24.01.2022 Yes I recommend them, swear by them and use them with my own kids. Often I get asked about the Groclock and if they really work. My answer is if your toddler is now able to identify the colours blue and yellow then yes they are worth a try. If you have an early riser, toddler or child who wakes overnight calling out for reassurance, or is difficult to get into bed at night, a sleep clock is worth a try. The blue light for night and yellow for morning helps kids understand when it’s time to stay quiet and when it’s time to get up (very reassuring for kiddos who get a little confused). 19.01.2022 Feeling pressure from everywhere and don’t know where to turn?! So many of my clients feel as though they have coped or are copping it from all angles right now. There is so much information out there, not to mention our families and friends offering their experiences and guidance. 06.01.2022 Ok, so you’ve had numerous Christmas parties, dinners bbqs and late nights. Great fun, but your babies are ratty and the toddler tantrums are tough. Sleep debt is tough on our littlest friends, so if your mini has missed some days sleeps or had later bedtimes, I would recommend bringing bedtime forward by 30 minutes for a few nights to catch up on a few zzzzz. Night sleep is the most beneficial and restorative sleep, so instead of letting your little one sleep all day, offer a little extra sleep in the day (30-45 mins), but concentrate more on increasing night sleep rather than longer naps. Within a few days you should be back on track with a newly rested child without missing out on the Christmas/New Years fun.

05.01.2022 Do you have one of those babies who could nap all morning, but has a quick nap at midday before becoming tired and ratty by 5pm?? For those of you with babies still having two naps (8-15 month olds), but cannot work out where you’re going wrong, this post is for you! Research tells us that this midday nap is the MOST important nap of the day, as it is the most restorative and promotes optimal growth and development. So, where are things going wrong? Here are some of the more ...common reasons 1. Too much morning sleep (very common) 2. Hunger 3. Cold 4. Bedroom too light 5. Assistance going to sleep (eg dummy falls out and needs replacing, rocked or fed to sleep etc) 6. Dietary issues or 7. Getting baby up as soon as they wake rather than encouraging baby to re settle. If you are having issues with your babies midday nap, or naps in general let me know. It’s often easily changed with patience, the right advice, guidance and time. Stay safe out there friends #geelongmumsandkids #geelongmums #sleepconsultant #parentingtips #newmum #baby #babysleepsolutions #tiredmum #sendhelp

04.01.2022 Rolling, sitting, crawling, walking. Why do babies decide nap and bedtimes are a good times to practice new skills!!?? Seriously??!! Studies have shown that when babies are learning something new, their sleep is disrupted. Simple. This maybe because they are on the cusp of a milestone or because they are wanting to practice. If you hear your baby practicing their new tricks overnight try to leave them. Going and assisting often becomes a fun game and cause other issues with re settling down the track. Unless they’ve got themselves stuck or in a dangerous position just let them be as it will pass in a week or so. I would encourage you to practice this new skill during the day as much as possible, so their little brains have more chance of switching off at night.
