20.01.2022 My most used word at the moment is Whilst! So, whilst I am desperately waiting to book bridal gown alterations in a face-to-face situation I haven't been able to stop thinking about unique ways to work on wedding gowns which need alterations and are going to be worn very soon. In line with current restrictions we aren't able to do regular wedding dress fittings (that's not what a bride needs to hear) so I've been chatting via video hook ups, lots of photos and emails, trying... to either do preliminary work or the entire alterations. The first dress in the pictures is a little tight across the back and may potentially have a corset back added to it. What we are able to do is alter the dress to a point...the bride takes the dress home, we do a video chat...takes photos...then it comes back again for the next steps. Not everyone is in this situation but its nice to know we can still do our bit to make their wedding day just right. Another dress has is too big in the bust so its getting some cups and extra boining added to it and after the bust fits better we can check the length which needed adjusting as well. Who doesn't love a challenge, I love what I do cherish the fact that and so many beautiful brides allow me to a part of such a special life event.

16.01.2022 Isn't it frustrating when you have something in the wardrobe which doesn't fit at the moment? Well here are a couple of simple ways to add some new life to garments which may be a little tight in the waist or hip. The trousers couldn't be let-out in the waist anymore so i just added a opening into the waistband. Two fold the v can be rejoined if need be down the way and a belt can cover it as well.... The skirt is so lovely and light but just not right around the waist and hip. Solution, I added a plain navy panel which matches with the skirt print and it had shirring elastic for comfort and fit. These types of alterations achieve alot in terms of extending life and really arent expensive to carry out either.

16.01.2022 A few weeks back I posted a picture of these pants. While we were in lockdown I tried to make good of downtime and made a few new pieces for the shop. Quite happily I tested the pants in the picture and they were divine. The fabric is silk and has a slight stretch which makes them very comfortable and it’s still very sturdy. Just last week I thought it was a good idea to ride my bike to the station in transit to work....opps fell off. Thankfully no holes in the knee of my pa...nts. The riding thing might be on hold for the moment! The blue silk pants have all sold and now I am going to add the same fabric in these prints. My idea is again just to have a few pieces so it keeps them unique. If you’re interested please be in touch to have them in your size. I’ve purchased some beautiful printed silks as well for a few very simple extended shoulder tops, again easy designs in beautiful fabrics. I’ll post those in the next few days.

10.01.2022 So Harry reckons he’s helping? I don’t always make the time to sew for myself, now I know the reason why.

07.01.2022 It's so nice to be back!

07.01.2022 I’m looking for the term for a collection of pretty dresses? Anyway these are just a few ready to go back to their owners. We have nipped waists, trimmed sleeves, added new shirring around the neckline and the ever popular skirt shortening.... So many new season dresses are long maxi’s with lots of volume in and tiers in the skirt. We are finding it’s best to shorten through these evenly through the tiers so the proportions of the original dress are maintained.

07.01.2022 Here are just a few hem finishes that we are able to do.

06.01.2022 Its so nice to back at the sewing machine working on so many different projects. It’s not to early to start planning for #nye in my opinion !

04.01.2022 In order to prepare for the upcoming sales I did some early bargain hunting on the weekend. This little number was a keeper reduced from $88 to $7.50. Yes, that’s 100% true and I found it @myer I’m going to stitch thru the front button panel so that it’s not so inclined to open when walking and it needs a hook n eye at the top button as well. Certainly no deal breaker there and all up alterations would probably cost $25.

04.01.2022 Yay, 11.59pm tomorrow nite can’t come soon enough!Yay, 11.59pm tomorrow nite can’t come soon enough!
