25.01.2022 Thank You Victoria. There’s a lot to be proud of. But there’s still a way to go. Restrictions have been eased, but limiting our movement everyday means everythi...ng. It means we slow the spread of the virus. We all have a part to play. It’s up to all of us to make this work. For details go to www.vic.gov.au/CORONAVIRUS Authorised by the Victorian Government, Melbourne See more

24.01.2022 Bespectacled peeps. I sewed a button on to my mask so my glasses can rest a bit further away from my face but not slip off. No more fogging up or constant adjusting. Pass it on! Have made this post public to be shareable

22.01.2022 From 11:59pm on Sunday 18 October 2020, individuals can go boating and fishing (powered and unpowered) within 25 km of their residence and no time limit applies.... Boat ramps and jetties are open. If you’re at a ramp or jetty, you must adhere to physical distancing of at least 1.5m. Group limits of 10 people from two households apply, and you must wear a fitted face mask at all times, unless you have a lawful reason not to. Boating maintenance is permitted with marine and specialist mechanics able to operate as required for the safe operation of boats. This means that people can take their boats and trailers to businesses that provide boating safety inspections, necessary servicing and maintenance services within 25 km of their residence, unless the nearest service provider is further than this. The border between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria remains in place. People from metropolitan Melbourne cannot enter regional Victoria unless they have a permitted reason and vice-versa. Recreation such as boating is not a permitted reason for travelling across the border between metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria. Marine businesses with COVIDSafe Plans are open, and must have the four square metre rule and cleaning requirements in place. For more information visit the Business Victoria website www.business.vic.gov.au. Staying safe is more important than ever. So please, keep wearing a mask, keep maintaining your distance and if you feel sick, get tested and stay home. 17.01.2022 We’re growing our Boating Vic ramp camera network and we need your help! Take our survey to tell us where you want to see boat ramp cameras. Our Port Phillip ...and Western Port ramp cameras are live - at www.boating.vic.gov.au and the Boating Vic app - to help boaters and paddlers determine which launching location they want to head to before making the trip. Now we want to hear your thoughts on which launching facilities across the state would benefit from one of our ramp cameras. There’s also the option to enter the draw to win a Boating Vic prize pack, complete with a bunch of goodies to keep you safe on the water this summer. Vote for one of our suggested spots, or tell us which one we’re missing: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/boatingvicrampcams See more

16.01.2022 Dear members, Due to reimposition of COVID19 Stage 3 restrictions the Club has been closed and key fobs have been turned off. If you wish to remove your boat or other equipment from the club please contact our manager Amanda to arrange the time when your key fob will be turned on (03 9531 4743 [email protected]). Work on your boat at the club is not permitted. The advice from Australian Sailing is as follows: Club organised racing and training are not permitted.... You can sail recreationally in a single-handed dinghy. You can sail recreationally in a keel boat with a maximum of two people (if they do not live with you) as long as you keep the 1.5mtr distancing. Sailing with family members from the same house is allowed as long as you can keep the 1.5 meter distancing while sailing: this rules out sailing 2-handed dinghies. We have been advised that the water police will be conducting a "blitz" this weekend and fining anyone breaking these and DHHS restrictions. You should not turn up at the club without making a booking or if feeling unwell. You should also consider the four acceptable reasons for travel before organising this trip to the Club: Shopping for what you need - food and essential supplies Medical, care or compassionate needs Exercise in compliance with the public gathering requirements Work and study if you can’t work or learn remotely Please contact our manager if you have questions. Stay safe!

15.01.2022 You might have noticed the ‘beach closed’ signs have been removed from our beaches this week. Alongside the latest changes to COVID-19 restrictions, our beaches... are open again which means you can now visit your local beach and relax, have a picnic, exercise or play non-contact sports. Just remember to keep at least 1.5 metres between yourself and other people at all times and don’t gather in groups of more than 10 people. Multiple groups of 10 people should not gather close by. You can also still access the beaches as a thoroughfare, such as for a run or walking a dog, provided that physical distancing requirements are observed always. Parks Victoria manages on-water activities in Port Phillip Bay. Under revised Stage 3 restrictions, leisure activities including fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, jetskiing and waterskiing are now permitted, provided that you don’t travel large distances to do them. The situation is constantly evolving so please visit the DHHS website for the latest updates about this: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/sport-cultural-and-recreational More information: http://www.portphillip.vic.gov.au/service-program-changes.h

15.01.2022 Windy alright!?!

14.01.2022 I just wanted to highlight a couple Elwood open space and infrastructure issues. They are a bit behind but promise to arrive on Elwood ground soon. 1. Outdoor... Fitness Station The Elwood Foreshore Fitness Station is a bit behind. The installation of suitable marine-grade fitness equipment I understand because of the additional design work predominately associated with the replacement of a large stormwater drain at the site has contributed to delays. Due for completion in about 8 weeks, fingers crossed. Very necessary now that indoor gyms are closed. I love these and hope that Elwoodians love this new one. 2. Sports Field Lighting Expansion Elwood Park Sports Fields Project is slightly delayed. This is about the installation of 16 sports field lights at Elwood Park’s four playing fields. I understand that tender submissions are being reviewed. COVID-19 associated supply chain delays, especially for outdoor lights, poles and lighting components that may need to be sourced from overseas, may delay installation dates. These lights (mainly funded by others) should be up in a month or two. 3. I will report soon on the Elwood Foreshore Facilities Strategy Project. I hope this is going to have a huge effect on Elwood. It is a plan looking at all of the buildings on the Elwood Foreshore and how we can improve the buildings for the community. More on that later. Thanks, Dick

05.01.2022 Elwood Plogging Group is BACK! Kicking off this Saturday, we're returning to our regular weekly plogs. We'll meet at 9am in front of Elwood Sailing Club every S...aturday morning, starting this week. We'll be introducing just a couple of new rules...to help keep everyone safe: - Please bring along your own gloves. We'll have some spare pairs available but it's probably safest (and most hygienic) to bring your own. Just make sure that they're durable enough and offer you protection from sharp objects. - When plogging, please make sure that you keep socially distanced from your fellow ploggers (i.e. keep a distance of 1.5m apart). We'll have hand sanitiser available so you can clean your hands at the end of the plog And of course we'll bring back the group photo...we'll just make sure that we're spread out! We can't wait to see you all on Saturday, kicking off at 9am and wrapping up no later than 10am.

04.01.2022 Back on the water!
