25.01.2022 Monday mornings are my favourite! It’s the time I use to work on my business (not in my business) - think invoicing, workflow systems, my own social media planning etc! I’d be lying if I said I was at the ‘non-negotiable’ stage. I still answer the odd email and get carried away when an idea for a client pops into my head...BUT by the end of 2019, I’ll be there! 23.01.2022 Flashback to Saturday night at the Heritage Bank Business Excellence Awards hosted by the Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce I was there with my beautiful Curve-Ball family who were finalists for the Events & Events Management category. They didn’t walk away with the win but I was so so proud of them for being recognised as finalists I was also incredibly proud of two of my other amazing clients who won awards for their excellence in business! ... Seeing my clients being celebrated for their success is something else! Still can’t wipe the smile off this gals face! p.s. how beautiful is my bestie?

22.01.2022 Working with clients in the capacity that we do, we notice the lack of high res logos that are on hand Guys, we get it, you’ve made it this far without needing to dig deeper than a JPEG version of your logo for a Facebook cover photo and those Canva tiles BUT, when it comes to things like signage, websites and print products, we absolutely NEED you to go digging We feel like the biggest pain in the bum when we turn around (sometimes multiple time...s) and tell you that file isn’t good enough, SO, we highly recommend a little in-house logo audit! It will make you feel SO organised and will make sharing your branding for marketing activities, and things like sponsorship, a breeze! Start yourself a branding Dropbox folder and gather all of your files in there, and if you notice you don’t have the file type you need, get back in touch with the designer who created your branding If you need some help working out where to start, slide into our DMs and we promise we’ll leave out the industry specific jargon! 14.01.2022 When I think of the way I feel when my book keeper drops her monthly reports into my inbox, the above illustration is a pretty close representation I took the advice of a number of business owners that I follow on the ‘gram when it comes to the number crunching side of small business owner land and got myself a book keeper just a few months into my ELM days! Did I feel sick thinking of outsourcing in those early days when I was technically capable of ...doing it myself? Yes! Would I have invested so early in hindsight? HELL YES! I find numbers damn boring and managing my accounts was not only draining but time consuming, so now the lovely Marlaina from @fuelbusinessconsulting jumps in once a month and matches all of my expenses and gives me a very thorough run-through of how I’m tracking At the end of last year we worked on a 2019 budget and it means I now have a clear view of what my year will look like which allowed me to set goals and even hire my first team member! 07.01.2022 It’s so easy to find yourself caught up in what others are (or aren’t) doing, especially in small business land! But one of the best pieces of advice I could ever give you is STOP! STOP scrolling through your competitor’s profile in the wee hours of the morning, STOP worrying over how well the new product on your competitor’s shelf is selling and STOP trying to craft a similar Instagram feed to said competitor (because UNLESS it’s genuinely in line with your brand..., it’s going to look forced) I see this all the time from small business owners who are agonising over what their competition is doing, and it breaks my heart! Yes, it’s important to keep a finger on the pulse and be aware, but, stay in your own lane because the thing is, when you ‘copy’ someone you are always a step behind them and I don’t think that’s where you want to be.
