25.01.2022 Do you wonder how other businesses get amazing, personality-packed content on their website or manage to find time to publish daily social media posts, weekly blogs, or that fortnightly newsletter? In most cases, theyve a) got an in-house communications team or b) theyve probably hired a freelance copywriter! Its funny, copywriting is still somewhat of a secret profession. I only knew about it when I worked as one in-house for publications. Us sneaky wordsmith...s lurk in the shadows with our computers and collection of books. Were the ones ghostwriting novels, websites, reports, brochures, ads, blogs, emails, award submissions, even social media captions! (Yep, you can pay a professional writer to put these together for you). Were pretty convincing too, using our way with words to suit the tone of voice of your business! It will sound just like you, but better . If you havent hired a copywriter for your biz, heres some of the benefits: Saves you time - no more weekend working on your content for the month ahead! Will help your content be more persuasive , written with your exact target customer in mind to drive sales Content that is written for humans but also Google (Im talking about SEO) to boost your search rankings Grammar issues gone #bye You get an outsider perspective into your business. Fresh eyes, fresh ideas, and fresh content No more bland, beige copy. Youll get content that tells a story! Your story Well interview you to find out the ins and outs of your business, help you define your brand tone of voice, and broader marketing strategy We do competitor research as part of our preparation so you dont have to Im now taking copywriting bookings for December. Hit me up if you want some fresh content ahead of the new year See more

24.01.2022 HOW TO MAKE MONEY OFF INSTA Many new businesses signing up to the Gram want to rise to Insta fame , get an inbox flooding with enquiries and sales on the daily. They want to know their hard work or money is paying off, right? The thing is: Ive spoken to many businesses who are hesitant about joining Instagram or posting frequently because they dont see a return on investment (ROI). ... Ill admit, Instagram is not for everyone! But, if you do it right, serious money can be made off the platform. Its all about the long game. Like dating, youve got to put in the groundwork, dangle your value , and build your connection before putting a ring on it . Research shows it takes weeks, even months, before followers are ready to convert to a paying customer Heres some tips, you should be following to drive conversions. Sell the solution! - How does your product or service actually help people. What are the benefits rather than the features. Give people a reason to stick around. Why should they follow you? - helpful resources, entertaining memes, funny stories, exclusive offers, inspiration, friendly banter etc. Deliver valuable content on the regular. If you want to build your following - you need to post QUALITY content at least 3 times a week (ideally more) and be consistent. You also need your own profesh images. Youve got to build trust. Show your face, whos behind the brand or account? Post user generated content or collaborate with influencers to get your brand out there. Reply to every comment, and be proactive to find people in your target audience by using hashtags, locations, tagged posts, engaging with followers of accounts similar to yours etc. Create an offer, and add a deadline to create a sense of urgency. Every now and then remind customers about a service/product without being salesy. And make it easy for people to buy, with a direct link in bio, swipe up to shop (if you have over 10k followers), or an online booking system. Who here makes money off their Insta? Or has bought something because they saw it on Insta? @thestylishdetail See more

23.01.2022 Happy Wednesday everyone Today I realised it has been MONTHS since I formally introduced myself, so I thought I would put together a little get to know me post so all the new faces on here can meet the gal behind ALL the pink Im Elizabeth . I started @elizabethfabri.communications last July to help small to medium sized businesses with all their content needs after working in the Perth media scene for more than six years as a journalist, editor, copywriter, ...and online content manager. My core services include website copywriting, blogs, emails, social media management and consults, proofreading and editing, brochures, capability statements and press releases. Now the fun part: 5 things Ill be doing when Iso is over 1 Food is my life. The first thing Ill be doing is heading straight to my favourite brunch, lunch, dinner and late night snack spots and ordering EVERYTHING. 2 This Sunday I was due to go on a 7-week solo trip around the world. Im still waiting on my *partial* refund, but when the green light is given, Ill be catching flights. 3Getting my nails did - anyone else relate? 4Branding shoot : A few months ago I went back to my brunette roots, and havent had a chance to take any on-brand photos with my new hair - youll be seeing my blonde self for a little while longer. 5 Movie time! Im a lover of film so usually youll find me visiting my local cinema at least once a week. Popcorn and Mint Choc Bombs are essential . What are the things youre looking forward to when this is all over? See more

22.01.2022 WORD OF THE DAY: Nomophobia - the irrational fear of being without your mobile phone . Look how tight Im gripping it in this pic because a) Im clumsy af and always dropping it (I swear this thing has nine lives ) and b) Im glued to my mobile phone for work and my personal Insta page, and actually cant live without it. My screen time is insane. Working in social media and running my own business means Im on my phone constantly, but it often means its hard to draw... a line between personal and business. How do you guys manage to separate work from play? Do you ever leave your phone behind or (gasp) have it in another room? @jessparsons See more

22.01.2022 OH HEY It’s been two months since I posted on here. #Yikes. #Sorry But I have good reason. ... It’s been the busiest six months of my business to date and I’ve been putting my social media content on hold to focus my energy into creating content for my beautiful clients. My clients will always be my priority above everything else, but I promise I’ll be back in the new year sharing more helpful tips and ideas with you all. I thought I’d break my social media hiatus by sharing one of my new branding shots captured by the amazingly talented @defleurcreative. If you’re a Perth-based business needing some portraits or product photography, she’s your girl! PS. If you’d like to work together, I am now taking bookings for Feb and March 2021 Have a wonderful weekend

21.01.2022 LETS TALK ABOUT TONE OF VOICE Its something youll read about on every copywriter/marketers profile, a question youll get asked when you work with one, and a question Im asking you today! #sorrynotsorry The thing is though, many businesses (new and established) arent sure what their tone of voice is. They freeze, when asked, as its something they havent thought about.... Business owners, this week I challenge you to think about your tone of voice, and see if this really reflects your brand personality, and is CONSISTENT across all pages of your website, your social channels and marketing materials. Heres some things to consider: Your website copy doesnt have to be formal! As a business owner you may feel you need super profesh copy. But, its ok to be conversational. This helps build trust and a connection with your audience, and can drive conversions. Think about who is going to be reading this content. If youre selling a product to millennials youve got to speak their lingo. How do you want them to remember your business? What adjectives would you use to describe your brand? Write these down and then flesh them out. It may be even worthwhile quizzing some of your existing clients to see how theyd describe you. What are your core values? What do you stand for? How can you reflect this in your copy? Define your Dos and Donts when it comes to language, how to use your company tagline, words not to use etc. Lets kick off your tone of voice planning right now: How would you describe your brand in three emojis? 21.01.2022 I OBJECT Now that Ive caught your attention with my sneaky Legally Blonde reference , lets talk about addressing customer objections in your copy. Some may think its counterintuitive to talk about objections on your website or social content, but more often than not it can help win over those people still sitting on the fence.... Potential clients could be wondering a whole host of things: I can probably do this myself, I dont really need to pay for help This will probably cost too much/I could get this cheaper elsewhere Youre not as well-known as others How much of my time will this take up? Will this work for me? I dont want to be stuck in a contract or enter in my credit card details I dont really have the budget right now so Ill wait until later in the year Or any other concern related to the product and service youre promoting Your job is to anticipate some of the concerns people may have towards your products or services and surprise your readers by addressing them head on through clever copy and finding a way to convince them to proceed (I.e if your service is expensive, focus on the value it will bring). Focusing on the BENEFITS rather than the features, including client testimonials (social proof), real results, as well as a FAQ section are also ways to drive conversions. Think about what would be stopping customers from picking up the phone and booking you in. And spin this around and USE these things to your advantage. See more

20.01.2022 Aw I love getting client reviews ! Heres some kind words from one of my fave copywriting clients @irockmusicstudios A few months back, I created an email campaign for this Sydney music school to get people to sign up to their very first Battle of the Bands School holiday camp. I put together four EDMs, which to my delight resulted in a SELL OUT event. The thing I love most about my business is genuinely helping small business owners generate sales and build the...ir brand awareness through: Killer website copy that makes you stand out for the right reasons Social media management - quality captions, aesthetic feed, content creation, hashtag research, strategic engagement on your account to build your following of people IN your target audience Blog content that is interesting and written to drive traffic to your website using the right keywords EDMs and newsletters (I write and design these in MailChimp and schedule them all for you). 17.01.2022 Im back baby I took a break from the Gram the last few weeks to focus on creating content for my clients, while on a working holiday in beautiful Bali . It was soo nice to get away and work by the pool with a cocktail in hand, and take full advantage of the two-hour happy hour every day .... One of the things that struck me while away was all the #instaworthy walls and cute venues opening up in and around Seminyak and Canggu. For those that follow me over at my personal account @elizabethfabri, you know I love a good pink wall for photos. And Im not the only one. Where do I find all these cute spots for photo ops, you ask? Instagram. My key message here is: SHAREABLE content is . Bali has nailed it, with tourists from all corners flocking to spots they have seen on the Gram. So how can you create shareable content in your biz? If youre a restaurant/cafe/bar have a cute wall for photos, or introduce drool-worthy special-edition items to the menu that people will want to snap and share with their friends. Product and service based businesses- think about creating entertaining memes in your branding colours, competitions, inspirational quotes etc. Create a community on social media of people that are engaged and wanting to share your content with their networks too. Share educational posts that are interesting and add value. You want to get people hitting the Save button, tagging friends in the comments, or sharing onto their story. Dont forget to tag vendors/relevant parties in your stories and posts. Tagging the right people in your stories can easily lead to your content being reshared. You can tag 20 people in a post and up to 10 in a story. Have you considered a branded hashtag to encourage followers to post about your business? (I.e. you could invite followers to use the hashtag to be in it to win something). See more

16.01.2022 REEL-Y Exciting news! If you havent heard yet, Instagram has launched a BRAND-NEW feature - Insta Reels and Ive got to say, Im pretty excited about this one. Insta Reels are short multi-clip videos, with audio and effects, that you can create when you open Stories (and update your app). ... They can appear on your Stories AND feed, and if your profile is public, theyll show up in a new section on users Explore page. Now, I know what you might be thinking... How are they really all that different to Stories and Posts? Is Insta copying TikTok? Should my business start posting these now? Well you wouldnt be wrong in comparing this new feature to TikTok. There are many parallels including: With Reels, when your profile is public other people can use your audio when they post a Reel (with a credit back to you). This is why ORIGINAL content is so important! Your content can be found in the EXPLORE section, which means new eyeballs on your profile from people in your target audience! This is Instagrams way of enabling users to create fun, entertaining bite-sized SHAREABLE videos (think of TikToks ForYouPage and #fyp hashtag and how if done right your audio or visual concept could go VIRAL). Its a way of having fun and injecting some personality into your brand/opportunity for more visual storytelling. Time will tell the styles of content that will trend on Reels. What to know before posting on Reels: Instagram Reels have a 15-second limit. Where TikTok is up to 60 seconds. Youve got to make an impact quick! Generally, Reels should be more evergreen than Stories. You want them to have a shelf life of more than 24 hours, and be relevant for weeks, even months down the line. Think about the audio and the entertainment value of what youre posting. It may take more time to plan, but it will be worth it! How can you lean on trends (TikTok or Insta Reels) to promote your products, services and expertise. Dont be afraid to borrow trending audio or video ideas that will appeal to your audience. Are you excited about REELS? See more

16.01.2022 HOW DO I BUILD MY FOLLOWING? This is without a doubt the most common question business owners ask me when they find out Im a social media marketer. My answer: Followers shouldnt be chased for the sake of followers, but if you are wanting to build a GENUINE network of people (that may buy from you), its all about engagement While having a visually aesthetic feed and captions jam-packed with VALUE is a must its not enough unless your last name ends in K...ardashian or Jenner . You cant just post, wave your wand and fly on outta here . Youve got to stick around and engage with others to get the results you want. It is called social media, after all. HOW TO ENGAGE? You need to interact with your existing network (so commenting on others posts and responding to all comments and messages people make on your content, sharing stories others have tagged you in, commenting on peoples stories etc). You also need to actively go out to find NEW accounts in your target market. But how do you find your target market? Hashtags- Use hashtags tailored to your target markets interests and then go engage with the content in those hashtags. Look through the followers of businesses also in your industry (aka your competitors) and engage with their content. If they like a business in the same industry as you, you already know they might be interested in what you do. Use Geotag (location) search options- Find other accounts in your chosen area, and you guessed it, engage with those too. And my last little tip: keep it genuine. Nobody likes generic or a copy and pasted comment So, if youre struggling with your engagement, next time you post, grab a cup of coffee, or tea if thats your thing, and interact with other accounts for at least 15 minutes before and after you post Its an investment in your time, yes. But youll see an improvement. I promise See more

16.01.2022 WHAT MAKES YOU SPECIAL? Before starting any marketing for your business, you should be having a long hard think what your unique selling point (USP) is. As part of the briefing process with my clients, I send them a cute lil questionnaire to fill out . One of the questions I ask is how are they different from their competitors, whats their point of difference and secret sauce that makes them special. ... Sooo many people struggle to answer, leave it blank or reply with Im not sure. I cannot stress this enough, having a point of difference is essential when youre creating any marketing content for your biz- display advertising, website copy, social media bios, brochures etc. How are you going to stand out in a flooded market if youre the same as everyone else? You need to give people a reason WHY youre different and how you can help them in a way others cant. Exhibit A: There are 3738293672 social media managers and copywriters on Insta so I knew it was going to be a tough market to crack . For me, my point of difference is my professional background in media, content creation, and those expensive pieces of paper to my name. Im an all-rounder, digital savvy and like to see the big-picture when I create content to get people to take ACTION. Comment below what your USP is? What makes your business special? See more

14.01.2022 Is it time to change your POINT OF VIEW? For almost a decade I was used to writing in third-person point of view across academic papers, news stories, feature articles and advertorial pieces. While third person writing is correct for these mediums, it certainly ISN’T going to do you any favours in your marketing material. (Particularly the words on your website and social media).... I often see many businesses falling into the trap of referring to themselves in third person on their websites because they think it makes them sound more professional. While it does have its place in some corporate settings, for most small to medium-sized businesses it should be avoided. Copywriting is all about CONNECTION and a CONVERSATION . Your customers don’t want to read bland, stiff copy out of a textbook. They want to feel like you’re talking direct to them and get a really good feel for your brand personality. This is why FIRST and SECOND person point of view are going to be far more impactful in getting through to your customers and building a rapport. To give you a little refresher: 1 First person - The I/we/our perspective 2 Second person - Speaking to your readers directly using words like you 3 Third person - Referring to your business by its name or it/they So what should you be doing on your website? Remove all reference to your business in third person (Elizabeth Fabri Communications was founded in 2019 ) and use first-person instead we/our/I (We started our business in 2019 to ....) With that said, you shouldn’t use we or I too often and see if you can reframe and replace with second person point of view (you) so you’re making it about your readers and speaking direct to them. Think about how you can help them, what problems do they have? What would they be thinking and feeling? Over to you: what do you think is the most impactful point of view to use in your copy? 14.01.2022 HOW TO KEEP YOUR BIZ BLOOMIN DURING THE TOUGH TIMES Life as we know it is changing. Some of the things weve taken for granted - date night at our local restaurant, morning workouts at the gym, happy hour at our favourite bar - have been stripped away with no notice. Jobs have been lost, lives have been taken. Its an unprecedented time. To all the businesses unsure how to tackle this crisis: my hot little tip- communication is key during a time like this. Radio sil...ence is never the answer. Ive been a busy bee the last few weeks helping my clients compose emails and social media messaging to send out to their audience re the Virus that shall not be named . Even though it may be tempting to put your social media, blogs, EDMs, and PR strategies on ice, there hasnt been a more opportune time to ramp it up. What Ive noticed over the last few weeks is traffic online and email opens have SKYROCKETED . Heres some of my thoughts: Its important to keep your audience updated on company movements or how you and your team are going. Social media is a social space, after all. #WeAreAllInThisTogether Your priority should be to RETAIN and GROW your customer base so when this goes away, you can bounce back stronger than ever. Now is the time you want to be STANDING OUT online - so you should use this time to work on updating your website, improving your SEO, setting up your Google My Business page, working on your content strategy etc. I understand many businesses on the front end will have to cease trading, for now. But, for many theres still opportunities to help people online. Im not a fan of the word pivot, but embracing change can be a good thing! In my opinion, any content unrelated to the virus is a welcome distraction right now. Feel-good posts and storytelling, inspirational content, and entertainment should be your focus! Now is the time to be working ON your business. Sending my love to everyone My DMs are always open if you need to chat :) See more

12.01.2022 What should you have on the HOME page of your website You all know by now one of my core (and favourite) services I offer is WEBSITE COPYWRITING. Not sure what copywriting is? Its writing words (copy) with purpose to draw in your potential customers and get them to take action. Its about bringing your brand personality to life, the art of storytelling, and getting into the minds of your target audience! ... Now, its no surprise the most important page on your website is going to be the Home page. But, did you know studies have shown 55% of users visiting websites spend 15 seconds or less on a site before exiting? (according to our friends over at @hubspot) Think about it though, how many times have you gone on a website and after a quick glance thought, yeah nah.#endscene You dont want people to be doing this on your website too! Here are the things you should consider including: PROFESSIONAL IMAGES + HIGH RES LOGO SEO KEYWORDS - to actually get found on Google! HEADLINE/TAGLINE - 1 or a few over an image carousel. INTRO COPY ABOUT WHO YOU ARE- keep it short ~ 100ish words. (In fact you dont want too much text on your Home page at all. Each page will differ but a good guide is around 500 words in total). SERVICES/PRODUCTS SNAPSHOT- Show people straight up what you offer. TESTIMONIALS + AWARDS - Make sure you include the full name of the customer. Social proof is everything! CALL TO ACTIONS - to different pages on your site, how to book, email, phone, contact page, social media, meet the team, services, portfolio, etc. SUBSCRIBE TO EMAIL - Include as a pop up (after at least 1 minute guys, and within the site as well). FOCUS ON THE BENEFITS - How can people benefit from working with you (really!). Get into the mind of your customers, how are you going to make their life easier? KEEP IT SIMPLE - Use subheadings, break up your copy so its clear, and make sure the page is easy to navigate. AN OFFER - i.e free trial period, 20% off first order, e-book, a free phone consult, monthly package, etc. Over to you: What do you think is important for a website HOME page? See more

12.01.2022 Posts vs Stories A common question I get asked by businesses in our 1:1 consults is how to know what types of content to share on their feed versus stories. Heres some quick tips to follow as a general rule:... POSTS Evergreen content is key (content that doesnt have a shelf life) Photos that are visually aesthetic, high res and fit in with your feed theme. Tip: plan out your feed in advance on a scheduling app like Planoly or UNUM Inspirational quotes and memes in your branding colours and style (you want people hitting save and/or resharing on their stories) Ask yourself is your post adding value? Is it entertaining, inspirational, educational? Why would people want to stop the scroll, hit like, save or comment? Plan your feed posts and topics in advance so you have a good balance of content STORIES Want to post something to your feed but not sure it fits your aesthetic? Put it up on your Stories. Stories are where you can really show the ins and outs of your business without worrying about how something looks Stories are more in the moment. They dont need to be perfect (since they only last for 24 hours) Share BTS videos to humanise your brand. I.e Videos of YOU (I know I should really be better at this myself, I promise Ill jump on stories one day soon ) Fun posts that make use of Instagrams stickers- polls, quizzes etc to boost engagement Content you want shared by others (i.e vendors involved). You can tag up to 10 accounts in each Story and also shrink the tags so they cant be seen. Make sure theyre relevant though! Promotional posts (sprinkled here and there) with product or swipe up links to your Instagram shop, or website (if you have over 10K followers) Theyre also where you can share content you want to be housed in your profile Highlights I.e. testimonials, FAQ, your service list, new products etc. See more

11.01.2022 CLIENT LOVE I absolutely loved writing the copy for @swanhomestasmania new website (currently in development). The Homes and Design sector is one of my fave industries to work with. I first fell in love with it in 2015 when I was a feature writer across Scoop Publishings nine titles (RIP the Perth magazine industry ). ... I cant wait to share the website with you all when it goes LIVE . Who else loves all things Homes and Design? I can only imagine how hard it will be to make decisions when I build a home of my own. Im going to have TOO MANY ideas See more

11.01.2022 THE RACE THAT STOPS THE NATION IS HERE BABY Its 6am and Im officially clocking off for the day as I have a hot date with a bottle (or 2) of prosecco at my fave bar in town @henrysummerbar (pictured here). All fun aside, today has got me thinking about the power of a tagline. ... When you hear A race that stops the nation, immediately you think of Melbourne Cup. The tagline dates back to a poem written by Vivienne McCredie, which was published in 1986 and has now become synonymous with the day. The tagline is now used by many venues to promote their events. So Ill leave you with this: is it time to consider a tagline for your business? Something catchy that sticks in the minds of potential and existing customers? Also, comment below with how youre spending Melbourne Cup day? See more

11.01.2022 Youre posting some amazing content. Seriously, youve spent a small fortune on profesh images. Theres no denying your Insta is looking . But 5, 10, 20 minutes after posting. Nothing. Well, a few token likes from a small group of existing followers. You then scroll to your competitors account which is drowning in likes, comments and new followers.... How can this be? Both your feeds look the same from first appearance. What are they doing different? The three key secrets to a thriving Insta are: HASHTAGS ENGAGEMENT GEOTAGS How are people going to find you and see all your fab content if you dont let them find you. HASHTAGS You should be using 30 of these babies in every post. You can hide them in the comments. They need to be targeted so theyre reaching the RIGHT people. Mix it up each time and include hashtags you havent used before so you can potentially reach NEW people. Tip: Save some hashtag sets in the notes folder of your phone to refer to. Use 10 hashtags per story (you can hide them by making them small). Keep it more general for story ones and leave the specific hashtags for your posts. ENGAGEMENT Youve got to be social on social media every day. Even when youre not posting you should be engaging with your community and target audience. Engagement means liking and commenting on peoples posts that you follow as well as NEW people that look like your ideal customer. Find people in your target audience through hashtags, geotags (location tag) and the followers of accounts similar to yours. Reply to all comments and DMs - people have taken the time to contact you. Start a conversation and build those relationships! GEOTAGS Add a location to every post. Its so easy and can increase your reach tenfold! 10.01.2022 Want to know whats even MORE effective than social media marketing? Drum roll please.... EMAIL MARKETING Studies show emails can convert a larger percentage of people every time as theyre reaching a more engaged and invested audience. ... Now, dont get me wrong, social media can be so powerful for your business (and is something you should still be doing), but email can be more impactful in speaking DIRECT to your audience. (Ahem, using first name *merge tags*, of course). The trick here is organically building your email list with people that HAVE subscribed or given you permission to email them. Ive seen many businesses buying lists or sending unsolicited emails (which is not allowed by the way or going to work!) Its ok to start off small. You could have 50 people on your list and make more sales than someone with 5000. So how do you build your list? Sign up to an email marketing platform, like MailChimp or ConvertKit, and integrate it with your website (have a pop up prompting people to subscribe). Consider creating an opt-in freebie download people can get if they subscribe to your list. Offer subscribers a discount code on their first order when they sign up. Networking and competitions How often should you send emails? Some companies may benefit from once a week, others once a fortnight, once a month, and others occasionally. Send me a DM if you want some advice. You could also consider email automation (nurture series of emails for when people subscribe) and other email automation options like abandoned cart emails etc. Who can put together my email? As a copywriter, I can write your email content for you. Ive also had a lot of experience designing and creating email campaigns for my clients and the media publications Ive worked at so I can offer this in a complete done-for-you package. 10.01.2022 1 YEAR BABY! Wow! I can’t believe my little business has turned 1 today How quick was that!? What an absolute AMAZING year it has been. It seems like yesterday I took a massive risk and left my editor role at The Australian Mining Review/career in journalism behind.... Since then, I have LOVED getting to know many of you on and offline and working with the most incredible clients. Looking back on my work this year (I seriously need to update the portfolio section on my website ), I feel so lucky to be doing what I love and working with so many interesting businesses. A common question I get asked by people is what type of clients do I work with. My client base is really diverse spanning many industries. No day or week is the same, just like it was when I was a journalist! Here are some of the types of businesses I’ve created content for this year: Media publications PR and creative agencies Fuel tank company Graphic designers Land-based community developer Plumber Wedding photographer Psychotherapist Residential and commercial builders Private equity firms Music school Australian fashion labels Skin clinic + beauty businesses Hairdressers Pet sitter and dog walker Strata manager Oil and gas multinational Real estate agency Steel lintel manufacturer Galvanizer App developer Steel grating manufacturer Social media marketer Magic retail shop Landscapers METS companies Private and listed ASX miners Pest controller Singing/acting performance schools Teen community/podcast Thank you so much to everyone who has supported my journey and the clients that have placed their trust in me. 09.01.2022 DO YOU EVEN BATCH? Say whatttt? Batching is the best way to get things done, in my opinion! ... Bulk emails Meal prep AND... drum roll please... Your social media content Setting aside a day, half a day, heck even a couple of hours will help take your social media content to the next level. WHY? Because consistency is key on social media. Ive recently been so busy in my business that I myself havent been as consistent as Id like to be on my own page, simply because I didnt have captions ready to go for me to post. I know how HARD it is finding time for your own marketing when youre running your biz! But batching will save you time and make things easier for you. It allows you to have a balanced social feed with all the types of content you need: - Educational - Inspirational - Entertaining - Promotional And take a considered approach to your marketing rather than just chucking up something for the sake of it to be present. Remember adding value is so important on social media to build trust, start relationships, and give people a reason to stick around and eventually (hopefully) buy from you. HOW TO BATCH Download a scheduling app like Planoly or UNUM so you can start planning your visual feed for Instagram. Once youve got all your visual content planned and its looking good, open up a Word doc and start planning the topics of what youre going to talk about to match the photos. Brainstorm some ideas for weeks/months ahead- important days in the calendar you can plan some content around. Write the captions for the week/fortnight/month and then paste them into your scheduling tool. And autoschedule posts, add in the location, hashtags (as the first comment), tag whoever needs to be tagged in the post and Voila its all ready to go! Who else batches their social content? 07.01.2022 WHERE SHOULD YOU SPEND YOUR MARKETING DOLLARS IN FY21 Not long to go now and its going to be a new financial year - yeah I know, how quick was that! I blame COVID! You might be starting to think about your budgets for the year ahead and how much youre going to allocate to marketing, what has worked well so far, what hasnt worked so well, and new routes to try!... Here are the key marketing avenues you might consider: Google Ads Social media ads Organic social media marketing Print media or TV/radio advertising + sponsored content/advertorials PR campaign (press releases and media pitching) Content marketing (blogs, articles, white papers) EDMs and/or email nurture sequence Direct mail and printed materials (brochures, pamphlets etc) Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Influencer marketing via social media Branding (fresh logo, professional images, or website copy) Expos and industry events (probs on hold for a while) Online directories Sponsorships My hot little tip: the way you spend your marketing dollars will come down to: Your TARGET AUDIENCE (the channels they are using i.e Instagram vs the local newspaper) The size and nature of your business (if youre a makeup artist, Instagram would be your money maker, where a local plumber might also benefit from traditional print ads and SEO) How you can measure return on investment (ROI) - you want to know your dollars are spent wisely and that you have set KPIs to measure success. This could be including a section on your website contact form asking customers how they found you, measuring click through rates, bookings per week etc. It will also come down to gaps that need filling. You may have a killer social media page, but a website with boring copy that isnt driving conversions! Or a flashy website but no presence on Google, which means no one is finding you! 07.01.2022 A flower does not think of competing with the flower next to it, it just BLOOMS Happy New Year everyone! Im a little late to the party because Ive had my dancing shoes on this week . You know the ol saying work hard, play harder . I thought Id start the year leading with one of my favourite quotes of all time. ... It just captures what small business (and life) is about in my opinion. Its very easy to fall into the trap of comparisonitis when scrolling through your Instagram or Facebook feed, but its important to focus on your goals and plans for your own biz! 2020 is going to be a really exciting year (I can feel it). My goals for the year are simple: continue working with businesses that I connect with and believe in to help them grow their presence online via social media, website content, email marketing, blogs etc. I also plan to outsource a few things by the year end (ie. bookkeeping) so it frees up more time to focus on content creation. I hope you all have an amazing start to the year! Id love to know what your goals are for 2020! Or better yet, what your WORD is for 2020? Mine is BLOOM - its been 6 months since I planted the seeds and launched my business. Its come a long way in a short space of time - more than I could have imagined. 07.01.2022 REEL-Y Exciting news! If you haven’t heard yet, Instagram has launched a BRAND-NEW feature - Insta Reels and I’ve got to say, I’m pretty excited about this one. Insta Reels are short multi-clip videos, with audio and effects, that you can create when you open Stories (and update your app). ... They can appear on your Stories AND feed, and if your profile is public, they’ll show up in a new section on users’ Explore page. Now, I know what you might be thinking... How are they really all that different to Stories and Posts? Is Insta copying TikTok? Should my business start posting these now? Well you wouldn’t be wrong in comparing this new feature to TikTok. There are many parallels including: With Reels, when your profile is public other people can use your audio when they post a Reel (with a credit back to you). This is why ORIGINAL content is so important! Your content can be found in the EXPLORE section, which means new eyeballs on your profile from people in your target audience! This is Instagram’s way of enabling users to create fun, entertaining bite-sized SHAREABLE videos (think of TikTok’s ForYouPage and #fyp hashtag and how if done right your audio or visual concept could go VIRAL). It’s a way of having fun and injecting some personality into your brand/opportunity for more visual storytelling. Time will tell the styles of content that will trend on Reels. What to know before posting on Reels: Instagram Reels have a 15-second limit. Where TikTok is up to 60 seconds. You’ve got to make an impact quick! Generally, Reels should be more evergreen than Stories. You want them to have a shelf life of more than 24 hours, and be relevant for weeks, even months down the line. Think about the audio and the entertainment value of what you’re posting. It may take more time to plan, but it will be worth it! How can you lean on trends (TikTok or Insta Reels) to promote your products, services and expertise. Don’t be afraid to borrow trending audio or video ideas that will appeal to your audience. Are you excited about REELS? See more

06.01.2022 When was the last time you updated your WEBSITE? I created mine only a year ago and already know there are so many things that need fine-tuning, a whole portfolio of works I need to upload etc. What has held me back from updating it? Time . The thing is, your website is still the MOST important marketing platform for your business. With all this extra time many of you may have during this period, I challenge you to go onto your website and conduct a mini audit. ... Here are some things you could ask yourself: Is this capturing your business in the best light and how youre different from competitors? Is your copy addressing the pain points and questions your target audience may have? (And how can you make your audience feel at ease?) Is it actually written with your target audience in mind and speaks direct to them? Is the tone of voice consistent? Or if you havent got that far- what is your tone of voice? Is it chatty and fun, professional and formal, energetic, quirky, playful? What are some words you would use to describe your business? Is your About page interesting and uses Storytelling techniques to evoke an emotional response? Are there clear CTA (Call to Action) buttons to initiate action? What pages are getting the most traffic (have a look through your analytics)? Do you have enough written content for pages to be recognized by Google to help with your SEO. 400 words per page is a good start. Have you got Title Tags and Meta Descriptions for each web page so its using the right keywords for Google? Is there a FAQ section? Have you got recent testimonials and case studies on there? Do you have a blog/news section? And are there any articles you could be posting at this time? Evergreen content is particularly valuable! Do you have an email opt-in/gated content prompting new visitors to subscribe so you can build your email list? These are just a few little pointers to get you started. See more

04.01.2022 CALL TO ACTIONS If you’re a business owner, you will have been told at some point to include call to actions in your marketing material, on your website, in your social media bio and at the end of your captions etc. So, what are you actually supposed to say for these to get results, while not coming across like a sleazy salesman? ... Here’s how: First of all, being genuine is key! No matter what industry you’re in, you want to ensure you’re not being misleading. Keep it clear and simple. Cut unnecessary words that don’t need to be there. It’s all about getting to the point and telling people WHAT you want them to do and WHY in a clever way. Use power words such as now easy quick simple today free affordable discover start etc. How are you going to HELP people? What’s in it for them? It’s all about the BENEFITS baby! Can you bring an element of urgency to your CTA? i.e. on social media your CTA can be more timely to get people to take action now. When does the sale end? Is there limited stock left? Make people feel like they’re going to miss out if they don’t act now! Think about barriers to conversion and address these concerns head on (i.e. Don’t worry, you don’t have to enter your credit card details). Think about the point of view. Sometimes a CTA works better when it’s written from your customers’ perspective Help me with ____ I want to know more. Pose a question (problem) and then offer a solution. Last little tip: on your website, make sure your CTA is a button that is clear for readers. It doesn’t really matter where you place it, as long as it’s there and easy to find! 04.01.2022 Influencer marketing - Is this even a thing after the likes got hidden? Yes it is. And heres what you need to know if youre considering it. Influencers: love them or loathe them. Theres no denying they can be an effective marketing tool. BUT, only if collaborations are entered into correctly. Heres some things you should consider before approaching an influencer:... Think about your objectives! While it would be AMAZING to make sales through every collab, thats not always a reality. Its also about brand awareness, building a following of potential clients to nurture through your socials, obtaining user generated content to share on your feed to influence your existing network etc. Do your research before you walk into any collab or paid partnership. You should be finding the RIGHT influencers, and suss out whether their following is your target audience. You also need to do a mini stalk of their profile- how many comments are they getting, how many likes (use your computer to see this). Do they make an effort with their captions and stories? And lastly (this is a big one!) take a scroll through their followers to see if theyre real or fake . How many followers should they have for it to be effective? Did you know the larger the account is, the lower the engagement rate will generally be? This is why many brands are now ditching celebrity influencers with a high price tag, and instead working with Macro and Micro influencers with a smaller, more engaged and trusting following. Have you heard of the app Tribe? There are now platforms where you can connect with influencers who genuinely want to work with you. The idea is that theyll purchase your product, and submit content for your approval with their price per post. How are you approaching influencers? DMs dont always cut it. If you mean serious business you will be liaising with the influencer via email, sending through an agreement which stipulates what you expect from the partnership (the amount of posts and stories etc and exchange whether thats or free products/services). Have you worked with influencers? Whats your experience been like? See more

03.01.2022 People buy from PEOPLE It doesnt matter what your business is- whether its product-based or service-based, people usually want that human connection before making an investment decision. They want to know your story, what makes you special , and they want to have an emotional pull towards your brand and know youre legit.... That means you should be: Showing your face on your website and social media, with PROFESSIONAL photography. Save the bathroom selfies and iPhone shots for your personal page. Forget stale 3rd person copy, and speak DIRECT to your audience. Remove the SHE/HE/THEY and replaced with I/WE/OUR/YOU. Have an About page on your website that tells the reader more than what you do, your education, skills, and when you founded your business. Let it tell a story and give a real positive insight into who you are and WHY you do what you do, what you love and any other fun quirks or interests. Humanise your brand through engaging social media content - BTS Insta stories, videos of you , sharing your story, fun facts, two truths and a lie. Dont be afraid to also share your vulnerable side (to some extent) too. Were all human after all, arent we? Sprinkle your brand personality into all the places you might forget about: Error 404 page, Contact page, emails, order confirmations, even in all your correspondence with clients/customers. Make sure your tone of voice is consistent across all your marketing channels. It needs to be cohesive. Deliver value to your audience . Being nice and sharing your wisdom with your audience is a proven way of generating sales. Try to show up on your social media as often as you can. Most people need time to make a purchasing decision. This is why social media is such a great way to build relationships, and show who you and your brand are consistently . What do you think? Is human connection important for when you buy something or hire someone? See more

02.01.2022 DOS AND DONTS FOR YOUR INSTAGRAM BIO Your Instagram bio is an important piece of real estate . It should tell new people what you do, how you can help them, and contain a clear call to action. Problem is, theres only 160 characters to do all of this . And as you already know, youll use this up pretty quickly!... Heres the dos and donts for your bio to get more people hitting the follow button or sliding into your DMs ! DOS If you havent already done so, switch to a Business profile so you can give your Instagram account a category (the grey text underneath your account title). Did you know your Instagram name (not your username/handle) is searchable? Instead of putting your business name here, use your profession or key service. This way more people can find you as youll show up in search results. Fill out all your profile fields - Website, Location, Email and Phone so you dont have to include this in your bio text. Use emojis to make your profile standout or to break up the text. List your key services. Include how you can help people and who your target audience is. Include your opening hours and days. AfterPay available? Worldwide shipping? Pop those bits in there too as they can convert buyers on the fence! If you want to use more than one link, consider LinkTree (its free) or building a page on your website with links. Consider including a branded hashtag to invite followers to use. DONTS Dont write your bio without your target audience in mind. Keep copy nice and punchy using short sentences. Dont include a blurry or unprofessional profile pic (aka selfie). Make sure it is on brand. Dont be like everyone else or copy someone elses bio. Be ORIGINAL and let your brand personality shine through in your copy. Dont forget about spacing and line breaks. Dont publish your bio without proofreading it first! See more
