Today is a huge day not just for women’s cricket, but for women and cricket more broadly, with Australia’s magnificent women’s side set to take on India at the MCG in front of a gargantuan crowd. It’s another Sister Act (boom tish) today, with the Firsts and Fourths following up on their comprehensive wins last weekend against Le Page and Washington Park respectively. The Ones beat Le Page in Round 2, then got washed out in their second encounter having made a very competitive 193, while the Fours are 1-1 against the Sharks this season. 14.01.2022 Dear Elwood CC Players and Supporters, It is our melancholy duty to inform you officially that in light of advice from the cricketing peak bodies and SECA surrounding the evolving COVID-19 outbreak, our 2019-20 season is over. Grand Finals scheduled for this weekend will now not go ahead, and unfortunately the Club junior and senior presentation events scheduled for next Saturday 28 March are cancelled. ... This is a disappointing way to end what has been an enormously successful season. Not the least because it does not offer us a chance to acknowledge all of our wonderful committee members, captains, coaches, and team managers at a club function. You are a great part of our success and without you we’d not be able to get on the park. Thanks also to our Club sponsors and backers, the Village Belle, RosyTown, Premium Sport Tours, Bakers Delight Elwood and Spike Creative for your support this year. Our club members will continue to support you during these difficult times. While we are disappointed this is how our season ends, we all understand these measures are necessary. We now look forward to this weekend and what a big one it is as we see both our 1st & 2nd XI teams play two one-day matches over both Saturday and Sunday, and with lots of points on offer! So make sure you come on down on down as our 1st XI are at home on Saturday against Mackie before playing away against Bentleigh ANA and our 2nd XI visit Omega on Saturday before hosting bottom of the table Washington Park on Sunday. #GoWoods

01.01.2022 ****CLUB FINALS UPDATE**** To all our members and supporters, We’ve got senior two teams qualified for semi-finals this weekend.... Our 1st XI finished 3rd in Longmuir after the home and away rounds and will host Brighton Union (4th) at Wattie Watson this Saturday and Sunday from 1pm. Our 4th XI also finished 3rd in their grade and will play Southside East Caulfield at Bailey Reserve this Saturday and Sunday at 1.30pm. On the junior side of things, unfortunately our Under 16s and U14s lost their semi-finals last Friday despite some great efforts by the boys. Meanwhile our Under 12s are halfway through their Semi-final with Brighton Union, who are on 1/59 with our boys on 3/67 after 15 overs each in a split innings game. Our young lads will resume fiercely on Saturday morning and hope to make it through to a Grand Final next weekend. Good luck to all players who get a finals game. The Club implores all members and supporters to come down this weekend to cheer us to GLORY. Go Wooders!
