Sitting somewhere a little lighter than a Chardonnay this little orange number is the perfect white wine if you usually only go for a red Then for the weekend we are about to start pouring Starry starry night, a wonderfully funky red that is in my top few wines so far this year Both amazing wines from the amazing crew at @smallfrywines and only have a few of each. Once they are gone they are gone... Both are available for a taste while we have them for the weekend

15.01.2022 This crazy bunch is what allows us to do what we do week in week out and after a monster few months we need a sleep in So no lunch this Sunday We are going to take an hour or 2 extra to sleep in, get some breakfast at our favourite spots and just recharge the batteries. All the things that being back in the kitchen at 9am after a midnight finish the night before don’t allow us to do... 14.01.2022 These delicious snow peas were picked Friday and hand delivered to us by the same hands that planted them, tended to them and then picked them on Saturday morning This is what it is about for us. Authentic where it matters. Local where it counts. Big push for us over the next few months to shorten the distance between what you are enjoying here in the restaurant and where it comes from and the number of hands it goes through While some things we will never bend on importing s...traight from Mexico, like all our dried chillies. When it comes to our fresh produce our aim is within 3 hours of our door, direct from the grower wherever possible. It makes all the difference in our food and more importantly to the wonderful families that grow it for us These beauties will be on 2 menu items this week. Our Blistered Mixed Greens with Almond and habanero salsa and on top of an old favourite that is making a comeback, our chorizo taco Open from 5pm Wednesday to Sunday with spots filling faster than normal this week. 13.01.2022 We made it... Opening Weekend! Thank you with all that we have What a crazy journey. We feel like the opening night had been coming for months and in reality it had. The journey to get here was so different to what we planned but to be honest we wouldnt change it even if we could It has taught us the valuable lesson of persistence. It made us pivot and rethink. It gave us the opportunity to renovate everything ourselves. It made us believe in our dream even stronger to show ...people how great eating plants can be and in turn it made us stronger people for it We love our team even harder, appreciate them even more and will never take for granted what we have built and what it took to get here On Friday night 10 years ago we went on our first date to a Mexican taqueria here in Brisbane for tacos. 10 years later, to the day we swung open the doors to our own Mexican bar and restaurant We cant believe it and pinch ourselves every.single.day Thank you to everyone who brought tickets to the opening nights. To everyone who has cheered us on and supported us. To everyone who had El Planta At Home and to everyone who came and ate with us in our partially renovated new home Most of all to our families and friends who we relied on more than ever. For putting up with our during construction design changes. For interpreting our really crappy drawings and for late nights and early mornings helping out. 13.01.2022 New cocktail on the menu for the weekend. The Al Pastor We are huge fans of savoury cocktails here and always pushing to pair the bar menu to the food and the flavours of an al pastor have intrigued us for awhile now We have spent some time over the past couple of weeks perfecting this one and we reckon we have nailed it... Pasila infused @cascahuin blanco, grilled pineapple, lime, and an achiote syrup. Pretty damn close to the taco and just plain delicious. Almost a Bloody Mary element to it On the menu all weekend
10.01.2022 We had every intention of posting this one a while back but this has been the fastest wine to disappear we have ever had We were super lucky enough to be the only spot in QLD you could get your hands on the amazing first ever release from Sam at @onesunbooze He has taken grapes grown by his parents on the Mornington peninsula and applied what he has been learning working with the crew at Gentle Folk and wow... The 2 wines we got literally blew us away. This guy is destined for some pretty amazing things and they were easily in the top few wines we have drunk all year, and we all know how many Adrienne has tested this year We literally have 2 of these left. This is the gigolo juice. An amazing macerated sauv Blanc that has restored our faith in sauv blanc Don’t miss out. I promise you will regret it!

Dinner at our place The food we would make our friends, the music we play while we are cooking, the loud laughs that often have our neighbours knocking and the wines we pour ourselves while eating and cleaning down This is why our wine list doesnt follow any particular rules or set types of wines. It is just what we are loving drinking right now. So while we might not have the... type of wine you are used to we can guarantee the ones on the list are there for a reason. They are friggin delicious All from small producers doing some crazy things without too much fiddling and treating the land the way they should so it is here for the long term So have a chat to us next time you are in and dont be afraid to try something new.
