25.01.2022 Introducing Mark Spry // Executive Director As we near the 6-month mark of our launch in February, we thought it time we introduce you to some of the faces of the Emacen team. First cab of the rank being, Mark Spry, Emacens Executive Director: With over 30 years of experience with tier one construction companies, Mark is a proven leader in all forms of building solutions and delivery methods. A third-generation builder, he has led and managed some of the most iconic and chal...lenging projects across the Brisbane skyline. Solving problems and completing tasks in an environment that continually throws challenges at you gets me out of bed in the morning ready to take on the day. Bringing a team of people together to work towards a common goal is something the construction industry provides, which is unique in our society. What does delivering value mean to you? Delivering value is a client coming to you at the end of the project and saying thanks I really enjoyed the process, the outcome and your input with hopefully, lets do it again sometime! #weareemacen #advisemanageconstruct #constructionqueensland

25.01.2022 While we ride out the unprecedented event of COVID-19, its more important than ever that our industry comes together and supports one another. Unfortunately, mental health has and continues to be a prominent issue in the construction industry. A construction worker is six times more likely to die from suicide than an accident at work. Its an alarming statistic, and were sure the current environment has placed an added strain on the mental health of some of the people in ou...r industry as we all do our best to navigate these uncertain times. For this reason, we wanted to share the below information from MATES in Constructions recent Coping with COVID-19 campaign in hope that it might reach some of our network that needs it. Weve also linked to some interesting research released by the AISRP studying the impact of MATES in Constructions early intervention and support program. 24.01.2022 Its mens health week this week, and we think its a great opportunity to take a moment to highlight the importance of managing our mental health in the workplace. We operate in a fast-paced industry that works to tight deadlines and pressures from numerous stakeholders. While theres a lot of satisfaction in seeing a project reach completion, the journey to get there can strenuous on our mental wellbeing. And alarmingly, a construction worker is six times more likely to die from suicide than an accident at work. Its a statistic that we need to work together as an industry to reduce. So, use this week as a reminder to check in on your workmates and yourself and ask the question - Are you ok? #menshealthweek #mentalhealth #areyouok #constructionaustralia
23.01.2022 Growth Mindset // Gain control and future plan. By now, youll have an understanding of the effects COVID-19 is having on your business. Were all living it and coping as best we can. However, the real impact on our industry is yet to be seen. Capital Works needs confidence, and you dont need an economics degree to work out that confidence is low, but like the stock market (the ultimate reflection of confidence) this can change quickly. The difficult times ahead are easier to manage if you dont have legacy issues to contend with. -Understand your Net Tangible Asset needs moving forward. -Analyse your forward order book to see how realistic it is. -Manage the size of your overheads to match all of the above Emacens advisory arm specialises in helping companies manage their strategic plan as well as your needs when it comes to distressed projects. 14.01.2022 A look into the delivery of Citro Apartments in West End: When the original builder engaged to deliver the Citro Apartments went into administration Equire Property Group was left with the predicament of finding a new contractor and recalibrating defects. It was at this point Emacens extensive industry knowledge and consulting services were sought to advise Equire Property through the recovery. We were able to provide them with critical technical input and advice on negoti...ating the engagement of a new building contractor, a strategy for rectifying defects, and implementing a plan to achieve project completion in the most efficient manner, given the difficult circumstances surrounding a project experiencing these types of problems. Despite rocky beginnings, were pleased to say the projects delivery came in on time and on budget! 09.01.2022 Its great to see the landscape redevelopment at South Bank Parklands in full swing! With South Bank being one of Queenslands best culture and leisure hubs, we were delighted for the opportunity to be involved in its redevelopment. Emacen was appointed by South Bank Corporation to provide a peer review on the project Tender Documentation for the landscape redevelopment focusing on overall cost, project risk and a non-technical design review. Following this, we acted in the r...ole of independent tender assessor ensuring good governance through the tender phase. We dropped down to site earlier this week to visit the team and were told the project is progressing successfully and well ahead of program. Congrats team! Were looking forward to seeing the finished product. #Emacen #advisemanageconstruct #constructionqueensland #southbankparklands #constructionadvisoryservices

04.01.2022 If you joined us at our launch in late February, you might remember Brisbane Lions Head Coach, Chris Fagan, sharing his story with us on growth mindset and how his perseverance to teach his players about it became one of the pillars of the successful revival of the Lions. At the time, we had little knowledge that the industry would soon face one of its fiercest battles in the form of a global pandemic and that Chris message would become more important than ever to consider. ...We know a lot of the construction industry has felt the weight of the present crisis, and are looking for ways to adapt their approach to operations and become more resilient. As a construction business with an advisory arm, we believe were in a great position to provide some insight on the topic. In fact, we have successfully overhauled some major construction businesses in difficult times, so we understand what it takes to navigate the path to survival and beyond when it feels like there is no way out! For this reason, we have developed a series of posts for anyone needing a hand navigating current times. If youre interested in having a read, keep your eyes peeled for these posts over the coming weeks. Alternatively, if you wish to discuss your businesses needs in further detail with our team, please dont hesitate to get in contact. #Emacen #advisemanageconstruct #constructionadvisory #constructionadvisoryservices #constructionqueensland #queenslandconstruction #brisbaneconstruction
02.01.2022 Growth mindset // Understanding the now The fallout from COVID-19 has been unprecedented. For the rest of our working lives, were unlikely to experience a time like the one were living through again. Fortunately, the building and construction industry remains open, and so far, most of us have felt a relatively minimal impact on work or supplies. However, we believe this is the calm before the storm, with results from QMBAs April COVID-19 survey indicating that the industry... could see an average reduction of forward contracts across all sectors of 40%. How will your business prepare for this? Its easy to get absorbed in executing your current contracts and not thinking about what is inevitably coming in just a few months. Nobody is an expert in this, its not something any of us have experienced, but we know that sticking your head in the sand is not the answer. If you need, get help. It will be critical to your operational success that you take a step back and gain an intimate understanding of where youre at and whats happening in your sector of the industry. Take the time to map out what the worst-case scenario looks like for your business and make decisive decisions to change it. Look into- -Problem projects and remedy solutions -Business size compared with market outlook -Critical overhead analysis -Your cash flow needs -Management of your Net Tangible Assets If you need help with this, contact our team. We can provide you with assistance in all of these areas. #Emacen #advisemanageconstruct #constructionqueensland #constructionadvisoryservices #advisoryservices
