24.01.2022 The Tasmanian Government has announced further grants of $5000 will be available for eligible businesses under the COVID-19 Small Business Sustainability and Recovery Grant Program. 23.01.2022 The 2020 Federal Budget was delivered this week with COVID still very much part of our lives. The main highlights of the budget that we believe our clients should primarily be aware of are the tax cuts for individuals (back dated to 1 July 2020); proposed significant expansion to the instant asset write off scheme; a new JobMaker Hiring Credit & temporary loss carry back provisions for companies. It should be noted that all these announcement do require legislation to be pass...ed before they become law. We await the detail to be released! 22.01.2022 JOB KEEPER 2.0 Summary of requirements below. Important to note no changes to rules for all eligible clients currently claiming Job Keeper 1.0 that runs until 27 September.
21.01.2022 Have you checked whether your business qualifies for JobKeeper as yet? The good news is that the ATO have extended the deadline to apply for the initial Job Keeper payment to 31st May. However, you must have paid your staff the required $1,500/fortnight from 30th March by the end of April. Please remember JobKeeper can also apply to owner operators. If you dont meet the basic 30% decrease in turnover, you should also check if the alternative turnover tests can apply to your situation which have also now been released. 14.01.2022 BIG NEWS FOR BUSINESS TODAY Key Measures of Stimulus for businesses announced by government today: *Tax-free cash grants for businesses of up to $25k, which the government is calling the "cash flow boost". The government is tying the payments to the amount they spend on wages and salaries. Businesses will get a payment equal to 50 per cent of the tax due on their workers pay packets each time they lodge their activity statement, whether that is monthly or quarterly, startin...g for the March quarter. *The government will expand its asset write-off scheme from March 12 for the next three-and-a-half months. Businesses will be able to claim an instant tax reduction for purchases worth up to $150,000, instead of the current $30,000 limit. The scheme has also been expanded from businesses with a turnover of up to $50 million to those with a turnover of up to $500 million. *The government will pay 50 per cent of apprentice wages, backdated to January 1, with the payment lasting to September 30.

12.01.2022 JOB KEEPER ENROLMENT DEADLINE The extended timeframe to enrol for the initial JobKeeper periods, (extended from 30 April 2020 until 31 May 2020) is ending soon. If a business enrols by 31 May, they will still be able to claim for the JobKeeper fortnights in April and May provided they meet all the eligibility requirements for each of those fortnights. This includes paying employees by the appropriate date for each fortnight.... If you havent already, review the information and if eligible, enrol.
