24.01.2022 We welcome Micheal Batey who joins the Turtles for 2020 as our first recruit of the season. Michael has come across from West Preston Lakeside where he was a solid defender in the senior team between 2011-2017 before taking a short break from football. He is an extremely exciting recruit for not just what he offers as a player but how he makes others around him better. ... We welcome him and his family to the Turtles and look forward to seeing him in the green and gold.

23.01.2022 We would like to welcome Luke Mckenna to the Turtle Dome. Luke brings a wealth of experience with him playing over 200 senior games for West Preston lakeside and most recently Echuca. He’s a silky defender with evasive skills and great ability to swing forward and snag a goal when required. Luke has played in over 15 finals in his senior playing career which includes Echuca’s 2019 Grand final team in the GVFL and the highlight of his career playing in West Preston’s 2010 premiership side. He started playing senior footy at West Preston when he was 17yo where he was rightly nicknamed pup. Pup was also named in the GVFL’s top 50 players in 2019. We look forward to seeing how he improves our list and improves others around him in 2020 and beyond.

17.01.2022 On Saturday, another 28 families across Banyule, Nillumbik and Darebin were delivered care packages by the Turtles and the 3081 Angels. The packages included home cooked meals and desserts; winter clothes, toys and activity packs for the children; and an assortment of essential items including nappies and toiletries. Equally as appreciated as the care packages themselves seem to be the short conversations and friendly interactions we've been able to have with the families ...(whilst observing strict social distancing). We've certainly met some amazing people, and have some new Turtles fans for the future! It has been incredibly heartening to see the level of support this project has received from our past and present playing group, with volunteers having to be knocked back every week due to social distancing requirements! Again, those involved were praised for their enthusiasm, compassion and respect. We are going to have a break this week, and be back the weekend of the 16th. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know! Shell on, Ben

12.01.2022 We are excited to announce our Captain and Vice Captains for the 2020 season. Luke Bower in just his second year at the club has been voted in as captain by his fellow peers. Luke who graduated from Eltham College in 2008 came to the club last year seeking consistent senior opportunities and instantly made an impact. Leading on and off the field with his incredible commitment made him an obvious choice for the top role. Eden Simpson will again feature on the leadership grou...nd as Vice captain. At 22 years old he has been an outstanding leader on and off the field in his time at the Turtles. He sets an excellent example at training and in games especially for the younger Turtles. Nick Snowden also in his second year at the club has taken the position as the other vice captain. Nick came to us last year as a marquee signing and has been an excellent mentor for all around him in his short time at the club. Constantly setting the standard for those around him made an easy choice to help lead the club in 2020. Further leadership announcements to follow

12.01.2022 To all members and supporters, Last night, we let our players know that we were hitting pause on our season, and this has been justified by the NFNL decision to delay the season until at least the 2nd of May. All practice matches have been postponed, and training will be suspended until further notice. It’s disappointing for all involved in local sport. Our players and committee have been working extremely hard to make season 2020 a special one at the Turtle Dome. Rest assur...ed, we’ll be back, raring to go, whenever it is deemed safe. In the meantime, we encourage all our players and supporters to look after themselves and each other, and check in with friends and teammates regularly. We were lucky enough to be able to play a practice match on Saturday, and enjoy a few hours free from the constant chat and angst caused by this virus. We’re working hard to find a way that the Turtles can still provide more of these moments over the coming months. Watch this space! Shells on, Ben

08.01.2022 A message from the President Hi Turtles Members and Supporters, I'm sure we're all very disappointed to confront the idea of a season without football. We've had such a positive 18 months, and had built amazing momentum after a great first year in the northern and a sensational preseason. Unfortunately for us the timing could not have been stiffer. ... However, there are things in life more important than football. As a club that operates quite differently to most clubs in the league, and some fantastic revenue raising over the past 18 months, we didn't face insolvency if the season was to go ahead. However, our responsibility to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of our players, coaches, volunteers and supporters was our number one concern, and we therefore think the league made the right call. Our players have incredibly well lead through the break by our coaches and leadership group. They have stuck together via social media, our work with the 3081 Angels and by catching up for a kick in pairs where appropriate. We hope to hold some social functions throughout the year, and be able to host some form of training/social sport at the Turtle Dome when it becomes feasible. Watch this space for developments. Lastly, thank you to the support of all our sponsors and members. As always, our club couldn't exist without you, and we look forward to being able to host you at the Turtle Dome again in the near future. Shells on, Ben

08.01.2022 We would like to give a warm welcome to Matt Dean. Previously playing at Lower Plenty and most recently Mernda, Matt has come across to join the Turtles in 2020. Tall and athletic, Matt can play an array of positions and will fill some important roles for us. We can’t wait to see him in the green and gold for a massive 2020! Shells on!

07.01.2022 We are happy to announce Ben Bomma O’Malley will again captain the reserves in 2020. Ben will embark on his 16th season at the club and his second year as reserves captain after leading the boys to a grand final last year. Ben plays a tough brand of never give in football and is the perfect leader to help develop our reserves list.
