25.01.2022 Day 1 of a little colour science project because it’s all about rainbows at the moment We started with a few drops of food colouring of the 3 primary colours in every second glass of water. The alternate glasses are just water. We then folded up some paper towel and clipped the end together with a paper clip. We watched and talked about what might happen. So much learning to be had.....

25.01.2022 I spent my morning making some immune boosting, gut healing jellies as well as an immune boosting juice. I make these jellies often for school lunches, they freeze well too. The juice (link in comments), I haven’t made before but figure it’s just like the jellies but liquid (oh and garlic added ,I’ll water it down so it’s not sospicy for the girls. I don’t follow the recipe for the jellies completely so if you want to know what I do just ask ... I did these solo this morning because I wanted to smash them out while bubs was asleep and I know my kids will eat/drink it, but if you don’t think yours will but want to give them a try, get them involved, squeeze the lemons and oranges, or they can pour into moulds. (I cheated today and used a good quality orange juice but squeezed my lemons.) See more

24.01.2022 Put a healthier spin on Anzac Day goodies. The cookies are so good. Still sweet and you can make them crunchy or chewy depending on how you like them. Oh and they freeze well. We might try the brownie today

24.01.2022 2 hours later The colour has started to run

20.01.2022 We were so lucky and happy to get away camping last week. We all needed a break. It was cold and raining but we didn’t care. I always take a few things to do camping just incase we get rained in but mostly it’s about letting kids use their imaginations and run wild. School will be here again before we know it and routine will take over once again. It’s just so important to let kids be kids.... What does your family do to ensure your kids are being kids? No rules, no pressure, just freedom to be themselves. It might be Outside play wherever possible, walks along the river with sticks in hand, collecting anything and everything on a daily walk (my pram is always full of collections), letting their imaginations run wild with playdough, mud and water play, arts and crafts, story telling or song and dance! I want my children to hold onto those precious imaginations as long as possible. One day it’ll just disappear with the years. Feed it while you can. See more

20.01.2022 Snacks made for remote learning round 2 day one. One less thing to worry about. Good luck to everyone embarking on this adventure again.

17.01.2022 My girls have always believed in and loved fairies I don’t know when it started, probably when Aurora first watched Tinkerbelle I guess. We have had many fairy gardens in our our house and even one outside. The fairies often visit and the excitement ramps up when ever a tooth becomes loose. Over the years we have tried many ways to display the fairy gardens and the latest was on a shelf. This is no longer working as Jaeger is always getting into it. So the fairies and I ...worked together to come up with a solution( for the time being anyway). Under bed roller storage boxes. I’ve had these for a while, one was used for a fairy garden once and it worked well so well give it another go, theyll just have one each this time. this works. allowing children to expand their imagination and creativity builds a sense of wonder and excitement in children that is priceless stay tuned for the final masterpieces

16.01.2022 New playdough packs now available! I’ve done the messy part so you don’t have too! Don’t worry the dye won’t come off on your little ones hands.

16.01.2022 Remote learning, it’s here. This is a great clip from a primary school teacher from Sale. Do yourself a favour and have a watch and relieve yourself of some anxiety you may have about remote learning. We didn’t choose this situation but we need to work with what we’ve got.... We’re all in this together so reach out to your children’s schools and teachers. They have done an amazing job at getting this up and running for our children. I can’t thank the teachers enough. It was already a tough job and now they’ve had to develop a new game plan. Be kind to them and show them the respect they deserve. Talk to your other parent friends, start up a social media group where you can bounce ideas off and help each other. Remember that all children are different. We are all different, both individually and as family units. Do what works for you. Don’t worry about how, what or why others are doing what they are doing. Do what works for you and your children. You know them best. Most importantly be kind to yourself. Your children are your children. You are their parent/guardian/carer. You are not their teacher. We don’t know how long this will go on for but it won’t be forever and I don’t believe that this time will take away the chance of your child per suing their career aspirations. Take a break if you need. There’s always tomorrow. This is remote learning, not homeschooling. I’m sure many of you will realise how much learning your child is already doing just being home with you. And please remember to let the children be children. This is new for them too. So bake that cake and cookies, make the playdough and slime, watch their favourite movie with them (even if for the 89th time), build the cubby house, have a sleep over in the lounge room or camp in the backyard, do painting and pasting and display the creations they are so proud of. Think of all that learning right there We need to see this as a special time we will never get again. All those silver linings........

14.01.2022 Day 3 I’m a little disappointed but the kids are still fascinated. (I’m pretty sure hubby moved the glasses so the process may have been disrupted ) The blue seems to be moving along Anyway, while there’s still interest, I just added a few more drops of colouring and we’ll see what happens

14.01.2022 Who’s kids would love this?

13.01.2022 Rainy day = playdough day Playdough packs still available $20 each or 2 for $30 for the rest of October! Playdough is made fresh to order.

12.01.2022 Sorry for delay but here is the ANZAC brownie I made on ANZAC day. I was quite impressed. Kids and hubby loved it too I used peanut butter as the nut butter because that’s what I had and 70% cocoa dark choc for a bit of choc on the top.

10.01.2022 My little man, 14 months enjoying all the sensory aspects of playdough. Squishing and pulling to help his fine motor skills, feeling with his hands and fingers to increase his awareness of touch. Simple activity, many rewards. He wasn’t interested in the animals I’d place on the tray, and I’m absolutely ok with that, plenty of time to introduce other objects as his interests develop.

10.01.2022 Afternoon crafts, drying in the sun https://kinderart.com/art-less/seasons/poppies-egg-cartons/

08.01.2022 Ella’s for a Play - Playdough..... While things are still a little crazy in the world, Ella’s for a play will not be taking children just yet. In the meantime, I’ve created these playdough packs to add to your child’s playtime. ... The packs will include 1kg of homemade, non toxic playdough and various props to spark imagination and wonder in any child. Playdough is also great for sensory exploration and building fine motor skills. Older children can also benefit from playing with playdough as a calming down aid, especially after a day at school or when a bit of alone time may be needed. Playdough is also a great rainy day activity for any age group. Packs are $20 each and local delivery or pick up can be arranged. Pm me to order or if you’d like more information. Currently available: Bees, ladybugs and butterflies x 5 Unicorns x3 Dinosaurs x 4 Frogs, snakes, and crocodiles x3 I suggest these packs to be used by children over the age of three and under supervision for younger children as small parts are included. If anyone has an interest for younger children I’d be happy to make up some age appropriate packs for younger children.

07.01.2022 Here’s one way to start getting creative, some fresh air and help lift family and community spirits all in one activity. Have you heard about the rainbow trail or the bear hunt going on in neighbourhoods around the country and globe? Let’s get Traf involved!... The idea is that you and your children place a teddy bear or a rainbow in your front window so that when families are out for a walk in these times they have something to look at and get talking about. You can draw, paint, collage or even make a rainbow out of lego. The kids could decorate the driveway with chalk or front fence with creations. It’s all about uplifting the community and spreading some happy vibes and positivity. So, Along with Mickey Jenkins we have set up a dedicated group Trafalgar Happiness Trail. Post a pic of your families creations. Feel free to post a picture of your finds along the way however please keep in mind the following: - this group is public while we gain some members - if you wish to participate, a photo of your property maybe uploaded to this group - Add streets but not house numbers unless it’s your own house and you are comfortable with that - The same applies for posting pictures of children, if they are yours and your are happy to then great, but please don’t post pictures of other people’s children unless you have permission - Remember to practice the social distancing requirements when out and about. You can follow the Australian rainbow trail page also and post pictures of your own house and/or children as your desire. https://www.facebook.com/groups/541777599809695/?ref=share

04.01.2022 Foam The recipe I used called for 1tsp Dishwashing liquid 1tbs water Few drops of food dye... And mix with an electric beater I used a lot more as I wanted to make enough to fill the little trough. Just keep adding soap and water and beat till the foam is created. It makes a lovely soft foam and holds pretty well. The girls played with this adding in cups and saucers and play kitchen utensils. Then did some drawings in the foam on a table top until the foam flattened right out. Good 30mins of entertainment I’d love to see your pictures if you give this a go See more

03.01.2022 Today there was paint...... Painting with brushes Painting with cotton tips Crayon drawing and painting Finger painting as well ... Even a little nose got into it It was all on the table this morning and some masterpieces created as always See more
