21.01.2022 A little about me! Here is a pic of my whanau (family) taken at our Calliope home this Mother’s Day! I have lived 15 years (of my 46) in Gladstone / Calliope and have been blessed by the community I’m proud to be a part of .... My husband (Stu) trained in Physio with me, and we both graduated in 1995, marrying in the same year. We have worked together in NZ, the US and Canada - disbanding our (three) business partnership once we landed in Gladstone 1995 in order to support our growing family. Stu currently works for Qld Heath and has done so since 2005. In 2007, with my second child, aged 10 months I started what was to be our fourth private practice in Tank St/Gladstone as a solo practice ‘Elizabeth Orr - Physiotherapy and Acupuncture’. Soon this expanded to the Night Owl Centre, in conjunction with Calliope, then eventuating in my pride and joy in Toolooa St, Gladstone . Many of you will have witnessed the birth and raising of my three children in between the sadness of my mother’s death and struggle of raising children between two nations. However, our community has proved faithful and our brand of ‘honest healthcare’ has prevailed. Wanting to minimise stress (both in business and financial) I sold my brand name to Active Physio in 2019, meaning I moved my practice from Toolooa St to Off St, Gladstone. Nothing exceptionally changed in terms of care, except the venue and setting (and faithful staff!) - my service expanding further in terms of hours and what I can offer as my kids have grown older. It has been my privilege to ‘solve the unsolvable’ of the Gladstone region. Furthermore, my family are proud to be part of the community with all it has added to our lives. Finally, I want you to know that my ‘solving the unsolvable’ banner comes with not only a deep respect for your lives, but a 25 year post graduate level of understanding to the processes involved in your bodies.
