23.01.2022 The latest toy catalogued and on the shelf is our new Playmobil School Bus - where will your children imagine the class on excursion to?
23.01.2022 "Cat Crimes" is a great new addition to our shelves from brand "Think Fun". Will your family be able to determine which of the six furry fiends was responsible for the tangled yarn and missing bird? With only four more weeks until the holiday closure - if you have been thinking of joining now is the time! Gift subscriptions are also available. Thank you so much to Julie for keeping the Toy Library running for the past couple of weeks while my family has been sick!
23.01.2022 Our new Fisher Price Little People Friend Ship is now on the shelf awaiting its first borrower. The ship opens up to reveal a fold down jetty and a beach complete with palm tree and hammock! The Little People range are great for children from 1-5 years old.
22.01.2022 Dear Toy Library Members As you will be aware COVID-19 has now been declared a pandemic. We recognise the need to play our part in slowing down the spread of the virus and protecting our community’s health. In line with the advice prepared by Toy Libraries Australia, we request that you: Please do not attend the toy library if you or a member of your household is exhibiting flu/cold-like symptoms (email or sms and we will extend your loans).... Please allow 14 days before visiting the toy library if you have travelled overseas to affected areas or have been in close contact with a confirmed case of coronavirus (email or sms and we will extend your loans). Please thoroughly clean and disinfect all toys before they are returned to the toy library if there has been a sickness in your household and let the toy library know of the illness in your household so that toys can be further isolated. Should we need to close the toy library as directed by the government or due to volunteersbeing unwell we will extend all loans. While you continue to borrow which we encourage you to do here are some steps recommended byhealth authorities to reduce your risk of coronavirus Regularly and thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water (for at least 20 seconds) or cleanthem with an alcohol-based hand rub. Maintain at least 1 metre distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, or shaking hands with others. Cover your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze, anddisposing of used tissues immediately. Stay at home if you feel sick. Phone your GP first if you need medical attention. They will advise you what to do. Please don't hesitate to contact me for any reason. Kind regards, Nikki
22.01.2022 We're back from the holiday break! Open Tuesdays 9am-12pm & selected Fridays 9am-12pm (**Open Friday next week 23rd Oct**, then 20th Nov & 4th Dec). We had a busy day today, so there will be lots of great toys coming out of quarantine ready to borrow next Tuesday. Keep an eye out for our new "Spooner Board" balance board - it is sturdy enough to hold 225kg, so everyone in the family will be able to take a turn!
21.01.2022 Wise words and explanatory graphic from South Bay Mommy and Me "The less a toy does, the more your child does. If a toy engages your child with lights and so...unds, the toy is doing all the work, not your child. Since play is where your child learns reasoning, ingenuity, social skills, emotion regulation, gross motor coordination, and pretty much every single essential life skill they will ever need, I'd say that it's critical that our children are given the optimal opportunities in play to exercise all of these skills to their full abilities."
