21.01.2022 Having fruit trees in your garden doesn’t need a lot of space. This is a hedge in Higgins with pears, apples and quince. Hedging keeps the trees compact and means large, juicy fruit!



18.01.2022 This small courtyard was being consumed by vines. A grape vine, a climbing fig, jasmine, honeysuckle and ivy were covering the walls and fences, making the space feel small and dark. A good clean up lets the light and the air back in.

10.01.2022 These are silver Birch trees that have died in the recent hot weather. The root ball looks the same as the day it was planted!

09.01.2022 To be fair, this lawn was in great shape when I started maintaining it about three months ago. It’s the usual mix of couch, paspalum, dandelion and clover, but because it is mowed regularly and watered, it looks great. It just goes to show that any lawn can look good with the right care.



08.01.2022 Today’s task: dead-heading agapanthus (cutting off the dead flower stalks). Last year they counted 2,500. I didn’t count.
