25.01.2022 In these extraordinary times there’s one thing we’re missing even more than those carefree summer days - YOU! From young to old and everyone in between Elwood beach has always been the place to be. Our volunteers are so dedicated they even offered a suntan spray service for members of the public in the early 1980s, all at a cost of just 40c a spray. Now that’s service. #elwoodlsc #elwoodbeach #elwood #historyphoto #retro #3184 #stopthespread

25.01.2022 A massive thanks to all those who supported our recent Shred Day event. Together with the $1903 collected on the day and $600 for paper recycling we raised a whopping $2503. Special thanks to Shred on Site owners Ariane and Andrew Vincent who also made a financial donation, Bendigo Bank Elwood Community branch director Andrew Ashdown and Elwood branch manager Rajan Kumar for making this fundraiser possible. The 3.8 tonnes of paper collected will be turned into items like egg cartons and pizza boxes. Since the initiative began five years ago more than 22 tonnes of documents have been securely shredded and recycled. What an effort!

24.01.2022 Well done to all our competitors at the Masters State Championships

22.01.2022 As we move into a new set of eased restrictions, Life Saving Victoria would like Elwood LSC's members to know how valued their contributions to lifesaving have been during these tough times and how essential their skills will be for the upcoming season. Please take the time to watch this message from LSV president Paul James and state lifesaving directors including our own David and Rachael Rylance. #staysafe #inthistogether https://youtu.be/MquCw8AxouQ

20.01.2022 We couldn’t be more proud of #teamwoodsta not only with their efforts this weekend at states but their whole season. A massive thank you too to all of our coaches and support team #aclubforlife @ Warrnambool, Victoria

20.01.2022 The Inflatable Rescue Boat Championships rocked Kingscliff Beach last month with three days of non-stop Rescue Boat action. More than 900 competitors from the ...best IRB crews across the country raced it out in events designed to incorporate all the life saving skills required to perform a successful IRB rescue. Now, this weekend you can check out all the biggest moments from the IRB Champs in a special highlights packge on Fox Sports! Tune in this Saturday 12pm on Channel 506.

19.01.2022 Our lifesavers have always brought their 'A' game to the beach. But our old wheels were more A-Team. This Ford series van was used for several years to transport members and tow club boats until being decommissioned. As Mr T might say, we just pity the fool who never got to experience this retro beast. #elwoodlsc #elwoodbeach #elwood #historyphoto #retro #3184

19.01.2022 Long before anyone had heard of social distancing there was no better place to be than 3KZ’s beachcomber parties. Thousands would cram Elwood Beach for the radio station’s broadcasts and @elwoodlsc members even provided regular beach and bay reports. Stay tuned for more retro pics to ease your beachday yearnings as we all stay home to #stopthespread #elwoodbeach #elwood #historyphoto #1960s #retro #3184

18.01.2022 Pull out your pink vests and go get those goggles - Nippers is back January 10. 17.01.2022 It was a long way to the top but the view from @elwoodlsc's lookout tower was always worth the climb. The $18,000 structure - funded through the State Government and a $6000 donation from metal giant Alcoa - took builder LU Simon and club members two years to erect. Standing 18m above sea level with glass on three sides, State MP Brian Dixon officially opened the tower on January 23, 1976. It fell into disrepair over the years and was eventually removed. But for rising to the occasion in keeping thousands of beachgoers safe we'll always look up to this Elwood icon. #elwoodlsc #elwoodbeach #elwood #historyphoto #retro #3184 #alcoa #alcoatower #elwoodlookouttower

12.01.2022 If you thought finding a car space on Ormond Rd was hard, spare a thought for the motorists of yesteryear who battled it out at Elwood Beach. As many as 100,000 people flocked to the foreshore on a hot summer’s day - the figure topping 1.1 million in the 1979/80 season alone. The only thing worse than hunting down a parking spot was getting blocked in by a pesky driver when it was time to go home. And we can still feel the burn from those hot leather seats. #elwoodlsc #elwoodbeach #elwood #historyphoto #retro #3184

11.01.2022 Good luck @_olliesharp up at the Australian Youth Championships #elwoodlsc

08.01.2022 A reminder that our Junior Club Championships are this SUNDAY @ 9.30am (There are medals up for grabs!)

06.01.2022 Well done at yesterday's Senior Pool carnival Team Elwood!!

06.01.2022 When there’s something strange in your Elwood-hood. Who you gonna call? @elwoodlsc’s very own ambulance was a little weird but it certainly looked good. The only privately registered ambulance in Victoria, its various incarnations included an ex-RAAF 1955 Mainline Ford, a Holden written off taking a patient to hospital in 1972, a Ford F100 and a 1983 Ford Econovan which Victoria Police helped equip. The club’s ambulance service was retired in the 1980s. But for ingenuity in helping treat countless beachgoers we’re not afraid to salute these retro lifesaving wheels. #elwoodbeach #elwood #historyphoto #retro #3184 #classiccars #ambulance

04.01.2022 Elwood LSC is again supporting the Anzac Day service at Elwood foreshore. We encourage members to attend and show their respects. The service begins at 9am and Elwood representatives will lay a wreath on behalf of the club. A breakfast with gold coin donation will follow.

03.01.2022 The red and yellow flags will be back on the beach around Port Phillip Bay from this weekend, marking the start of the lifesaving patrol season in Victoria f...or 2020-21 Lifesaving patrols at coastal clubs will begin from Saturday 28 November. While the summer season ahead is likely to be a different one for Victorian beachgoers, the important water safety messages remain the same. Wherever possible, swim at a patrolled beach between the red and yellow flags, make sure to check the weather and conditions, read safety signs and always swim with a friend. If you haven’t been out in the water for a while, please take extra precautions and prepare and plan your day. All beaches, even bay beaches can be dangerous and have hidden dangers such as rips. Make sure to check the weather and conditions and use the https://beachsafe.org.au/ website to find patrolled beaches. For more information about how to stay safe around water this summer, visit www.lsv.com.au/summersafety For a media release about the start of patrol season, visit https://blog.lsv.com.au/2020/11/13/lifesaving-patrol-season/

02.01.2022 What a weekend! Well done team on some very impressive racing at the State Championships, and for the entire Victorian season. Can't thank our officials, team managers and supporters enough. #woodstas #thirdinthestate #elwoodlsc #irbstates @ Warrnambool Surf Life Saving Club
