Just to let you all know that I'll be temporarily shutting down face-to-face drum lessons at the moment due to the Covid-19 crisis and following today's NSW non-essential services shut down announcement. However in the coming weeks I'll be setting up Skype drum lessons via a webcam next term if anyone is interested in lessons via web cam. Please let me know if you'd be interested in skype lessons as this would be a great way to keep lessons afloat during this period. 02.01.2022 Laying down a solid beat on the drums with passion and feel is something that is often completely overlooked by a lot of drummers from all walks of life and skill levels in my experience. It's usually the fancy fills that we're drawn to ( and I went through a phase of this starting out as I'm sure a lot of us are guilty of). You can be doing the trickiest mind bending flamadimdam rolls with constant flailing arms but without that solid beat with feel to back it up..it's music...ally soulless and in my opinion pointless really. A drum beat played with feel and passion has your stamp on it, it brings emotion to the music it's accompanying and to the audience who hear it. Whether it's played at a fast or slow tempo, loud or soft, the expression has a life of it's own, it has substance and it gives you that wow goosebumps feeling to witness it live ..here's a prime example of a drummer who I met through gigs in Sydney who drums with this feel and passion I speak of in spades..Paris Jeffree Check out her page while your at it.
