25.01.2022 Well all I can say is that Lindy and my 3 day 2 night road trip was a huge success and loads of fun along the way. The last time we were at the Toowoomba Flower Festival was September 2018. I wanted to go this year to try some of my new techniques using both natural light and artifical light. I wasn't disappointed so thought I would share just a few of a few hundred photos that I capture while we were away.

23.01.2022 Couldn't of wished for a better sighting and capture for the first day of spring and what a beautiful day it is. 2 Kookaburra's sitting on a limb of this gum tree. One of them left flying down towards me then the second followed

23.01.2022 I also had the opportunity to capture some flowers up in the mountains. In this photo I was attracted to the early morning suns rays touching the flower.

23.01.2022 Forest Kingfisher Size: 18-23cm Breeds: Sept -Jan Eggs: 3-5... Haven't seen our Kingfishers here for nearly 2 two years. We put it down to all the clearing and residential housing going up every where anyway spotted this guy on his own having a lovely time flying from tree to tree looking for something to eat on our property yesterday.

22.01.2022 Another unexpected capture yesterday was this Yellow-Tailed Black-Cockatoo, 5 of them doing about 6 flyovers. Made my day complete

21.01.2022 My husband managed to finally achieve the Male Regent Bowerbirds trust when they flew down and perched on his hand very comfortably for several minutes. Looking at him and his surrounds very inquisitively. Was just so beautiful to watch and photograph.

21.01.2022 The Wongo Pigeons monotonous call during breeding

20.01.2022 Another Grevillea flower. This would be one of my favorites this week. Red flowers always look great, but they look absolutely stunning taken at the right time of the day and with the right lens

19.01.2022 With the days starting to get a little warmer I am getting excited about coming out of hibernation and looking forward to the warmer temperatures. With many of our Grevilleas, and Australian Natives flowering I have been doing a little macro photography. I really love it how my macro lens opens up the flower to let us see things that we don't see just by looking at the flowers. I have a long way to go to capturing magnificent macro flower shots but we have to start somewhere and it is only practice that makes perfect in anything we do, so I will keep practicing. Next I want to try using early morning light reflecting back onto the flower styles and petals

18.01.2022 Another photo printed on Canvas and framed added to our collection. I captured this stunning Male Regent Bowerbird in flight 2 weeks ago. Will add this to our web page today

17.01.2022 I was photographing along a river recently and captured this non breeding Intermediate Egret also known as the Plumed Egret on the otherside of the river. It was really a little bit too far for my telescopic lens but just had to capture what I saw. These pesty crows were not going to allow him to enjoy his happy moment perched in that dead tree which provided him with excellent views of the river and his meals

17.01.2022 Yesterday on Lindy and my getaway I captured this stunning Pale Headed Rosella. It was very windy and it was very close to us but it just shows his back plumage beautifully. Such a striking bird

16.01.2022 This has taken me ages to add to our shop and to post on my blog site. But it has now been done and dusted. I will be posting mostly through my blog site now as facebook are pressurising me to sell sell sell and I am not interested in doing that on this facebook page, just wanted to share my photographs for people to enjoy. You can check out my blog site at https://elvacarter.com.au/ Just scroll down a little and you will see 3 tabs blog, shop and home. Just click on blog.

16.01.2022 I'm afraid I don't look real good early in the morning but this Lewin's Honeyeater did. Just love its fat little tummy. I didn't want to use a flash taking its photo as it may of injured its eyes.

16.01.2022 This little guy was my mission on Friday and Saturday. The stunning Male Regent Bowerbird with his vibrant plumage of black and gold. Last weekend was probably the most challenging photography days I have had as it was freezing cold, I had about 4 layers of clothes on my hands were numb from the cold, there was also a heavy fog, so not the most ideal photographing weather but we made the most of our time there

15.01.2022 What a road trip I had yesterday. Setting off early as usual I finally managed to catch this stunning Striated Pardalote. Usually when I have seen him he is usually in among the fine needle type leaves of fir trees but here is was perched on a dead branch of a tree that was overhanging the river bank. The river bank behind him gave a great backdrop and the sun was just starting to touch him and the branch he was sitting on. This allowed him to showcase his plumage beautifully. More images of him will be posted on my webpage blog after I get them all downloaded cropped and logo put on them

15.01.2022 After my failed attempt at nice photos of the Rufous Fantail almost 2 weeks ago I decided this week to make it my mission. So once again I left home to pick up Lindy at 4.30am. My last attempt we arrived at the destination too late for these Fantails as we went to other places before hand, but yesterday we went straight there getting the best conditions possible. Lindy watched the forestcast for that day so we knew it was going to be ideal conditions. They were still sitting ...on the nest, but we witnessed them rotating sitting on the nest. The one that was returning to the nest returned with food for the chicks and fed them. I did see 2 very tiny little beaks sticking up at one stage. I hope you enjoy these. If at first you don't succeed try, try again. My next mission with these birds will be to get them in flight and may be just maybe some pictures of the chicks if we are lucky. See more

13.01.2022 Rainbow Lorikeets love to sit right at the top of a limb like a power thingy and they usually bully and nudge their cousins the Scaly-Breasted Lorikeet away but last week I captured the Scaly Breasted Lorikeet stand up to his bigger cousin. They don't always see eye to eye but this day they certainly did. The little one just watched on as his cousin became a sore loser eventually flying off with the huffs. The Scaly Breasted Lorikeet appeared proud of himself not something you see very offen

12.01.2022 Did you know that bees fly 88,500 km and visit two million flowers to make 1/2 kg of honey? That is a lot of pollinating

11.01.2022 Can you remember our juvenile King Parrot that we watched as he got his adult plumage, and then he bought his young chick down to introduce it to us where I got some great photos last season. Well we have had a couple of visits this week firstly a couple of days ago the now adult king parrot dropped in with his female partner and today his first male chick that is gaining his adult plumage very nicely, probably still a year or more before he get his full plumage but he is certainly going to have overload personality. Thought I would share a few photos of his visit this morning also accompanied by a female. I hope they bring you as much joy as he did to Jim and I The first 2 images of the males first male chick which hatched last season. The remaining photos are of this same chick nearly 10 months later

11.01.2022 This female Satin Bowerbird just casually walked around the garden pecking at everything on the ground. We mostly spotted them early morning and late afternoon. She is easy to identify because of her purple eyes.

11.01.2022 I just love pinks reds and whites in the garden and using early morning sun

07.01.2022 Spring is in the air here in Queensland, well almost but I am looking forward to capturing some amazing photos of flowers this year. As I progress through my photography learning, I have learn't that our own personal photography is only limited by the limits that we put on ourselves. I am enjoying breaking all the photography rules, it doesn't work all the time but then what is right or wrong, or good or bad today in photography. I am so looking forward to the warm days and nights and what they bring for me to photograph. What did I see in these flowers that made me want to photograph them the way that I did?

07.01.2022 These stunning Plumed Whistling Ducks really gave me a show I never thought I would ever get. I've have tried to capture them in flight for nearly 2 years but the timing just hasn't happened until yesterday. I was out about 5.00am with 2 of my lens's and tripod. The sun was behind me so gave a lovely soft glow to their feathers and I had it set at a shallow depth of field. The background was also a good distance away from the ducks. They had wet feet and sometimes they appeared to struggle to keep their balance but at all times remained so graceful and charming. They even threw in some fancy footwork (notice their web type feet) They are just a lovely gentle charming duck. So pleased the visit us regularly

06.01.2022 This Wattle Bird was thoroughly enjoying his bath yesterday. I have never seen them swim or bath before so I was quiet impressed

06.01.2022 Oh my goodness I hadn't seen my angel since Mothers Day in May. Well he paid me a visit yesterday afternoon. I was totally unprepared for his visit, so grabbed my camera of which I was also taking photos of flowers on so not really set up for bird photography, never mind I was so thrilled to have him visit, he went away and returned about 5 minutes later with his female companion.

06.01.2022 This Grevillea 'Peaches and Cream' flower in the first photo looks like a spinning wheel. You can get so many interesting photos just by changing your composition, lens and time of day. The 2nd photo is the same flower but different angle and direction.

05.01.2022 Sorry everyone for the lack of posts but this time of the year is very busy. Christmas is a week away tomorrow. I have the Christmas pudding made and ready for cooking for 4 hours. Will do the rolled roast pork next Thursday and pray I achieve a lovely crunchier crackling. Christmas tree is up but only half the lights are working but I know I am blessed to have an absolutely beautiful family. I have so much to be grateful for so am wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and safe New Year

04.01.2022 Red-Browed Finch taken 2 weeks ago. Love these little birds they are so sweet and they don't bother other birds and they are very quiet

02.01.2022 Lindy and I had another day trip last week and captured another first time for me and another to mark off in my bird book. Wonga Pigeon Size:36-40cm Breeds Oct-Jan... Eggs 2 Found only down the east coast of Australia often settling on branchs with back to observer slowly raising tail. Perching during the day often calling. Their voice when breeding is high pitched, monotonous, whistling wonk, which is endlessly repeated I took a short video so you can hear their call when breeding. Will upload this as well.
