently. Lots of weaknesses to work on, and this pause gives us more time for stretching and strength. Also so great to see so many kids at home exercising each day and making that one of their priorities! 11.01.2022 When we postponed the IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella, IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca, and IRONMAN 70.3 Barcelona triathlon from its original dates, we felt very confident... we would still be able to deliver exceptional events as planned. Unfortunately, due to reasons related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, and further conversations with the local authorities, we regret to advise that: - IRONMAN 70.3 Marbella cannot take place in 2020 and will return on April 25, 2021. - IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca cannot take place in 2020 and will return on May 8, 2021. - IRONMAN 70.3 Barcelona cannot take place in 2020 and will return on October 3, 2021. We can also confirm that the IRONMAN Barcelona triathlon originally scheduled for October 4 cannot take place in 2020 and will return on October 3, 2021. Athletes should have now received an email with further details. The swim start is 8pm BST Saturday evening (5AM Sunday AEST) and expected swim finish is Sunday 6 - 6:30am BST (Same day AEST 2PM). GPS tracker to follow her swim live will be available on her FB page The Australian already holds multiple world records including the longest ever unassisted ocean swim in the Bahamas in 2014 (124.4km) My thoughts are going out to everyone impacted by the COVID pandemic, especially those who are currently trapped in their homes experiencing domestic violence. An issue extremely close to my heart. Thanks so much to all my wonderful supporters in Australia, England and around the world, especially all the people who have crewed for me on my ENGLISH CHANNEL swims and my wonderful pilots and observers I have had over the years.
