25.01.2022 Mulberry season has started and these 2 are very happy.

23.01.2022 Fathers day drawing of farm very nice Liam

21.01.2022 Peter reunited with the flock but very much loves a pat and human contact. Great with the kids.

21.01.2022 Beetroot matches nicely with chocolate in muffins, cake or brownies. Great way to sneak in extra veggies.

20.01.2022 Might not look like much but it is the beginning of a chicken tractor

20.01.2022 Experimenting with our new toy. Looking to try some different flavours using veggies from our garden. The official taste testers loved the smooth creamy mango icecream and blueberry sorbet.

18.01.2022 New lamb that Greg assisted with the delivery. First time mum didn't let it feed. Friends in Newcastle have adopted him to bottle feed.

18.01.2022 Yesterday I harvested all the tomatoes that were ripe and not affected by fruit fly. I made up a big batch of tomato sauce.

17.01.2022 Rainbow assortment for the start of carrot harvest

17.01.2022 Checking for eggs is a favourite pastime of little ones. The excitement of actually finding one is always the best.

15.01.2022 Week old baby chicks to go in chicken tractor which I should have finished pretty soon

15.01.2022 Another lamb to add to the flock. Mum originally walked away from the baby but penning them in together seems to have helped with bonding. I think that's where I went wrong with last orphan lamb. Will see how it goes.

13.01.2022 Peter has been reunited with the flock. He has had a little bit of adjusting as he is used to human contact all the time having been raised in a friend's backyard in Newcastle. Fingers crossed he settles down, each day he is little better.

13.01.2022 Our youngest enjoying bed before planting and farm gate honesty store almost completed. Have also been in talks with a reasonably sized distributor to maybe create a co-op with other local growers for Newcastle supply.

11.01.2022 Chippy friend of the farm came bearing gifts of recycled timber and sheeting for construction of seedling house.

10.01.2022 Another tough day in Coomba just taking a break from the farm

10.01.2022 Lovely sunshine and calm lake after last weekend being very windy

09.01.2022 More tomatoes. 1. oven roasted cherry tomatoes have been nice with risotto or on toast with spinach pesto and fetta 2. Basic tomato sauce which I have frozen in cubes to use for pizza sauce or anything needing tomato paste

08.01.2022 We have plenty of carrots at the moment so whipped up some carrot cupcakes with cream cheese frosting

08.01.2022 Finally some sun

06.01.2022 Spring onion has been more hit than miss this year not sure if its worth farming, although I do like them.

06.01.2022 Nice living somewhere were deer aren't afraid to wander. Although not great if you want to grow something. If they can't eat it they'll push it over

06.01.2022 What are we harvesting right now?

06.01.2022 Side note take tops off Carrot's as soon as you harvest makes for nice photo but Carrot's will put all its energy into trying to seed effecting its shelf life and its taste

06.01.2022 One thing I learnt from other farmers was that, in trying to build a farm it is best to keep debt as low as possible as to why I returned to the mines over last couple of years to pay for infrastructure. Has been hard travelling from home to Boggabri but i can't complain to much as the company I'm with is the best I've ever worked for. Really look after its people and have done nothing but bend over backwards for us.

05.01.2022 Finally made start on compost bins better late then never I guess. Have found I'm having to do everything twice to get things right. Hopefully I got it right first this time as it might be a little hard to move. Carrot's are coming in nicely although a little slow this year

05.01.2022 Couple of local visitors enjoying the morning grass. The other picture is our own family open air cinema with the kids watching it rugged up on the trampoline.

04.01.2022 Yesterday's hail storm

04.01.2022 Always looks great when a red sunset turns the lake pink

02.01.2022 Patch is growing up fast
