21.01.2022 MEN’S WORKER (Derby Family Violence Service) Our Purpose. Emama Nguda Aboriginal Corporation was formed in 1994 for the purpose of improving the living conditions and quality of life of its Aboriginal members by providing vital resources and services. Emama Nguda is a dynamic organization and will identify the needs of its members as they arise and change over time.... Team Contribution The Derby Family Violence Men’s Worker works collaboratively with our partner agency Anglicare WA. This role works closely with the FDV prevention and Community Development Lead and collaborates with the CRS worker and the Refuge outreach worker. This role proactively invites and supports men using abuse and violence to stop using violence and abuse in their families and communities. This role engages with communities with a strong focus on establishing and sustaining relationships and promoting respectful relationships as defined by Aboriginal Law and Culture. This role engages men in a specific process to support immediate, short term and long term behavioural and attitudinal change. This support is provided through strong participation and contribution in interagency collaboration to address immediate risk concerns as well as individual and group counselling programs specific to men’s behaviour change and community education and awareness. A key aspect of this role is linking men to appropriate cultural healing opportunities and reconnection to Aboriginal law and culture. Role Contribution This role contributes to the addressing family violence in the Kimberley strategy with a focus on preventing the harmful effects of Family Violence. This role provides proactive interventions to men perpetrating family violence as well as community education initiatives working collaboratively with other agencies and stakeholders.
