18.01.2022 .....Today was one of those amazing days where you just can’t quite put into words what we all felt and experienced. Our amazing Aboriginal Community and Development Officer, Naomi, created an event for the City of Playford staff to attend The Rise. We were able to celebrate, learn and immerse ourselves in the traditions and culture of the Aboriginal peoples and it was truly memorable Naomi and volunteer Jazmine created some displays that sh...owcased traditions, factual accounts of the atrocities Aboriginal people have faced over time, whilst also celebrating the many achievements of Aboriginal people through history. We were treated to a moving performance and Welcome to Country with Isaac Hannam from Kuma Kaaru, followed by a delicious lunch catered by Tauondi Aboriginal College. The menu included kangaroo burgers and wild boar sausages, fresh damper, lemon myrtle biscuits and wattle seed scones. We all contributed our handprints to create a piece of artwork that will proudly hang up at The Rise too. We would like to thank everyone who attended including our community members as part of our Sharing Culture Through Art group. It truely was a special event
