25.01.2022 My Page might have been quiet, but I have been pretty busy. Also been to Scotland for a Clan Gathering, and managed to break my ankle and cut open my knee. Still, you can't keep a good crafter down.... which probably aided my recovery. One needs a goal and this was it! Some of my woven items will appear in this exhibition that opens tonight. More photos of the event later :).

23.01.2022 Having recently found the Obituary of my 5 times great grandfather with mention of his Linen Business in Northern Ireland, these sorts of stories are wonderful!

20.01.2022 Once again I have seen busy working on pieces and helping school students with this community project! Hoping I will get some time for my own crafting endeavours after all is installed :) If you are local or even keen on a drive, come and check it out!

19.01.2022 2 down 1 to go!...... I might even get to Spin tomorrow!

18.01.2022 Been flat out lately, so no time to share. However, here is a little linen video as my blog on my visit last year to the old Beetling mill in Northern Ireland, will be posted soon!

16.01.2022 Well it has been just on a month since this happened, and I realised I did not share to my page. Mind you the rush to get this dress done meant for so many faults... but hey the idea was to inspire and empower others to take inspiration from other Wedding Dress and create something for themselves, with fabrics and paper patterns, that are readily available. That being said we did make some adjustments to the patterns to mimic the dress more, but these adjustments were small, ...and once again to help others without pattern making skills to achieve. The hem, still irks me, but again to level the hem without letting the dress settle and the fabric to drop, was always going to be tricky, and the neck sat well on our dress makers model as did the darts, but alas without the luxury of the real girl until the last 30 mins, was very stressful. All in all, the mission was a success and with not much sleep leading up the all-nighter, and then back to back media interviews and photography, I was almost glad to get a good sleep before driving back home to Melbourne :)

12.01.2022 Attended the opening of the ‘Celebration of Saori Weaving’ on Friday night in Clunes. The exhibition showcased the work of 16 Textile Artists. So much wonderful inspiration and I was pleased to have made a sale on the first night Big thank you to Prue Simmons and Cathy Tobin for all the hard work organising and giving us this opportunity. The exhibition is on till the 18th of November.

12.01.2022 Wouldn't mind adding pedals to my loom, would certainly kill 2 birds with one stone!

11.01.2022 Been working my way through the ‘Dear Jane Quilt’. All the squares are done, and there are a few errors, but as my mum would always say, A blind man would be glad to see it. Now for the metres of sashing, then I have to start again with the triangle border blocks.

11.01.2022 One install done 2 to go!

08.01.2022 Picked up a few cones, that could possibly be 20 + years old, some from the old Yarra Falls Mill in Collingwood (now long gone), some were labelled Wangaratta Woollen Mills, that in fact bought out the mill in 1998, then under the new name of Australian Country Spinners. This knit was part of the Fibreshed project knit along. It is difficult to establish if the wool on these cones is purely local, but the age to me suggests that it would be. The age of the yarn did produce a couple of breaks but only 2.... and the wrap soften up considerably after washing too, so happy with the bargain buy.... I have also knitted a skirt and have more yarn left over.... all for a bargain price of $20!

07.01.2022 Read about this Seamstress in the local Coffee News. So interesting!

04.01.2022 Back in June Last year, I received a wonderful present from my Niece. A piece of Cotton McIntyre Tartan woven in her now home of Senegal. Now their weaving methods look back breaking, more so than leaning over my more modern looms, but they look a lot more nimble then me! So the Challenge was to make something with the narrow widths, and then to minimise the elongation of the pattern.... took me 9 months to figure it out, and the answer was so logical.... pleat it like a kilt. So I now have a back pack ready to take to the 'World Gathering of MacIntyres in Scotland later this year!

02.01.2022 So I have finally made the move from Blogging then sharing, rather than creating a long post! So please click though and see what I have been up too!
