25.01.2022 *MEMBERS MONDAY* This week we are focusing the spotlight on the Vice President for the Girls Program, Laurie Alonzo! After moving into the local area, and with a desire to play football at a community level, Laurie, alongside her niece and nephew, decided to join Eltham Redbacks.... She went on to play Senior football for the club as well as coach in the Boys Program for 2 years. Following this, Laurie moved across into the Girls Program where she has facilitated the development of an incredible group of players over the last 5+ years, taking them from sub-junior football all the way to their current age group of U13s. Amongst her coaching and playing duties, Laurie’s involvement continued, where she has been a sponsor of the club for 4 years, as well as being a mainstay within the committee for the last 5 years - fulfilling roles from Senior Registrar, to her current role as Vice President for the Girls Program. As VP for the Girls Program, Laurie’s role focuses solely on all things which fall under Football Operations for our Girls Program. This includes executing the Club’s strategic plan across the female program, creating pathways for Juniors into Senior Football, and Coach recruitment and development, just to name a few. Laurie’s hard work and passion for the club is fuelled in part, by the joy she sees on our players faces when they are out on the field, playing the game they love. That, coupled with the friendships she has made over the years, the strong brand identity of which the club represents and the ongoing opportunities the club aims to provide players of all ages and abilities, it is no wonder why she never stops caring about the football club. Moving forwards, Laurie had this to say, ERFC continues to grow and develop both on and off the field and heading towards being a destination club. The foundation has been built with our senior teams competing at high levels of the FV leagues respectively, new clubrooms and shortly a new pitch. Combined with strong leadership and commitment at committee level, the Club will achieve great things in the future. Were it not for members like Laurie, our Girls Program would not be going from strength to strength. We are extremely lucky to have someone as passionate and committed leading our Girls into an exciting future! GO REDBACKS!!!

25.01.2022 As we prepare for our return to Football, the committee have been working extremely hard behind the scenes to make sure that we provide the safest and cleanest environment possible for all our members. A massive thank you in particular to Regan Carr, who has always gone above and beyond for our club, spearheading our Covid-Safe response. We can't wait to see everyone down at the club for Season 2021!... GO REDBACKS!!!

25.01.2022 Following on from yesterdays post about our u12 boys at the Bendigo Cup, this great photo was sent to us by the Wiley family, it captures the moment the boys won the semi and found out they made it through to the final. They didn't win the final, but played some of the best teams in Victoria and the boys (and parents!!) are super proud of their achievement. Hard fought super competitive football at its best!... 21.01.2022 Congratulation to our u12 boys for making the final of the Bendigo Cup! They went down to a strong Dandenong City 4-1 in the final (both teams pictured). The semi-finals however, saw the Redbacks beat two leading teams - great effort boys! ... Go REDBACKS! See more

20.01.2022 *SENIOR WOMENS ANNOUNCEMENT* ERFC are delighted to announce that Celeste Hopkins will be signing on as our Senior Women's Goalkeeper. With playing experience going all the way back to when she was 8 years old, Celeste has achieved noteworthy feats such as winning the Minor Premiership & Grand Final of NPL Queensland with Peninsula Power, as well as playing against the Chinese National Team with Moreton Bay United.... Upon signing, Celeste said "I am delighted to have been selected as the Senior keeper at Eltham Redbacks. I'm Looking forward to the VPLW Season with the girls we have, and with Head Coach Chris I already know it's going be be enjoyable". Head Coach Chris Steele added "I'm personally delighted we have secured such a strong keeper. Celeste is a proven winner and also fits really well in to our club culture". 17.01.2022 *TECHNICAL DIRECTOR ANNOUNCEMENT* ERFC are delighted to announce the appointment of John Floros as Technical Director, who will be responsible for the Redbacks Football Program. John is an accomplished individual holding an AFC/FFA "A" Licence, currently completing an AFC/FFA Pro licence and holds a Master of Sports Science (Football Performance).... John’s professional experience spans over 20 years with coaching roles that include U23 Men’s National team Olyroos as a performance coach, head coach of FV NTC program and some of the biggest football clubs in Australia and overseas Melbourne Victory, Ajman FC (UAE), Al Nasr (UAE). Locally, he has worked with clubs such as South Melbourne, Oakleigh Cannons, Kingston City, Werribee City, FC Bulleen and Dandenong Thunder in various roles. John’s personable, result oriented approach will be a real asset to the Redbacks as they continue their quest to be the premier football club in the North East of Melbourne. On his appointment John commented "I am thrilled to be associated with a club that has a strong history on developing young players and raising the bar that other clubs aspire to be. My experience and qualifications will allow the Redbacks to accomplish their goal and provide the opportunity for young players of all abilities to develop their skills and realise their dreams". 11.01.2022 Exciting News! Football Victoria has now released the guidelines to allow football to return in Melbourne. As a result the committee will now turn its attention to getting players back on the pitch during November for a social kick with their team mates... and for 2021 season trials. ... Before we can do this, we need council to approve our Covid plan so we can access the clubrooms in a safe manner. Hopefully we can finalise all requirements during the week and let everyone know.
