12.01.2022 Unlike the cloth nappies which most of us would have grown up wearing, Modern Cloth Nappies have a far more contemporary design. No weird origami folding (which I'm actually useless at), no pins and absolutely no soaking in bleach. Ella & Maeve's nappies are a one size fits most design (OSFM - you'll see that acronym around a lot!) and comprise a beautifully patterned outer shell and several inserts which lay against baby's skin for absorption. The outer shell also contains a... series of snaps across the waist and crotch to accommodate bub as they grow and their shape changes. 12.01.2022 Boosters & Inserts The world of MCN may seem mightily overwhelming when you first start - I know it certainly did for me! But, don't worry, I'm here to help you out and I promise that it's actually so much easier than you think! My Ella & Maeve nappies which are made right here in Perth, Western Australia all come with two inserts. The main insert is a long snake shape which is made of two layers of super thirsty bamboo and organic cotton fleece, topped with a layer of cudd...ly soft microfleece. The main insert can be folded and placed in the wet zone to maximise absorption. The second insert is a smaller booster made from the same super thirsty bamboo and organic cotton fleece, and is designed to add in extra absorption without unnecessary bulk. 07.01.2022 CLOTH FACT: It takes 300-500 years for a single disposable cloth nappy to decompose in landfill, and some parts may never completely breakdown! It's terrifying to think that almost every single disposable nappy ever used is still in landfill today, which isn't a legacy that I want to leave for my daughter and the generations that will follow her. Here at Ella & Maeve HQ, I'm always conscious of my impact on the environment. We've introduced a worm farm, compost bins and solar... panels to help reduce our carbon footprint.
