24.01.2022 When you have mares like this in your breeding program... Horizonte De Jeu (imp) prok,ster,sp(dr) (Glock’s Voice x Don Romantic x Contango x Rubinstein). We bought Horizonte as a very unimpressive 10 month old, taking the leap of faith on her breeding, and she has been trained by Charlie since arriving in Australia as a 4yo. Pre-lockdown, competing and winning at PSG/CDI-Y. Now only just turned 8yo and iso training towards the big tour. She and Charlie Welsh have just been named on the Victorian High Performance Squad. And she is the most phenomenally fertile breeding mare - having had 5 ET foals already (by Dante Weltino (sold), Ferro, Fidertanz, For Romance I (sold), and D’Avie), with another 2 very exciting twin flush ET’s due shortly by Dante Quando OLD

We are a warmblood dressage horse breeding and training stud located in Macedon, Victoria. We have mares and foals, young stock and currently 14 horses in training from 3yo breakers to high level competition horses. All of our breeding and foaling down work is done on site, as is our breaking in wo...rk, so it’s a busy place. Our horses are provided with the highest level of care, and our ridden team are treated as the high level athletes they are. We are looking for a person who: Is physically fit, reliable, has a strong work ethic, is not scared of horses, able to follow directions, capable of getting the job done, understands that working with horses is hard work but loves it anyway; Is competent and confident in handling large competition horses, young horses including colts, mares and foals, and stallions; Is interested in learning the health management of our high level athletes and breeding stock, including basic first aid, administration of medications as required, ice booting ridden horses, etc, etc; The role: the job involves all aspects of the day to day care of the horses, both the breeding and riding horses, so feeding, turning horses out, cleaning stables, tacking and untacking the riding horses, assisting vets, farriers, etc. We have a fantastic team here at Ellanbrae and are looking for an additional person with good communication skills, attention to detail, a happy disposition and a genuine love of horses Hours are a 37.5 hour/5 day week on a fortnightly rotating roster, and our wages and work conditions comply with workplace laws. 08.01.2022 Breeding it’s all in the mares. Opportunity for the 2020 breeding season We here in Australia seem to seriously undervalue the damline when looking at horses. But in Europe, it is well recognised that a horse from a good sport producing or licenced stallion producing damline is a good bet when looking at youngstock. The damline does not refer to who was the damsire, or the dam’s damsire, but to the actual mares who have proven themselves to consistently produce quality ...offspring for sport and/or breeding. Predicated mares, horses who have competed to high levels, licenced stallions coming from the damlines. Here in Australia we all look for famous stallions in the pedigree, and yes, having a pedigree rich in stallions who have competed to Grand Prix is a good indication of offspring who may well in the right hands also make it. But we have historically missed that which the Europeans take for granted - that it is of fundamental importance in breeding to have horses descending from mares who have proven their value to the gene pool. Ellanbrae Park is privileged to have some incredible mares from some of the top producing damlines in Europe as the foundation of our breeding program. For the 2020 breeding season, we are pleased to offer the opportunity to breed your own foal from any of our currently available special mares (the sport mares via embryo transfer). 02.01.2022 Special in every way... our once in a lifetime stallion Dante Quando OLD (Dante Weltino x Fidertanz x De Niro x Akzent II). Another we bought as a foal at the Borculo foal auction, basically because we loved the mare and the breeder wouldn’t part with her! He was a German bred foal in a Dutch foal auction, so the Dutch were not terribly interested in him...being Aussies on tour, we couldn’t care less where he was from, we loved him and he has turned out to be the best impulse... purchase ever! Only just turned 6yo, but from 1 August he’s officially 7 here, so has been training on during iso for the 7yo work in the hope that competitions will resume some time! Lightly but very successfully competed (she’s not a horse that needs competition mileage), she was 5th at DWTS in the 4yo class when she was not yet 4, and her latest competition winning both elementary tests with over 71% scores.
