(LINK IN COMMENTBOX) I will post a photo in the next day or so of my European fabric stash so you can see what the custom skirt can be made out of....... What a great cause, go and have a look...

My mum is here visiting for my birthday-and I like to show her around Berlin now its not snowing anymore ;)... 16.01.2022 [Just to explain] You might have noticed I haven’t really been ‘that’ busy sewing clothes. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy ;) As most of you will be aware (or you will be now), I recently located, together with hubby and our 2 daughters, from Australia to Berlin, Germany. To chase a dream, to have an adventure, to show our girls all about the many wonders of Europe. l They hold dual citizenship (Dutch and Australian), and are having a blast learning the best of both... their worlds. It also means facing (fun) challenges, and starting new beginnings. Tomorrow one starts for me, as I have been given the amazing opportunity going back to my first love, working with and educating children. I am so very excited and I hope you can be too, for me. I realize this means a LOT less em&femme designs clothes-although of course I will not give up and stop completely. I will NEVER stop creating, but for now, it will take a backseat while I settle into my new job. So, I hope you stick around, as you have the last 4 years. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, for your support, your encouragement, your friendship and your time. This is not the end, just a new beginning. And I will be still be around.. 13.01.2022 This must be the longest I have not posted here. I have not been busy climbing Mount Everest. I did not solve world peace. I did not sew the world longest scarf and I did not walk from Berlin to Sydney and back again. But I did start working outside of my home every day, and my family and I did find a new place to live, which means moving, and painting, and all that. Apparently searching Pinterest and Ikea for good ideas is not helping (says the hubby)... Neither is buying fabric when you have no where you put it.. Wishing you all a fab weekend :)

09.01.2022 [Please say yes. ] To all my creating friends out there Do you also talk to the threads on your spools or bobbins, when they have nearly run out, and you need them to last just that little bit longer? Come on, you can do it, just one more stitch, just OOOOONNNEEEE more. If you do that for me, I will.. (and I think to myself What? What will I promise them? Cake? A holiday? Hmmm.. And then when they do, when there is just enough to finish the item, you feel like high-fiv...ing them, or pumping your fist in the air, going yeah, or yeeeehawwwww! Please say yes ;)

08.01.2022 I am so excited about what I bought my youngest for her birthday in July (I am well prepared!). She is a tea set, pretend cooking fanatic, and this is just perfect. Kate,the owner of Little Play Spaces has been more than accommodating in shipping all the way over to Europe,and offers the most amazing customer service. I canNOT recommend her enough. And seriously, I could play in this :)

07.01.2022 Me again Hello I am sorry I have been so absent (again..), but in my defence, I was holidaying in Prague if you are ever ‘around’ go visit!!! Thank you to those who are still sticking around, and to those who have sent me wonderful messages (and asking me when I will sew again). I will... An amazing lady I know, Sarah from Castle Design (who has done a lot of graphic design for me) is organizing an auction to benefit girls in Kenya soon, and I will make an 'em&femme designs' donation. I know my girls and I are incredibly lucky to live the life we lead, and this in an amazing opportunity to pull out my machines again and create. Something. For those who are not so lucky. 05.01.2022 A good morning from sunny Berlin :) As most of you know I have been on a sewing break, and while I do miss it so-I have started channeling my creative energy into the girls' rooms, as we have moved into a new house. You can see I have 2 very different daughters....... Can't wait to show you their finished rooms!

03.01.2022 Sorry I have been so absent lately (surely it means more with a pretty backdrop right?), there are lots of important things keeping me busy at home. I do hope to have a few bits and pieces available at the end of this week., so I am keeping my fingers crossed for some sewing time xx Ilja

02.01.2022 I am back in the sewing saddle after a few days off, and first up is a jacket that started as a promise made a while ago.... I just love the yellow and pink :) I figured I might make an extra one (different colors-of course), so stay tuned for an update, and a listing early next week.....

01.01.2022 Today is the day my youngest starts 1st class, a day that is celebrated BIG here in Berlin. There is a wonderful tradition, in addition to the parties on the weekend before- that sees parents and families give a big lolly bag to the young students (filled with school supplies, presents and lollies)- and for the first time in months, I got out my machine and sewed one for my daughter. I wonder if I'll cry......
