Locals are disappointed at the lack of community consultation and involvement and the way this has been (or hasn’t been) handled by council. 13.01.2022 ATTENTION ALL ELTHAMITES - esp those who live near and use Andrews Reserve. We are about to lose much of the community park green space park area at Andrews Reserve near the station. We marched the streets protesting the sale of 17 reserves not long ago. Andrews Reserve was not one of these reserves and wasn’t up for sale because it was so valuable and so well used by locals. Yet now behind our backs they’re about to take 60% of that land - our community space - for multi u...se courts as part of the tennis club with bbqs all fenced off so the public can’t even use them! I’ve heard the tennis club don’t even want it that they’d be happy with one extra court. There has been no community consultation on this at all. Apparently there is a teeny sign was put up last week at the back of the tennis courts yet the works are set to start in a fortnight. We deserve to be consulted on this! Many of us walk, walk dogs, play with the kids, exercise, etc not to mention the wild life here by the creek on this free space but we won’t be able to do these things if this ridiculous development goes ahead. If you’re really pissed off like I am, please call council ASAP and ask for Andrea Jackson at council on 9433 3111 first thing tomorrow and lodge a complaint against it. We at least deserve to be informed and consulted about it. It needs to be frozen while we are consulted. It’s too late after this is built. How dare they just do this!! It is only now that locals are hearing about it. See more
